As the dust and chunks of shrapnel filled the air, Muokilaxes was rushing towards the nearest guard. The man turned just in time to be leveled by the charging ferrax. Muokilaxes then drove his armored head into the unfortunate man's face, and heard a crunch as something broke. He picked up the man's shotgun and opened fire at the group of Followers beginning who seemed to be creating the most organized resistance. Closing the distance as fast as he could run, he grabbed one of the living followers with his forearms, and grabbed the unfortunate followers shotgun with his free grasping arm.
Dragging the man backwards, he threw one of the shotguns towards where he believed James and Kalade had last been.
Holding his unfortunate hostage before him like a shield, he looked towards the king and Lime. "Thor!" He bellowed "Where are you?" the surprise was wearing off, and some of the Followers looked as through they would stand with their king to the bitter end.

Thor finally found the rest of the team. They were in a death fight with a group of followers. "I'm right behind you Muokilaxes" he shouted through the comm. Thor was on the far side of the hanger. He knelt down to one knee and raised a scavenged beam rifle. The first target in his scope was holding a weapon up against Lime. Thor took the shot. The beam cut through the top of his extended arm.

The king howled in pain, dropping everything to grab his wound, which was mostly just superficial. But it did unknown to Thor probably save their ass'.

He tried to get off a second shot to finish the man off, depressing the trigger nothing happened. 'Fuck battery is dead'. Thor dropped the gun and pulled out his blaster. He began running across the hanger to get to an accurate range.

James grabbed the shotgun out of the air and pumped it as he brought it to bear towards one of the kings men. Kalade flinched as a blast of lead and hot gas erupted from the end of the gun to strike down one of their atackers. James pumped another round into the chamber and stood up. "Get to the ship." He told Kalade, who then scrabbed off towards the Corona. James took another shot at a foe about to attack Muokilaxes from behind, and ran for the stairs leading to the balcony. Bullets wised by him as he jogged up the curved stair case, and James fired another shot over the railing. Once at the top he looked at the King cradling his wound, grabbed the camera, and started to head back towards the stairs.

Commander Cerise had made her way down to Engineering, followed closely by the operatives that Captain Vance had left with her. She wanted to see how this ship ran. The acquisition of the Astrid Engineer Demexin had not been her doing, so she was curious as to just what the alien had done to the engines. She found him monitoring the water coolant system.

"Chief Engineer Demexin?"

"Yeah, what do you want?" he said, not looking up from his work. "I'm kinda busy here if you haven't noticed. The Crelm crew members start whining if the submerged decks aren't the proper temperature. Stupid jellyfish don't realize what I go through to keep their precious fish tank running!"

"Fish tank?" said Cerise through the translator. If she had eyebrows, this would be the perfect moment to raise one in skepticism.

"You heard me. I could also go on about how they ***** about having to wear pressurized suits on the main decks, or how they stand behind me while I work asking stupid questions!"

"Foreman, turn around, now." she said forcefully. Demexin reluctantly turned to face her, but there was no fear in his eyes, just contempt. "Your lack of discipline would have you court marshaled on my ship. However, I must abide by naval regulations, and relinquish disciplinary action to your captain. I will, however, see to it that it does happen.

"Now then, I am here on an inspection run. Your Captain's decision to stay in the Solar System for New Years has put you behind schedule, so I am taking the opportunity to view firsthand the modifications applied to this vessel. You, being the Chief of Engineering, will show me the Faster Than Light Drive that you so kindly installed for us."

Demexin huffed, and glared at the group. "Sure, this way, after me." he said, waving his arms. [small]"Insufferable pricks, think they're superior all the time...."[/small]

They arrived at the starboard engine cluster, where one of the uplinks to the FTL drive attached to the rocket boosters. The drive was running at low power for the moment, ready for a burst jump, but idling. Cerise moved towards with with an air of curiosity. "How does it work?"

"Oh, well it's quite simple. It radiates gamma charges, which are reflected off of the Kydorian Crystal Shards that actuate the flexinometer coupled to the Millins rotator, which turns it into a burst of relativistic speedometers that fly through a mass acceleronter and mix with the Exilim fuel." Demexin noted that Til Wing had flushed green with amusement.

"Interesting." said Cerise. "Now, can you tell me what that gibberish actually meant?

"Sure thing. It translates to "Why in the three moons do you keep asking me stupid questions if you wouldn't even understand the damn answer?"

Thor jumped into the ship. They had the camera, they had their ship. Now all that was missing was Rivers at the crash site. "Ok kiddies, you heard Lime. Lets go I don't want to die this close to the finish line". Thor clambered over to the pilots seat and took manuel control. Soon as everyone was on board he'd shoot out the doors and they'd make good getting Rivers than escape.

While Til, Mae and Brian were dealing with Commander Cerise, Captain Vance made his way through the ship to the infirmary, making sure he passed through the narrower and quieter routes to avoid bumping into the giant Crelm again. The corridors seemed even quieter than usual; perhaps the crew was still recovering from the lockdown which Lisa had ended just a few minutes earlier.

