Most likely, this is not the case. Bill CAN die, certainly. But one screen shot from a game where Bill happened to be the person chose to stay behind doesn't mean anything. Meanwhile, Valve has released movie posters for, "The Passing" that include all 4 original survivors in silhouette, and 4 more posters of 3 silhouetted survivors, with a different original survivor missing each time.
No, Bill is definately the one who always died. Me and my friend played through The Passing several times already and he's always dead. I would have rather had it that none of the original survivors died at all, I loved them so much. But I hope that in the L4D DLC they make Bills death truly epic. Because although I think he would be the one to die first, I also think he would sacrifice himself in some cool manner so the rest of the team can live.

Rest in Peace, Bill. You will be missed. *Taps*

You do know that one of the guys dies randomlly it wont be said how actullly dies untill the next DLC.
I think that may have been scrapped because they couldn't get a hold of Bill's voice actor.
Do you think it'll be too much to re-patch the game with this feature once they get the voice actor back? I mean, if they can change the ending of Portal then they can change The Passing with a lot of work...
Portal was the easiest change ever- it wasn't even a change so much as it was a small addition. Changing the Passing, which they must have had to do once (seriously, the delay anyone? Reason has been found), would cause massive backlash and take a ton of time, and likely not be worth it in the end.

Did anyone else find the campaign kinda disappointing? I mean, the complexity of the levels didn't feel like they belonged in L4D2, they kind of felt more like l4d1.

I really don't get it. I'm sorta waiting for the punchline, actually.

Saying that a character in a multiplayer game 'dies' is like saying "The DEMOMAN dies in TF2! Like, canonically!" What are you talking about? He dies every day the 14-year-old kid plays as him and tries his rush strategy!
I am honestly really disappointed that Valve is resorting to standard sitcom TV Tropes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TonightSomeoneDies] for a game which never depended on any sort of dramatic storyline. HALF-LIFE, fine. Left 4 Dead? No.

Well, I found his body at the finale of the campaign. His corpse is slumped up against a generator with an assault rifle in his hands, so I'm willing to bet he went out killing mother fuckers left and right until he died. Also, it should be noted that Louis may have gotten injured as a result of what happened to Bill because he's sprawled out while Francis and Zoey are perfectly fine.

Kinda pissed that it wasn't Zoey, honestly.

Bill was a close second in my "want dead" list, though.

It's also very hard to hate Francis after this:

Lol that cheered me up.

You know what, Bill died punching a tank to death (his gun has full ammo), despite he was my favorite character, I'm happy he died with honor, as I'm pretty sure he knew it was time to entrust the future with the new generation. And like I said, he died a badass, seeing how he didn't die like a *****, I'll accept it.

Order of deaths shoudl have been :
Bill,
Francis,
Louis,
Zoey

But then Bill was the eldest and wouldn't be able to help rebuild the human population so I guess its for the best.
:p

Still havn't actually got L4D2 yet still think the origonal charectors are, well, cooler!

I gotta agree, I just this moment finished it; you barely hear any of the old characters speak (I don't think Zoey even had a line), the characters didn't interact all too well, and I didn't feel much about Bill being killed. I expected a lot more from it to be honest; I'm glad I got it for free on PC, because I would've been pretty disappointed had I paid for it on Live.

Also, if you'd like to know how Bill dies, he gets chased down a narrow hallway by a Witch riding on the back of a Tank, and hordes of zombies and special infected are rushing down the other end, when suddenly and unexpectedly, he dies of old age...

I sorta knew it was going to be Bill, but I didn't want to admit it to myself. He's probably my most favorite Survivor of the original L4D, and I always tried to play as him as much as I could. He'll be missed by me, but I hope his demise was at least worthy of epicness.

Although what slightly bugged me was that, during my play-through of The Passing, I only noticed what had happened to Bill due to his absence and his body. The other original Survivors didn't even mention squat about what had happened to Bill, and it bothered me. Y'all would think they'd have a bit more to say about their faithful leader character biting the dust, eh?

I think something tells me they didn't initially plan on killing Bill off and they waited and waited to get a hold of him and eventually said "screw it" and just killed him off and didn't think to record new dialogue to reflect this.

Old age is very bloody than,

and also it is only society's constraints that suggest he "can't" help rebuild humanity, males remain reproductively viable much longer than women (a lot less required of their body for a baby to be grown and birthed)...

maybe he had blood in his stools, and died while trying to poop it out
