Brian woke up in the early morning. He sat up in bed and gave a stretch, hearing a slight crick in his back. The sun was filtering in through the window. He gave a loud yawn.
"Good morning there, hot stuff," Brian heard from the side. He looked over and saw Kayla standing there in the door frame, a robe wrapped around her. She was holding two steaming cups of coffee, and was soon heading back over to the bed. "Get enough sleep?"
"Enough to appreciate this sight," Brian replied. He took the mug that Kayla presented to him and help it up to his face. "You got the right stuff in here?"
"Milk and two sugars. You told me how you liked it. I'm not an airhead!"
"Just checking, just checking, don't worry." Brian took a sip, letting the hot liquid wash down his throat. "Ah, perfect."
"Thank you," Kayla replied. "So what do we have planned for today?"
"I dunno, I could do this for a while," Brian joked, which only earned him a look from Kayla. "Just kidding, uh well, we could take a little trip downtown, see if the stores have gotten anything new in. That sound better?"
"It does. Tell you what, after this, I'll start getting ready, and we can just make a day of it."
"I think we can do that." Brian leaned in and gave Kayla a quick peck on the lips. "It's a day."
"Awesome." Kayla reached over to the night stand, grabbing the TV remote off its perch. She flipped the TV on and turned it to Sportscenter while the two enjoyed their coffee.

In the real world, Brian was still laid out cold. He finally got moved off the floor by the Doctor and put into a bed, where he remained for the past week. His body was perfectly fine, the healing process having taken hold the second he got back, but his mind still wasn't right, he still couldn't awaken, and now it was becoming a question of whether he would be able to, or even want to. He certainly couldn't tell at this time.