To lose a corp already, even before we've left the Sol system... what the fuck did I do wrong? Maybe I'm not cut out for this work?

When he entered the infirmary the Captain consciously had to stop himself from making an expression of disgust, the room stunk of blood and chemicals and in a number of beds crew members lay in various states on injury. At the far end two beds had bodies covered in sheet.

"Morning Captain," Nate called but he wasn't wearing his usual smile. "One of the causalities over there was the saboteur, the other was Krooan."

"Did you know him well?" The Captain asked, shamefully he couldn't even remember much about the Schrier ambassador who had usually kept to himself.

"A bit," Nate admitted with a sad expression on his face "He was quite curious about S.U. medical techniques, and he visited here several times for join-pain treatment. He used to say... he used to say that he wanted to be able to run properly again for when he got back to his pups at home. Now those kids will have to grow up without a father" The doctor fell silent, his face wooden but his eyes brighter than normal. Captain Vance remembered with a jolt that in Dr Harris' personal file it had mentioned he had lost his own father at quite a young age.

"I guess there wasn't anything we could do," The Captain said slowly, desperately trying to think of a way to change the subject "Have any kids of your own?"

"Between none and two," Dr Harris replied in the same dejected tone "My wife's pregnant with our first, the scans say it'll be a boy. We're going to name him Peter. We're also fostering a toddler whose mother is a drug-addict; we're hoping that we can eventually adopt her if our applications are accepted. How about yourself?"

"No, not me, not really my... sort of thing, luckily my ex-wife agreed." Captain Vance replied, normally he was far more open about his dislike for the "little bastards" but he sensed now wasn't the time to antagonise the doctor. "Let's hear about this saboteur then."

"Sure," Nate nodded and stepped over to the furthest bed from the door, picking up a clipboard in readiness.

Tom whooped in joy as Corona 1 smashed through the Followers' Compound walls. They were actually going to make it back to the ship alive. Lisa, sensing his excitement, decided to comment.

"You realize that the difficult part will be getting them back aboard the ship without alerting the Alsvior and the Commander, right?"

Tom stopped dancing. "Oh, right. I suppose I should get on that. Any ideas? Could you hack the Alsvior's sensors to hide the ship from their tracking beacons?"

"The Alsvior operates on a separate Intelligence system than mine. Each ship within the Diplomatic Corps does so to avoid breaches in electronic security. We will have to find a way within the Star Brigade's own systems to keep them hidden."

"Hmm, think think think. I've got it!" said Tom, snapping his fingers. "The Commander thinks you're defective, right Lisa? How about this? Overload the external lights on the Star Brigade! We can't fool their sensors, but we can blind their visuals. Also, if the docking lights go haywire, then we could sneak the transport back on."

"Understood Mr. Anderson. Overloading now. I will darken the inner canopy to prevent ocular damage."

Mae clacked his flat teeth together and moved between the commander and Demexin, facing Cerise. "Commander! I can assure you that the our Engineer's have all of our ship's systems under control. Besides, unless you plan on taking apart the machinery, there's nothing an inspection will uncover. Now if we were to head to the Crew quarters, you may find the inspection to be more to your liking." His teeth were clenched and bare underneath his helmet, but his voice was tainted with the lightest touch of urgency and shock.

Cerice pondered for a moment and nodded. "Very well. Though I hope the rest of the crew has a better idea on how to treat their superiors. She accented that last part with a glare aimed right at the Astrid, though it didn't seem to effect him at all. He simple grumbled as a response and turned his attention back to work.

Mae let the commander and his companions leave the room first, before following. Though he did give a second to give Demexin an approving nod of his head before shuffling behind the inspection team.

James ran over to the shuttle and hopped in, shotgun in his left hand, camera in his right. He set the camera down behind a seat and took another shot at a crowd of men. James didn't pause to see if he hit anyone, but instead ducked behind another seat to reload, as his gun was emty. "Lets get out of here!" he shouted towards the cockpit.

Commander Cerise marched towards the crew's quarters, the corps assigned to her trailing behind and trying to keep up without running. The Crelm had a cursory glance around the cabin's one to four, with a audible tut at the final one's messiness.

"I can see at-least four disciplinary regulations which are definitely not being followed in these cabins, make a note for the Captain to have this cleared up."

The Commander continued down the corridor, stopping in front of cabin five. She brushed against the door with her tentacles for a few seconds, before trying the handle.

"Sorry Commander, due to safety protocol cabin five is currently under lockdown, awaiting further repair." Lisa's voice emanated happily from a nearby speaker "I strong advise not over-riding the protocol; it still hasn't been fully cleared up yet."

Cerise looked confused, or at-least as much as a Crelm could, at the final statement and turned on Mae, Til and Brian.

"What exactly does she mean by that? Think it would be possible for me to take a look inside, it's unusual to have such problems in a new ship. Maybe I can shed some light on this since your engineers are apparently too incompetent to find a simple answer!"

