"God damn it." Was all Richard said as he crouched down next to Alex. He was worried and couldn't think of anything he could really say. He didn't even want to touch her for fear of making her injuries worse.

Alex slowly opened her eyes and cried out in pain. "Owww oh god." she said looking around as best she could meeting Richard's gaze. Her eyes seemed unfocused and in pain. A tear ran from her eye as she looked over her body as best she could. "Is Victor gone?" she asked moving her broken arm to touch Richard but yelled out in pain from the slightest movement.

"God son of a *****." she said closing her eyes and clenched her teeth, massive pain spreading through her nerves like wild fire. Each breath was labor intensive from her broken and shattered ribs. "I should be dead." Alex said softly her voice weak and wheeze.

The blackness surrounding Tyson became white. The pain that plagued him was gone. Tyson blinked and was looking at a mutated version of himself. The mouth of that was open like it was screaming but its eyes locked with Tyson's and soon started to show him something, a memory.

The creature disappeared and Tyson was in his past. He looked around and a voice came into his ear. It was his father. It hit Tyson like a punch from Tommy that it was the day his team and himself were betrayed. Tyson tried to urge himself to move, to save them, but he found he was just a spectator of the past. An artillery round hit and Tyson heard its explosion. His body moved and his looked around a corner to see explosions going off. The memory slowed. Tyson watched in slow motion as Shrink compressed the Ground below him making a hole for him to hide in. I already know he survived. Tyson vision shifted to Marrow. She turned back completely concealed in the team's black armor and a black mask and helmet. She turned back around towards Tyson and ducked to the ground punching it with her fist. The memory disappeared.

Tyson's mind re-entered his body. A mute sound came out of Tyson's mouth followed by blood as he was in a full out struggle with his powers upon reentering his body. Tyson wasn't able to move his body as the struggle continued and blood started to run out of his ears. The struggle was to much upon reentering his body and Tyson blacked out unconscious muttering one word with the blood, "Marrow."

Levi smiled faintly when Taryn approached him.

"He's gone?"

He gazed into Taryn's eyes momentarily and nodded slowly. "He's gone," he echoed weakly. "He's finally gone". Judging from Levi's expression, he was completely exhausted and struggling to even stand. The mental struggle the Society team was unable to see had taken a massive toll on Levi. He kissed Taryn's forehead gently and embraced her for a few moments. "Thank you," he whispered quietly into her ear. "Thank you all". Levi looked past Taryn and over to Leland. "Is everyone ready to leave? No offense, but I'd like to have my mind to myself again".

"I don't think any of us want to stay here longer anyways Levi, no offense of course," Leland replied, looking around at the others to make sure they were all good. "Okay everyone, just take a deep breath and hold on tight..." he said, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes before sending everyone out of Levi's mindscape and into the real world.

A flash of white light later and everyone was back in their own bodies, now with an aching head as a souvenir from their trip.

"Oh god I don't ever want to do that again," Garrus muttered, holding his head tightly before ordering the Doctor to go and get them a ton of advil.
"It wasn't that bad. I thought it was enjoyable," Leland responded groggily, shaking his head a few times to try and wake himself up, "And look, we've only been gone an hour. Not that bad."

Eric opened his eyes and quickly looked over at Alex.... but she still wasn't moving. She was laying on the ground. The moment Eric looked away Alex jetted her eyes open and yelled out sitting up and panted. "Oh god.." Alex said gasping for air and tried to get up.

Her legs where shaking as she walked to a bed to help stabilize her self but landed on her knees. She panted even more, her mind was raging with pain and she grabbed a bed pan throwing up in it. As soon as she was stable her face met the bed as she passed out yet again, her mind needing time to reboot from the trauma of the beat down Victor had given her.

Katie stirred and woke quickly, her head throbbing as a result of the whole Mindscape debacle. "Aah... Oh, God. 'S like yesterday when I was in Leland's body. Only I was just listening to everyone's voices at the same time for ten hours straight..." She trailed off there, wanting to save her strength before she spoke again or tried to get up.

[hr]

Rowan, however, didn't move to wake up or get up from his position on the floor. The overuse of his mental abilities, combined with the constant beating up by Victor and the two transitions - one from real world to the Mindscape, the other vice versa - was enough to knock him out.

