How did I prove your point? It was realistic to an extent. I never said it was reality to a tee I said it was vaguely realistic. The CoD series was also supposed to be semi realistic to a point where you need a certain degree of suspension of disbelief or atleast that is how it started. I never said it was Arma or Flashpoint.
Every game is realistic "to an extent"... the CoD series has always pushed these extents pretty far, and MW2 took realism and shat on it, covered it with honey, and put it in a beehive.

Oh look, a 40 MM grenade just blew me up behind that wall... Not that BC2 is any more realistic in that aspect though.

Yeah, you could say the same thing for world of warcraft as well. Nothing is going to be better than it.

KillZone 2's sluggish controls will be fixed for KillZone 3, I am a happy headless teddybear for that.

I'm the opposite of you Taipan, I think COD should be challenged, otherwise how else would it better itself, if it had no competition?
What? Failsauce. KZ2's sluggish controls were the second best part. The first best part being the gun that shot a spike that stuck people to walls. And then exploded.

Which game are you talking about?

If it's any of the ones the OP stated then read the first sentence of the part of my post you quoted.

Also, you're criticising the game because you can't walk in a straight line through a doorway?
Don't get me wrong, Bad Company 2 is a great game and has totally been worth the 2 days Ive spent in it, it just has one horrible game breaking bug. It has horrible controls. If I am being shot at and my only means of escape is a door 4 feet behind me and two feet to the left, I can tell you I won't be getting there easily. That is the problem with the game. It is a chore to get to places, and one on ones with other players seem very "who sees who first".

I did. And I disagree with you. I haven't played Killzone 2, but I have played CoD and BC2. CoD does it perfectly with sensitivity and great controlling. BC2 does it horribly with its clunkly controls, and it is near impossible to find a senstivity level that you like. I am not the only one who complains about this.

I say this, not because I'm an obsessed, overzealous kewboard warrior, but because there just really isnt any point in doing it anymore.

COD has just well, nailed it. At least, better than anyone else really has.

I rented out and played Medal of Honour recently, along with Killzone 2 and Bad Company to see how they stacked up, and by comparison they were just awful. Sure, maybe they wouldnt be so bad if I didnt have something better to compare them to, but for christ sake they bored me.

Aiming the weapons was a sluggish chore, point blank hails of bullets took a solid 6 seconds to bring down an enemy, the close combat animations were lame, the characters were highly punchable, the story was broken and unfocused and badly told, and the set pieces made me yawn.

As Yahtzee once said, popular things are often popular for a reason, because they are good.

So who agrees? Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing about "COD killers" and just wish these bland imitations would stop so new first person shooters could just be good on their own merit, or is it actually possible to knock COD off its perch with a new title? (That would be, off its perch in its prime, not when it starts releasing endless successions of clones after MW3.)
I don't agree with the constant bashing of Modern Warfare 2, which is often based on just because it's popular or what kind of players they think are playing it.

It sounds like you were prejudiced in your comparison, though. I prefer Bad Company 2. And nothing can still top Counter-Strike: Source in the end.

All realistic war-time shooters should die.
Yea, to me they are all boring. Every single gun is about bullet coming out, just at different speed, fire rate, acce. Yes they are try to add twist to it now, like exp arrows, flaming bullet, but they are limit by one thing "Realism".

Exactly. This is how innovation works, improve to beat the competition.

Also, you're dead wrong. All of the other FPSs kick MW2's ass.

Funny. I don't openly despise MW, but any of the games you mention rate higher, much higher than MW to me.

Also, I hope you realize you do sound an awful lot like an insulted fanboy.

You know what?

We should stop trying to challenge Pac-Man. No other ghost-evading, fruit-gobbling game will ever come close to it. And while we're at it, we should stop looking for alternatives to sails and oars - ships cross the ocean just fine with them. And starting a fire by smashing two stones together over some kindling - how are you ever gonna improve on that?

I sincerely hope that the OP is a Kotick plant or is just flame-baiting, because otherwise, he's a total fucking tool.

While we're at it, can somebody PLEASE try and challenge Jane's AH-64D Longbow? 14 years, and still no flight sim comes close...
What about Falcon 4.0?

Why?

They are fun.
I understand that people have fun with them (personally i think the fun is limited), but at this point the idea of shooting at either WWII enemies or Middle East enemies just seems boring.

When the CEO of the company says the people that market the game is more important than developers, I wonder if the popularity comes from marketing or gameplay?

Sorry mate, it's opinion and majority rules. COD was great up until number 6.
Oh and you miss quotes Yahtzee - he said some things are popular for a reason.

I'm pretty sure there's an option to change sensitivity, so that arguments kind of invalid.

Like COD?
Give me a fucking break, will you...
It basically solved the problem of camping. It removed everything that was annoying about COD to me.
Whats the FIRST game it, or any other recent "realistic war game" gets compared to? Go on, hazard a wild guess.
The answer is "I don't give a shit".
I seriously don't.
The only reason it gets compared to COD is because COD has a very large community, and it also happens to be a game about people shooting guns. The difference in gameplay between these games is immense.
Many people who got tired from the monotonous, already-done-a-million-times type of gameplay that COD had to offer switched over to BC2 and found a game that is actually balanced and offers a breath of fresh air from all of the other arcade shooters out there.
Wait, BF2:BC isn't an arcade shooter?

Wow they sure are generous with the usernames said:
imho each genre of game should have one game. WoW for MMO's, Madden for sports, Civ 5 for RTS, CoD for everything else, etc. every year there should be a competition to determine which single game would be played over the year, and it would be a tournament style gladiatorial arena between the lead designers of different games. think thunderdome but nerdier.

Edit: actually just think thunderdome
Please tell me your tongue is firmly lodged in your cheek...

Well never played MoH (The new one), only played demo of Bad company and rented Killzone 2...I preferred them much more than CoD, I don't know why, I just did. It may be because after the repetitiveness of CoD online I couldn't enjoy it anymore! (Except zombies...I love me some zombies!) I did enjoy the story of CoD but it was one of the more repetitive and unbalanced games I've played, ever.
