Society of Justice 3: Crisis on the Earth

"Really... interesting," Katie mused, giving Rowan a wave of 'good morning' before sitting back down. Due to the noise of the construction, she hadn't heard the location about which Leland had gotten so excited. With any luck, it would be somewhere outside of Nova City; Katie figured she could use a bit of a holiday. And if it was over the course of a few days, with Leland... She smiled to herself at the thought, reminded of the time they had taken a world tour together.

Steven woke up with a fright. It was the same nightmare every day now; Victor sending him through a wall, his neck breaking, all that blood...

He was paralyzed. Some carry-over effect from the mindscape. He moved by moving his armor. Kinda funny,he thought. I'm the weakest part of my powers now He put on his full suit, and proceeded to float down the hall. He noted the majority of the group, and silently poured himself a drink-whiskey, in this case. It was too early for the hard drinks for him. He moved the suit to address the group eating breakfast. "So, do we have anything planned today?"

"Cool, Leland, Jason, Katie, anyone else who wants to more the merrier, I can show you guys around the city, my old haunts and stuff too." Tommy said cheerily, "I've got to shower up and get clean, Dira's going to come by in a few hours to pick me up, and she can take us."

The Doctor cursed as Brian ran away, about to follow before stopping at the infirmary doors. He looked at the syringe in his hand (clearly something that will be used for 'death') and frowned, knowing he'd get in deep shit if they found him chasing after Brian with it. He stared at it for a few moments before ripping off the label and chewing it up, swallowing it before calling out for Brian stating he needed his meds as he went off to chase after him.

"Yes!" Leland cheered happily, drinking the rest of his sugar coffee down before placing the empty cup in the sink. He walked back over to the lounge and took a seat next to Katie once more. "New Eldorado for the day, how does that sound?" he asked her cheerfully, already imagining all the fun things that could be done there. Life in a magical city still fascinated him even after traveling to most of them with Tommy, and he looked forward to heading back to the first one he had been too.

"Well if anyone wants to stay a bit closer to home I'll be heading to Victory Memorial Park in an hour or so for most of the day I imagine...probably not as exciting sounding as the other option," Garrus said with a slight laugh as he placed a baggie of cheerios down in front of Renton, who started to both eat them and throw them at the members sitting at the table.

Brian had enough time to get some pants on in his room when he heard the crazy Doctor calling out for him again. He had to get out to the group. They would keep this madman from doing him in.

As he left his room he spotted the Doctor, coming towards him with that syringe. "Fucking stay away!" He ran out into the lounge area, screaming, "Somebody get this evil fucker away from me, God damn it!"

"New Eldorado... I've heard the name," Katie thought aloud. "That's the, um... oh, what's it called... Oh, right, the City of Magic in South America. I've never been there. Sure, why not, sounds good. Although, I'd like some breakfast and a shower before we go, of course. Is there a set time when we go?"

At that point Brian burst into the lounge, yelling like he was being chased by something. Rowan got up, carefully setting his coffee down, and made his way over, carefully putting a hand on Brian's shoulder. "What's going on, Brian? You're up and walking, which is good. But what happened? Was it the doc? I mean, we all know he doesn't like you..."

Taryn remained focused on fixing her breakfast while the other team members talked about going to 'New Eldorado'. The name didn't sound familiar to the technopath. 'I'll look it up later' she decided. While a road trip sounded intriguing there was still a lot of work she needed to do around the Promenade. 'And...' Taryn glanced at Levi. She'd been optimistic when he had smiled earlier. But still... 'I'll try to talk to him once people clear out.'

After she finished fixing toast Taryn found an empty seat at the table. She was able to take a few bites before someone started yelling in the lounge. Brian, it sounded like, managed to make enough noise to be heard over the machinery and construction. Without moving from the table Taryn tried to listen and hear what was going on.

"Oh I think it's going way beyond that!" Brian shouted. He could see the Doctor coming out of the corner of his eye. "I finally wake up and I see that guy standing over me, with some syringe in his hand that says 'Death' in it, and he's holding above the thing that's going into me! That fucker is trying to kill me! I want him out of this place! I can't trust him here!" He shifted to put Rowan in between him and the incoming Doctor. "You stay the fuck away!" he threatened, pointing at the man who just attempted to murder him.

