EDIT: acutally had a good thought. Hopefully keep them away till I find some quick sand. Then somehow get into it and lie on my back. THey chase me in, I watch them suffer a nasty death. Now all I would need to do is find a way out... cock.

If I'm in the desert, I'd likely be both lost and too dehydrated to do anything about it. But supposing I was in the desert for some other reason than being lost, I would throw sand in their eyes and try to overpower one of them and steal his weapon. Then I'd probably try to kill them with said weapon.

and yes i'm sure i'd be able to find a burlap tarp or sack. people throw out all sorts of shit in the desert to travel lighter.

assuming they can't see me at first; I would thow myslef to the floor, cover my whole body in sand until I'm practically invisible and wait.
Then either:
1) Wait until they pass, then run.
2) Wait until one of them hangs back, sneak up and snap his neck. Then take his weapons and proceed to pick each one of them off, one by one.

*EDIT* Also assuming its a sandy desert and not one of those crappy 'solid dirt wasteland' deserts

OT: I guess since I can't out run them I would still try to break the group up by running away, leaving the slower behind and the leaner quicker one out front, then throw sand (pretty obvious eh?) in his eyes, crash tackle him whilst hes blinded and pin which ever arm hes wielding the weapon in, under my knee and use my thumb on his little finger to get him to release his grip on said weapon. Ok now your in a bargaining position (as in you now have a hostage) if you pull it off, if not your dead which was going to happen anyway.

I'd use my shirt to try to disarm one of them, chop up the rest, steal their money, take their transportation, get out of the desert, go to a club, pick up some chicks, and call it a day.
