Good luck dealing with the whole 'four races of humans' thing. Could be more than a little un-PC.

"Send in the Redguard! He should be able run quickly and fight well with his longsword".
"No, I think we need someone articulate to negotiate with the enemy instead, tell the Imperial to go"

There is a subtle, awkward racism to the Elder Scrolls games that a mainstream audience might not receive well.
Remember Watto, from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace? I could be guessing, but Star Wars fans and nerds in general (myself included) did not, unlike the majority of the viewing public, see him as a space jew [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watto#Reception]. Mainstream audiences have different perspectives is all, and sometimes what appeared as totally harmless, is from another angle really really objectionable.

In any case, I don't think the game would translate very well into a film.
You're joking!? People are really so idiotic nowadays that they find everything offensive? I don't see anything wrong with Watto as a character.

If they do a movie they should only use five or six voices in the movie to make It more like the game.

And all the actors should try and perfect a perpetual look of dull disinterest, even when you threaten to kill them and burn their children.

i......am not sure what to think of this.

but bottomline would be:why?
really why would you make a movie out of Oblivion. it's story isn't even that good.

would be interesting how they make Oblivion into a visual place though......it has to be completely correct or else no-one will be able to fully relate the movie back to the game. (causing troll's to spur out of their caves) *not uncommon in oblivion*

i really don't know what to think if this....but i'm putting my money on it will suck. yet i will definitly put money on the table to see it. if only to laugh at in public.

I don't think George Lucas is anti-semitic. What with being Jewish and everything.

Please... Some one stop this from happening!
Most video game to movie adaptions stink, but an RPG to movie adaptation?
Good god...

(Then again, if it was just two hours of the adoring fan being killed in amusing ways I would definitely watch it.)

I'd like to see how the actors capture the wooden expressions. i'd also like to see if they hire the same 4 actors for every role.

George Lucas is Jewish? I never would've guessed. Lucas doesn't sound very Jewish.

I can see where they are coming from. I didn't think he was offensive. But I'm not Jewish. Another example of this is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's supposed African-American Transformers, Mudflap and Skids. Michael Bay had to respond and has, I believe, cut them from third film. I haven't see it, so I don't know how offensive it may have been.

People get offended quite easily these days, you're right. They think, rightly or wrongly, that people are trying to fly their blatant racism under the radar by hiding them behind fantasy or sci-fi characters.

According to his Wikipedia page [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lucas#Personal_life], he was raised as a Methodist and is now a "Buddhist Methodist". Whatever that means.

I'm probably going to get burned for this but well... I thought the actually storyline you follow in Oblivion was shit. Just your generic fantasy story which probably wouldn't make a good movie. The movie would seem like a LOTR rip off.

The story of Oblivion isn't the reason I play it. No it's the adventuring you do your self. You don't have to follow the main quest... I've never finished the main quest. I've made my own adventure. Travelling from A to B, doing quests for random people. Walking the earth like David Carrigan (I think that's his name) in Kung Fu.

I don't think some thing like that would translate well in a movie. Perhaps a T.V series... Not a movie though.

Everything has to be 100% politically correct nowadays, it seems. It's a pity, the world would be so bland and boring if it was 100% politically correct.

Eh, Oblivion's main plot was a thin soup, so given the Hollywood tradition of making decent games into crap movies this could not be anything else than a total disaster. I enjoyed parts of Oblivion, but none of these parts was the story.

Oh, my bad. Confused him with Steven Spielberg.

With the Daedra and stuff the elder scrolls series could actually be kind of a good basis for a movie.

Well that's all my optimism for the year used up and I only have two words to describe my pessimistic view: videogame movie.
I totally hope they play the speech problems (particularly for the beggars) for comedy though.

Depends what perspective it was.

It could be just the main story, or EVERY SINGLE QUEST YOU COULD DO!