What little dreams he saw were strange, twisted, fragmented. Weird things flickered in and out of sight: the Victorian setting they had seen in the second fight; what looked like a YouTube video of flashing lights and some bald guy in a blue shirt; a dismembered plushie unicorn with its head poking out of a cardboard tube...

Levi opened his eyes slowly and immediately shut them when the bright lights of the infirmary assaulted his vision. He groaned faintly, experiencing the peak of an extremely nasty headache. On top of the pain, there was a feeling of...emptiness. Levi had become accustomed to the ever-present cold sensation in the back of his mind from Victor's presence, and its absence was noticeable. He opened his eyes again, fixing his gaze on the nearest wall, trying to make sense of what just happened to him. The mental trauma was indescribable by words. Having about a dozen people parade through your mind and force a piece of it out of you was by no means a pleasant experience, something Levi was learning fast.

Richard opened his eyes as Lillian went over to Alex before moving her to a bed in her pain. Richard didn't speak to anybody as he simply sat next to the bed.

"You alright Richard?" Lillian asked, obviously concerned.

"Yea, just a bit of hell in there, nothing I can't get through." Richard replied with a small smile.

The memories were fuzzy, drifting in and out of consciousness will do that, but the healing wasn't coming, the floor wouldn't stop moving, the electricity was still hurting, and Brian couldn't make heads or tails of it. Levi was back? Victor was banished? Rosebud was the sled? It wasn't making any sense in his head, of course what did? He was still spitting out blood in the dream world before going down, missing the return.

In the real world, Leland might have brought everyone back, but Brian was nowhere near a comeback to the land of the living. He remained passed out on the floor, his breathing shallow.

Jason's eyes slowly fluttered open, his hands clutching his head as he rose to his feet.

"Well...i'm glad that's over." He muttered, barely keeping his footing before holding on to one of the nearby beds.

"Was it all...just a dream?" Erebus joked in a dreamy tone, causing Jason to grab his forehead and wince at bright light.

"Ero...your talking's just making this headache worse..." He thought back before slowly laying down on the bed he was leaning on.

"...Does anyone have any asprin...ugh..." He groaned.

After waking up Taryn carefully rose to a sitting position. Her lower back protested the movement as did her head but she ignored the pain and dizziness. 'These are not comfortable chairs.' she noted silently. She swept her gaze around the infirmary and saw that the team was in various states of consciousness. But everyone seemed to be accounted for. She heard a request for aspirin. Taryn had to admit Jason had a point, aspirin sounded good right about now. 'Where did the Doctor go?' she wondered. As she stood up Taryn checked the darkened corners of the room but didn't see the physician anywhere. 'Maybe someone can raid the medicine cabinet for Tylenol.'

Taryn walked toward Levi's bed slowly. She didn't want to disturb him so she remained quiet as she set her hands on the side-rails. When her headache began to flare up again Taryn leaned against the wall next to her and closed her eyes briefly.

Steven awoke to the sounds of murmuring and the atmosphere of worry. To his side he saw Taryn, standing by Levi's bedside. She looked so worried for him...

"Glad now? That you didn't kill him?" she asked with a smile.

Steven's face was blank as he turned his head away from the couple. "It'll end badly. It always ends badly," he said quietly, before letting sleep take him again.

A few seconds after everyone started to ask about aspirin, the Doctor came out from his office with a bottle that he placed onto one of the empty chairs.

"Thanks doc, uh how many do we take?" Garrus asked as he massaged his temples, looking up at the Doctor to see him holding up one finger, "That's it? Usually aspirin is three or four..." The Doctor didn't move at all and simply stared, Garrus quickly getting the message and only taking one of the large pills inside of the bottle. Once he did that the Doctor put down his hand and turned to Tyson, furrowing his brow when he saw vomit in a bed pan. After doing a few quick tests of Tyson he moved him over to one of the empty beds, hooking him up to an IV before getting out more examining tools.

"So yeah, uh there is enough for everyone here..." Garrus said, passing the bottle of pills (simply marked with an 'H' on a white label) to whoever wanted it next.

Katie accepted the bottle from Garrus, picking out one of the oversized pills and swallowing it. She received a small twinge of pain as she swallowed, though, one which she resolved to avoid until the painkillers took effect. She passed the bottle on by setting it on an empty chair; whoever wanted it next would take it.

She slumped back against the wall, making sure not to hit her head, and started waiting for the painkiller to work.

