That "I might need it later" in RPG's is common as anything. I have it, you have it, TVtropes has it:

Aside from that, I usually try and play a good character/paladin/whatever. In Bioshock I felt so... dirty finding out what the evil ending was.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned that weird compulsion to ALWAYS build your RTS armies in powers of 2 or multiples of 12.

I'm also a 100% completionist (within reason, I didn't go scouring the landscape for every last flag in Assassin's Creed); I think I restarted Metroid Prime twice because I missed a one-time scan.

I always play the "good guy," if given a choice.

Here's one that I've actually never seen anyone else reference: in games such as Halo, where you can pick up enemy weapons, I will always stick with the weapons of my side unless I have no other option. This even applies in multiplayer (except for the energy sword, of course).

Two things.

I think we all did the first in Pokemon, Mashing a button hoping that it's affecting the capture rate some how.

The second is odd, for some reason I can't release Pokemon I know their just data it's WEIRD.
Am I the only one who pressed down and B when throwing a pokeball? Like, fucking always. I probably still would.

When I'm playing an online FPS, I reload too much. Sometimes I get away with it (like in TF2), but a lot of times it gets me shot down (in COD4 mainly). I also check the ammo of weapons I haven't used yet, just to be safe. Also because it feels awesome.

i still do the pokemon one now even on the DS i tap the touch screen and mash the buttnons
and on a FPS i reload all the time when ever im shot im reloading

it gets annoying in left 4 dead since the charater says reloading, and with me every of sound is me saying that.

In Half Life 1 and 2, I never get around to using the revovler with the thought of 'I'll use this for something big' and then that "something big" turns out to be more of a puzzle than shooting at it.

Gaming is my general compulsion. I don't tend to have compulsions within compulsions.

I reload all-the-time in any given FPS, even if I've just spent a couple of rounds. This usually gets me in tons of shit when I play Cod4 online, always reloading in the wrong moment.

I'm a leaner. Mostly in driving games, but sometimes in FPS's. The only time I don't move is when I am so tired or hungover that I'm clinically dead.

I also have terrible habit of not finishing games. I am pathetic for not finishing games. I'm looking at my copy of Far Cry 2 and I know that I am probably never going to finish it.

I played mostly brawlers and platform games when I was a kid, so my first impulse in a 1st person shooter is to run up and melee the opponent.

Turning on a fighting game just to play training mode with the A.I. set to maximum difficulty for 30 minutes to see if I've gotten rusty.

Ghost Recon on anything but recruit. Seriously.

They track the ammo in every magazine. Instead of getting a fresh one I keep moving down in the numbers, getting lower and lower until I have 6 magazines with 3 bullets each in, at the most.

Whenever me and my friend play a co-op game on the xbox such as GoW and we unlock an achievement we always go "oh yeah (achievement name and the number of points)" and high-5. Don't know why but we just do.

Also on racing games I always try to crash or handbrake turn over the finishing line to make it more 'dramatic.

On Pokemon I always hated buying pokeballs because if the pokemon broke free I thought it had been wasted, regardless of the massive stack of cash I had.

Basically any game with 3D environments:

I get super-angry if I'm exploring a dungeon or area or whatever, and I accidentally manage to reach the 'end' and get tossed into a cut scene. The whole time I'm watching, I'm seething because SOMEWHERE back there there's an alley I didn't go down, or a tunnel branch I didn't check out. Even worse is if, post-cut scene, you find yourself in a new area when you regain control. WHAT WAS DOWN THAT OTHER PATH??? WAS IT TREASURE?? Reset time, every time.

1. Cleaning the gunk out of my controllers.

Especially after other people have been using it. Other people seem to have comparatively grimy hands.

My hands used to be really dry; enough so that when I picked up a controller I could feel if someone else had used it.
_____
2. I always cycle through the main screen once before starting a new game. Just to know if there's anything special.
_____
3. If I control saving at all I always make 5 saves and cycle through them. I've never had to backtrack to an old save though and will strive for a long time before even thinking to try.
_____
4. When I get a new system I smell it. New systems smell like cartridges from back in the SNES days.
_____

... Wow it's weird to read those.
