So what's so great about tf2?

I bought it cause I like CSS and the reviews it got were like amazing.

Having played it I don't get what's so great? It's sort of like a slightly faster 'quake-ish' version of css. Most of the classes are boring.

I played those cart transport maps.

It's one of the few multiplayer shooters that are actually balanced. How good you are doesn't factor on your equipment or level, but how skilled you are as a player. or at least it was, before the upgrades, but even then, they aren't overpowered.

As said before, it's very well balanced, it has a class to suit almost every play style, it's fast, it's fun to play with friends, and so forth.

Hmmm...Yeah I noticed some snipers had bows not guns. But I defo don't think that game is balanced. I noticed alot of people playing pyro and they seem to have a strong attack and good speed.

Most of the others are weak and slow.

Try other modes.
The mode you played was Payload, and I don't think its that great.

Plus, I like the game because its so well balanced, no class overpowers the other, and its a great game to play with friends.

You know I think the maps favour one or two classes over others.

Regardless of how balanced the classes themselves might be, if a few are more suited for a certain map that isn't really letting the player choose what type to play.

But they have no ranged attack that is any good, the Flare Gun is good if it hits but very easy to dodge. I still use it over the shotgun for a bit more range but your mid attack is very low then, you're going to need to run and hide after shots whilst they burn.

I could go on but won't, it's a good game just because it's fun, not taken too seriously and well balanced.

Uh, the Pyro is probably the easiest class to beat. A majority of pubbers can't play it, and just spam like a retard. Soldier/Demoman are (likely) the best classes in the game, if you can use them properly. A good Scout rapes everything too. But any class can beat any class. Spy's can beat Pyro's, etc. It just involves using planning/skill, and taking them out of their comfort zone. e.g; getting a Pyro at long range as a spy.

It's not just the balance, it's the teamwork. One man can't carry a team in TF2, you need to work together. For example, a team with a strong offense can be crippled if they have no medic to keep the attackers alive. Or a strong defense can be destroyed if no pyros are spychecking, or if the engineers are only concerned with fixing their own buildings instead of their teammates'.

Also, it's just a lot more dynamic than CS:S. It may seem like chaos at first, but once you figure out what every class does and how the maps work, you'll realize that it's a lot more fun than two teams of identical soldiers shooting at each other until they die.

Tell that to the engineer in my first game that had a pistol that could kill me before I could turn round to even see him.

I'm gonna be honest. I'm trying, but I fucking hate this game. Everyone else has far better weapons.

'Everyone else has far better weapons' the Engineer had a standard pistol. Quick tip, go spy, get behind him, stab his ass. Sure you'll die, but at least you can rub your ass on his face. :D

Well I just really like TF2 for the following reasons:

1) Low system requirements. My computer is nearing 6 years old and it can actually play TF2. That's amazing.

2) Balance. Everyone already covered this, so moving on...

3) Fun gameplay: TF2's gameplay is just fun. Teamwork is a requirement, the stuff are well designed, and frustration levels tend to be much lower than in other games.

4) Great art style, feel, and community: The art style is great. It's probably why the system requirements are low, but it also conveys the humour and style of TF2 greatly. This is also reflected in the community - a lot of the times, you can tell a lot of people are playing for fun and not many are going to bash based on how well they're doing. It's actually crazy how this works out, and certainly adds to the fun of TF2.

5) Lots of support: TF2 gets a lot of support. They update this frequently, fixing up problems and adding in new content. There's been so much for free content (on top of the game being cheaper too), it's amazing. It's just great.

Valve takes their community seriously with TF2. They also make some humourous events as well (Halloween event was FUN!)

Basically, TF2 is great. If you play first person shooters and would like a game that isn't all "super hardcore realistic", you'll love TF2. It's got style, it's got gameplay, but best of all, it's got fun.

It's nothing like CSS.

And besides Payload is the worst gametype for me, other than CTF. Can someone please tell me why Goldrush is the most popular map ever?

It's funny, Balanced, Action filled, and has the noob classes and skill classes.

Also the Heavy Weapons guy, has a taunt that shoots invisible bullets that insta kill.

He says "POW HA HA!" during it.

'nuff said =]

Go scout or something and just attack him? Really, it's just you. :p

If all else fails, go for the pyro, it's the class that noobs use for cheap kills, haha.
And someone who's never played this before knows this because...?

Far better weapons? I think not sir. Most of the unlockable weapons suck. You can usually tell when you see a noob by the weapons they use. For example, a pyro with the backburner, a scout with the force-a-nature, or a heavy with Natasha.

Also, pyros aren't really overpowered at all. They're quite easy to kill as most classes. If you can get some range on them they are immediately at your level. Then there's always the fact that the ONLY thing a pyro can do against a turret is corner burn it.

Finally the appeal in the game is, as previously stated by many, both the balance and the demand for cooperation. It doesn't matter if one person on a team is crazy good; he can't win it alone. I will say though that it's definitely not a game for everyone. I would however give each class a good chance though, as it is very likely that there is a class you will enjoy and eventually excel at.