Levi averted his blank gaze from the wall when he saw Taryn out of the corner of his eye. Slowly, he shifted his eyes to look at her, who was now apparently dealing with some kind of pain. "Taryn..." he called out quietly. Normally, Levi would have smiled or shown some positive emotion, but right now, he felt...drained. Hollow. As if his body was too exhausted to even feel emotion.

Hearing her name, Taryn looked down at Levi.

"Hey." She murmured softly. Despite the lingering headache she smiled in relief. Taryn looked down into green eyes. Levi's eyes. He'd come back. He was here. The last jumble of emotions Taryn had experienced in the mindscape welled back up. Fear. Relief. Triumph. Love. "Welcome back." Taryn finished. She took a slow breath and smiled hesitantly. Her hands moved restlessly on the side rail. After a second of indecision she reached forward and set her hand gently on top of Levi's arm. He was solid, he was real.

As the Doctor worked to patch up the unconscious members of the Society, everyone else took their one recommended pill and left the infirmary (most coming right back once they realized that the Promenade was still in ruins). It was then that the discussion of rebuilding the Promenade took place, with the plans being put in place immediately after everyone had their say in how things were going to get done.

----

Early in the morning a week later, and Garrus was already in the kitchen at the Promenade (having driven over each day before any construction began). As the constant sounds of drilling, yelling, and jack hammering started he placed a few pieces of toast in the toaster he had brought from home for himself. As the toast toasted he took a seat with his coffee (having also brought over his coffee maker) and cut up some normal bread into little pieces for Renton (who insisted on waking up even earlier than either of his parents) who happily started to stab at the pieces with his small fork.

Garrus sighed and placed his head against the table, the loudness of the construction noise making it impossible for him to even think clearly. 'It'll be over soon though...by the end of the month they said,' he told himself, not even hearing the toast pop up behind him.

Rowan woke to the sound of jackhammers starting up outside his room. It was like an alarm clock in a way, except that this particular alarm clock would be best suited for a Snorlax. Grinning wryly at his analogy, he got up and took a step towards the bathroom, then noted that his shower was still out of commission, having been totaled by the Union instead of taking any of his possessions.

"God dammit..." he mumbled before shifting into... well, himself, fully clothed. It was the same body, but much more presentable. It did nothing for his mood, however; he needed coffee. With that objective in mind, he hurried down the hall - avoiding a small barrier around a piece of broken wall - and found Garrus in the kitchen, head firmly planted on the table.

"I'd say good morning, but... well, you know," he tried to say over the almost painfully loud construction work. The coffee-maker still had a fair bit left in it, so he poured himself a cup, added the usual two and a half teaspoons of sugar and a splash of milk, and took a sip as he sat down. It wasn't bad... but the construction team outside severely hampered his enjoyment of the drink.

[hr]

The sounds outside quickly woke up Katie. "Regular as flaming clockwork, aren't they," she groaned, having been sick of the repair work since a few days ago. Her slightly bleary eyes flickering open after a couple of seconds, she looked over at Leland who was lying next to her, fully awake. "Still not getting much sleep, hun?" she asked, shuffling over to press herself against him, one hand on his shoulder.

Garrus mumbled something that could be considered a 'hello', only lifting his head to grab the fork that Renton expertly threw at the toaster. After grabbing the fork and his toast he took a seat again, this time giving an adequate hello to Rowan.

"Relatively-okay, but loud morning to you too. I expect everyone else to be getting up relatively soon with all this noise...I think we should just not bother staying here all day; go out and do something so that we all don't go crazy with the noise!" Garrus told Rowan loudly so that he could hear, turning to his son and asking if he'd like to go to the park today. Renton just smiled at him and continued eating, Garrus shrugging and accepting that as a 'yes'.

----

"Well Katie, my usual three to four hours of sleep has gone down to around one so...you'd be correct on that," Leland replied as he closed his aching eyes, already thinking about heading to the infirmary for one of the Doctor's painkillers, "I even wake up before the damn guys show up each day at the same time. Flaming clockwork as you said...I still think staying at the Lodge would be better than this, or hell anywhere but here."

He slowly sat up and stretched his arms before getting out of bed and walking over to his closest, picking out a white and light blue striped polo shirt and brown khakis. "No sense staying in bed when we aren't getting any sleep right?" he asked her with a small smirk.