Tyson walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and grabbed a half full container of yogurt and a hand full of mixed berries. After rinsing the berries off with the tap he added them to the yogurt, grabbed a spoon, and started eating. Tyson was listening to everyone's plans so far but Tyson didn't feel like joining any of them. "I'll pass on both of your plans." Tyson said trying to compete with the construct with a very hoarse voice. His throat throbbed and he coughed a couple times making his throat hurt more. Tyson swallowed a spoon full of yogurt which helped calm down the throbbing a bit.

When Brian burst into the lounge screaming about someone trying to kill him. At least he's wearing pants. Tyson walked over and looked down the hallway Brian came from still eating his yogurt. Tyson made eye contact with the Doctor who was trying to hide a syringe from view behind his back. A death stare spread across Tyson's that read like he was going to summon a sword in front of the Doctor that would decapitate him. Tyson didn't even break the stare while he continued eating.

The Doctor followed Brian into the lounge and facepalmed when he heard what Brian was saying. He quickly explained that the syringe was simply to make sure that Brian's body would continue functioning normally whilst he was in his little coma, and that he had been given him the shot in his IV drop since he's been unconscious. More talk about how there is no label on the syringe (which he was clearly holding up so that everyone could see), that Brian's sudden awakening might have made him see things unclearly and made him groggy, and that he was simply overreacting at this point continued as the Doctor threw his hands up in annoyance before capping the syringe and heading back to his infirmary.

"That was interesting," Garrus muttered as his head was bombarded with cheerios now that Renton had dumped the bag over onto his little table and could get a bunch in his hand at once. The little boy stopped when Ethan took a seat next to him in the kitchen, staring at him for a moment before starting to cry. Garrus grabbed Renton out of his high-chair and held him, telling Ethan that it wasn't his fault or anything. Ethan beeped back an apology still before getting himself a glass of water and sitting back down.

"I don't think there is a timeline on when we're going just yet, but perhaps getting things done now would be best," Leland told her, ignoring the commotion that had just happened in the lounge.

"Yeah, sure, mate," Rowan called sarcastically after the Doctor as he left. "We all know you don't like Brian!" Turning to the man in question, he said, "Perhaps you should stay away from the infirmary... at least, if you're on your own. No label on the syringe... that could easily have been pulled off when no-one was looking."

"Hmm. You're probably right. Did you want me to get you something to eat while I'm up?" Katie asked, getting up from the couch and making her way over to the kitchen. Already she was excited about visiting somewhere she hadn't been before; she briefly wondered whether there was a city regulation or something which would deny her entrance, considering she had no connection to magic besides Leland. Though he would vouch for her if that were the case.

"Yeah man, Doctor's full of it. That thing said Death on it. I know it. I may have been knocked out for...wait, how long was I knocked out for? The place is all fixed? Dang...Oh fuck! Kayla! Damn it, I was supposed to text her how long ago? Fuck. Well I guess I blew that one, huh?" Brian sighed as he sat down on one of the new couches in the lounge. He put his head in his hands. "Ugh, god damn everything man."

Eric got up and quickly got dressed. He sighed hating him self for how he felt but knew he should talk to someone about it. Maybe Alex her self would work.

Eric walked to the kitchen and waved at Steven then stopped. "Wait.... Steven I don't think I've ever seen anyone be so drunk they floated." Eric said looking at him confused.

Alex finished getting dressed and sighed sitting back on the bed. "I hope this goes away soon." she said a tear running down her cheek. Sam was pawing at Richard begging for food.

"We've lived here for three freaking years, and apparently, we still haven't seen the entire building. Seriously, how long have they had a computer room here? And why aren't there any directions to it?! You'd think it would be like, a room near the lounge n' stuff!" Jason ranted in annoyance as he traversed the empty hallways, accompanied only by the sounds of construction and Erebus.

"Hold on, I think you passed it already." The armor pointed out calmly, pointing his hypothesized direction from the mindscape. Jason reluctantly nodded, trotting towards the suggested door, pausing before opening it. As he flipped up the nearest light switch, the room illuminated, showing expensive flat panel computers lined against all the walls. Jason smirked in relief.

"You were right Ero. walking past the same door 50 times does make things easier! Maybe I should do it more often!" Jason thought as he took a seat at the nearest Desktop.

"Now...I need...a new remote, a new sound system, a new iPod...and I'll get a laptop, just so I won't have to come back here." He mumbled as the computer booted up.