Thor docked the ship into the Brigades hanger bay. The surface mission had gone horribly awry, the group got separated, they lost their fighter craft and a man was hurt because of Muokilaxes actions. Thankfully everyone came out alive and they were able to retrieve the camera. Thor knew though they were going to be torn a new on once Lime gave his report to Commander Cerise and Vance, the Commander would also tear Vance's organs out when she found out Kalade came down to a hostile environment. The moment would be all to delicious to miss, wether he actually got roped in with the rest. Thor was only trying to do what was best the whole time. "Lets get Rivers to medical"!

James lifted Rivers, who was sporting an ugly bruise on his forehead, into his arms. "I'll get him." he said. Before leaving, James turned to Lime. "Cerise doesn't know about this. Let?s keep it that way." If the Commander learned of this mission, it could prove disastrous for all their careers, especially for Captain Vance?s. If Lime decided to deliver his report, he would have a more than a few enemies in engineering; James would make sure of that. But there were more important things to worry about now, like the fact that both Rivers and he needed medical attention. Not waiting for Lime?s response, James walked out of the hanger towards the Infirmary, hoping that he wouldn?t run into Cerise on his way.

"Ya, I guess." James said, not really paying any attention to the alien. He was hauling an unconscious man though the ship and his back had started to bleed again, so chatting wasn't really the first thing on his mind. Kalade seemed to realize this and, although she continued to walk along with James, she didn't speak.

Soon enough they arrived at the Infirmary where Nate and several nurses were busy tending to a plethora of patients, both human and otherwise. "Got two more for ya, doc." James said as he carefully placed Rivers down on an open bed.

"OK, who's the second?" the doctor responded, clearly confused.

"Me" James answer as he sat himself down on the cot next to Rivers. "I got a bullet wound in my back, but I think Rivers condition is more serious."

"Ya, your right. I'll have one of my nurses work on you. Stacy, get over here." A young women came over to Nate. "This man has a bullet wound in his back." he said, pointing at James. "Take care of it."

"Yes, doctor" Stacy said, and James removed his jacket to show her the wounds.

Thor stepped out the small landing craft. He tapped the side of his helmet "Lisa"?

"Yes Pilot Thor"?

"I told you to just call me Thor". Thor rolled his eyes as this was about the 7th time he'd told her. "Call me Pilot one more time and I won't be responsible for locking the controls and crashing us into the moon"!

"Yes Thor, I've noted to address you as Thor. Is there anything else I can help you with" the AI seemed overly cheery when she said that. She likes to help, and Thor had no issue with her eagerness. It seemed refreshing to him.

"Yes, inform the Captain of our return, and send this private message to Lime before he gets to debriefing". Thor cleared his throat. "Due to the Captains rash decision to send Kalade with us. I'm advising you to make no mention of her in your report. For her and the Captains sake. Should you ignore this, I shall personally testify to your incompetents on the mission in your inability of command. And I shall cite the reasons for it directly to Commander Cerise. It's in everyones interests that you follow this. End message". Thor sighed loudly inside his helmet. "Send message. And Lisa please try to follow what I said as well. I don't want anyone being taken off the ship for what happened today if it can be helped".

"Message sent" Lisa gave no other response to his request.

Thor hoped she'd go along. She seemed to care about Kalade's safety. He'd see just how much of an AI Lisa was should the issue be raised. Thor removed his helmet after he left the hanger and held it under his arm. *Stomach growling* "Haha, snack before debriefing sounds good". A quick stop at the mess hall was in order, than to the bridge.

Captain Vance tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for Nate to deal with James and a couple of others returning from the excursion on Earth. He knew their needs were more important than his but that didn't stop him feeling annoyed, even when he received the message from Thor officially informing him of the team's return.

Finally once Nate had managed to delegate the new medical tasks onto a couple of subordinates, he returned to the Captain to resume his explanation of what had been discovered about the saboteur.

"Well the face has been somewhat damaged by the drop in air pressure, although it seems the cause of death was asphyxia rather than physical damage. Aside from tools used to cause the leak, the only object of important we found on his body was this."

The doctor handed Captain Vance a battered laminated card.

Spaceship Class B Piloting Licence

Name: Jaden Karl Northover
DOB: 30/08/5218
Pilot No: 1192003819
Address: 28, Pinhoe Wing, Davenport Sector, New Terra
Street Code: NTD 1342
"So this is definitely him?" The Captain asked, studying the small picture embedded in the side of the card. The name seemed familiar from somewhere but he couldn't quite recall where.

"It's certainly the same man which is lying under that sheet" Nate replied grimly "He wasn't a registered member of the crew, under that name or any other. How he got on here without alerting anyone is a mystery to me. What do you plan next, if you don't mind me asking."

"I'll get Lisa to contact the New Terran police, see if they can pay Mr Northover's house a visit and do a records check for who he actually is. We can't rule out a threat from others yet, not until we know what his motives were."

"You think there might be more of them?"

"If there's one thing I've learned from my time in the military, it's never to underestimate your enemy. The security on this ship is meant to be new technology, I wager it must have taken a whole team to get one man aboard."
