If it was cheap then yes I would give it a go. Actually I have a better idea for mney. Flesh out and maybe update or deupdate the graphics for every single minigame ever put into a Final Fantasy game. Put them all into one game. Make it a party game. You're probably thinking this sounds stupid but after doing all this release it on the Wii, Move and Kinect and call it Fantasyware or Chocoboware or something along those lines. Also they could probably add a couple of 100 as well. Who would even want to play a children's card game? In America or Canada.

Was it Square Enix that made Kingdom Hearts?
As far as I remember without googling yes Square did make or at least have a big hand in making it.
I'll just side with you on this one. I mean, look at it logically from this very thread: Ye all seem to be bashing and praising different mini-games, so just stuff em all on a disk (like the Sega Genesis collections) so you can all pick and choose what you do and don't want to play. Then play it.

Now... The real thing is, do we want Square looking at this and taking these idea's, and actually using them? Honestly, I'm not sure
Well I don't think it would be an entirely bad idea if it was relatively cheap especially if it was aimed at something like the Wii but with normal controller support. Something like Warioware or Rayman Raving Rabbits style thing would suit it and let people play what they want.

LMAO the main reason people didn't like Blitz was the mandatory Champ game in 10, I haven't met anyone who actually won that game. (Secret: you can with the special Jecht shot, pass ball to Tidus and shoot like mad)

Once you get control of the team and actually play level up your team and can recruit it is awesome and addictive, I highly enjoyed it, Number 1 in League and win ever Tournie.

Secondly X2 was and I'll say it again was one of the most underrated games of the previous decade, and shame on the people who secretly liked it and keep silent about.

Blitz in x2 is great cause to don't have to play the games, your the manager/coach. I was just as stuck on that experience.

So yeah SE should make Blitz and maybe Triple Triad into a game and sell it on the PSNetwork
It is actually quite easy with the Jecht shot and then just when you get a comfortable lead ie about 3 ahead just play possession denail by passing around.

Final Fantasy started to go downhill after 10.

Why they had to give 11 & 14 numbers I don't know, why couldn't they have just called them Final Fantasy: Online.

I've found that the Dragon Quest games are far more enjoyable than the newer Final Fantasy games.

With SquareEnix making so many games that are spinoffs of the Final Fantasy series (and not all good...I'm looking at you, X-2!), I feel they missed a huge opportunity to make both a spin-off and the start of a new genre for the company.

A Stand-alone Blitzball game.

Think about it. Enhance the controls, add teams, have season mode, career mode, bigger draft pool (pardon the pun!), this could have been epic! I mean, I know I played at LEAST 4 games of Blitzball every time I loaded my save file, and I always started my time with FFX playing a game and ended my time playing a game.

You know what? I can't even say they've entirely "missed" the chance yet...if they decided to do it now, I'd STILL be first in line to pick this game up.

Sigh...all this talk has made me look over at my PS2 game stack...I gotta play some Blitzball now. Anyone agree with me that this game could have been amazing?
You know I hate sports games but I would actually play that.

There's no logic that can defend such a poorly designed game...it's the ultimate representation of everything the industry has become - flash and instant gratification over depth and complexity - with a story with more plot holes than many realize, and one of the most dull, repetitive combat systems created, due entirely to the appalling game design.

the true successors to the franchise: Lost Odyssey and the Final Story.
The Last Story you mean, though I agree with the sentiment.

As for the OP : As many people have said Blitzball wasn't well designed, nor entertaining to the masses. Beyond which why would it bring them a "bit payout"? It's not like a spin-off game like that would sell millions whatever it was about...

I agree with you but You forgot FF 12 which was basicaly return of the jedi, and as far as blitzball I have lost count of the amount of times I had to restart because I wanted wakka's team to win in the main story, after that I never wanted to play it again.

Urge to kill rising. Do not anger the JinxyKatte.

I am sick of attempting to defend FF13 with logic and well thought out posts. Too many times have I attempted such a feat.

So I will simply say while you are entitled to your opinion of the game. I personally thought it was awesome.

I was gonna start shouting profanities at you but honestly I cant be arsed. It would accomplish anything.

So thats all I have to say on the matter.