"I'm good Katie. Already had some coffee and bread," Leland replied, deciding to just wait there on the couch as everyone got ready for quick trip to New Eldorado. He was about to reach for the tv remote before remembering that their satellite box had been destroyed and had yet to be replaced.

"We'll get it soon, we just need to wait until the construction guys figure out the new electrical wiring," Garrus told Leland as he took a seat on the rocking chair, having noticed Leland's staring at the tv remote.
"It's just nice to have to pass the time until we head out," Leland replied, watching Renton walk around the coffee table, "So why aren't you going along? It'd be more fun then the park."
"Other than the fact that I like to spend time with just him, it's also because I don't like magic and I don't want him around it too much. You and Tommy are about the extent," Garrus answered.
"Pfft you act like magic is contagious or something. If Renton is going to have magical abilities he's going to have them whether you like it or not," Leland stated simply, Garrus frowning but understanding that he couldn't really fight it. Ethan walked over and asked Leland if he could come along to New Eldorado too, happily beeping when he got a yes and running back out of the lounge to go and get ready.

Brian was sitting on the couch, thinking of what he should do. He could go out on a trip like the others were talking about, but that would only be delaying his problem. The Doctor clearly wanted him dead, and would apparently stoop to any level to see the deed done. Tyson's trap was stolen from his room, so what could he do? I need to get something to protect myself. Like...a weapon. That would be really nice, something I could use to stab him if he gets to close or something. I should...yeah I definitely should. Maybe the computer couple can help me. They know how to build stuff.

He got up off the couch and made his way over to the kitchen where Taryn and Levi were still at the table. "Hey guys," he started, well aware he wasn't properly dressed to make this pitch. "So, uh, listen, I don't know if you heard all that out there, but clearly that Doctor is trying to kill me, so I was wondering, you guys wouldn't have some kind of sick high-tech weapon or something I could use, huh? Just to keep that crazy s.o.b. away from me?"

"Alright, I'm gonna shower off and get ready, then we'll get going, remember to bring a passport and dress for warmer weather." Tommy said as he finished the last of his toast and coffee and left the table. He put his dish in the sink and then went to his room, where he showered off the dirt from the construction. Minutes later he was out and got dressed in a black shirt and jeans.

"So, uh, listen, I don't know if you heard all that out there, but clearly that Doctor is trying to kill me, so I was wondering, you guys wouldn't have some kind of sick high-tech weapon or something I could use, huh? Just to keep that crazy s.o.b. away from me?"

The Doctor tried to kill him? Huh. Levi stared blankly at Brian for a moment, his exhausted and sleep-depraved brain struggling to form an answer. He didn't necessarily want to move from this spot right now, but the idea of a distraction from the aching emptiness was somewhat appealing. "Uh...I don't have anything I could give you, but we could make something for you, I suppose," he replied, trying to keep the fatigue out of his voice. Levi shot a glance at Taryn. "Since we're not going anywhere..."

"Gotcha, Tommy, I won't be long," Katie answered before he left, already taking a bite out of a piece of buttered toast. She finished breakfast a couple of minutes later, having toasted two more slices in addition to the first, and returned to Leland's room for a quick shower. She got herself clean quickly, careful to properly dry out her hair - it was inadvisable to have a source of H[sub]2[/sub]O around white clothing.

Katie made a quick stop in her room to pick up a few essentials such as her passport, applied a hint of perfume and returned to the lounge, resuming her seat next to Leland. "Alright, I'm set to go. Hey, quick question. You mentioned staying at the Lodge earlier, and with all of this construction work going on outside, it'll be quieter there... and as an added bonus, it'll just be us, right?" She said the last part in a slightly quieter voice so the others wouldn't hear.

"Yeah it certainly will be quieter there. And the snow might be in already, that'd be nice too if that is the case," Leland responded, leaning in to hear her say the last part, "Oh yeah it should be empty. My mother said she and that coworker friend of hers that has to tag along won't be back until November, so we should be good there. Even if they were there the place is large enough where you can never run into anyone unless you wanted to. It did used to be a ski lodge."

He then saw Tommy and told him that himself and Katie were good to go. "Ethan is coming too, but is anyone else out of curiosity?" he asked after standing up and stretching once more. It was then that he made a quick whistle, Talbot flying through the lounge doors and landing on his shoulder.