Oh and go jump in front of a moving bus :)
But you do have to admit he was right about FF14 ;)
I refuse to comment on FF14 on the grounds I have not played it and cannot make an informed decision.
Oh you can in this case. Square themselves have apologised for messing up, brought in a new team leader and given an indefinite free trial until they say it's fixed!

I would buy it if they ever made it, as I fucking love Blitzball.
However, would they have made a huge amount of money off of it? No, not at all.

As this thread has proven, most of the people who played FF X hated Blitzball and I hated it at first. The match against the Goers in the story is fucking impossible unless you get the Jecht shot and even then, it's as hard as trying to thread a needle while an elephant tap-dances on your spin wearing anvils. It's only when you get to play it outside of the story, it gets easy. The Goers suddenly aren't fucking godly and are the third best team in the league, after the Al Bhed Pysches and the Guado team, both of which will kick your ass unless you spam the Jecht shot.

So...yeah. I'd buy it, get into it, hate it then love it when I get a killer team. Although it would probably sell about 500 copies, making them a sum of money that would vanish in a day as they pay the staff that made the game with the profits the game made, so it wouldn't be worth it.

Blitzb-...God no. That would be right up there with XIII and XVI.

Now the card game from VIII...that'd be worth investing in.
As long as it's not the card game from 9, which failed to properly explain itself by having no clear value for a card's strength, just weird symbols you had to go out of your way to figure out.

Who stops in the middle of trying to save the world to go enter a Blitzball tournament anyway?
Who stops saving the world to play a card game? Who stops saving their kingdom so they can shoot a slingshot in a shooting gallery or to make sure they catch the biggest fish in town history? It's not just FF, but all games, such as the Legend of Zelda references, that have things you can do to split from the monotony of the main story.

And to clear up a couple of things that I was trying to say, yes, I might be a little biased, since my two favorite game genres are RPGs and Sports games, but I was asking people to be subjective on this and not just to say "I hate it so everyone would hate it".

Also, I wasn't saying do a direct port of the Blitzball in FFX...I know it had massive limitations, that's why I said improve it. Here's some ideas that I've thought of:

-Make it a 3D globe to move in rather than the straight line players had to swim on.
-Eliminate having the whole game stop when the ballcarrier was caught to have the little "what do I do?" choices. Rather, just give them moves to steal and evade to do on the fly.
-More teams, more players
-Have multiple modes. Exhibition for single games, Season for a tournament, Career mode that lets you create a player and see how he can grow and get into the league (could have RPG elements, like leveling up and getting better stats), and maybe a Franchise mode, where you create a whole team and see how long it takes to get good players and become a dynasty.
-Multiplayer, and maybe online support.
-Improved graphics (but that's a given)

Like I said, not everyone likes sports games, but if you think subjectively on this, this could have been HUGE for them...first off, I think there's enough of a fanbase for this game to take off, and secondly, it could get SquareEnix thinking on another genre. They've done fighting games, and obviously RPGs, but now they could break into the sports genre, and that's a very lucrative market.

@ Louzon

You basically lined up the game now just add a some cameo / crossover teams and it'll be a highlight because who wouldn't play with the Chrono Trigger, Grandia or the Mana series team. Let alone have good and bad guy teams from all the FF games.

I personally loved Blitzball it basically played like the old school Captain Tsubasa games. Now SE just needs to throw Wada in Mtn. Fuji so they can get back into making and publishing quality games.

I LOVED Blitzball. If they did it, I would buy it. Better yet, if it was multiplayer, AND the pre-order bonus was a full-size blitzball. SO MUCH WIN!

Sadly, I know Square-Enix is almost incapable of making good choices, which his the only reason they have not realized what BANK they would make by remaking FFVI/VII. What's worse, is that they're butt-hurt that no one likes their newer games, so they keep hating on their past stuff, seeing if the sheep that many of us are will come to believe them.

Nice. I don't know about a $60 full game. But a beefy $25-$29 DLC game would be pretty sweet. Blitzball was bad, really bad at first..but once you got the hang of it, it was wicked fun. I spent hours going over stat sheets, searching, and recruiting new players for my team.

And of course this...
