Mega Man X
- To finish off a boss, I'll fully charge a shot, then jump right at the boss' face and fire it at point blank range
- When a boss is nearly dead, I'll stop attacking them and let them attack, just so I can have fun jumping around and dodging them

Smash Bros. Brawl
- When using Ganondorf or Bowser, and facing an opponent who has 1 life when I have 2 or more, I will attempt to kill them with a suicide move (Forward B), even when it's more effective to use a different method.
- When an opponent is on their last life and falling to their death with no chance of recovery, I will follow them down and intercept their falling body with a completely unnecessary aerial attack. When playing as Ganondorf or Bowser, yep. It's suicide time.

In FPS's I sometimes waste ammo just so i can have an even amount of reserve ammo that is divisable by the number of bullets my gun carries. Of course 'I might need it later' is a big one. And being furious if i accidentally stand on or use a health pack when i'm on 99% health. I don't do it so much now but I always used to exhale sharply through my nose when I fired a gun.
In RPG's like Fallout and Oblivion I'll spend ages trying to jump on to a ledge, especially if i can see something up there.
In RTS's sometimes I'll make a huge, impenetrable base and sit for hours watching the AI's puny attempts at attack. Then, even if the AI has stopped trying and sold all it's buildings, I'll come with some elaborate plan to finish it off, like distracting it on one side then flying in a commando or something to blow up their base.
In Zelda or something similar, I'll run around picking up hearts and bottles of magic, even I don't need them. It just seems like such a waste when they fade away.

I have the reloading problem as well.
I play a lot of L4D nowadays, and when I get incapacitated (you can't move, are lying on the floor and the only weapon you can use is a pistol) I will constantly reload after firing 3 bullets, max. This often leaves me reloading whilst there are still a dozen or so infected stomping on my face :<

On the subject of the controller needing to feel right, I have the same thing with my mouse (don't have a console). If there's the slightest bit of grit or dirt on the bottom that changes the feel of the mouse's movement then I have to stop and change it around. It just feels wrong.

Me? I have to knife someone if they're within 3-5 meters in Cod4(range differes depending on game) I can successfully kill at 4 meters while-they-are-shooting-at-me, with great consistancy, but at the 5 meter mark it sharply curves into lethal. I don't know what it is, I'm a good shot and all, they'd die and I'd be gauranteed the opportunity to walk away to kill another day, but I just gotta.

I say "ow" when I get shot in FPS's
Me too..

Another one I just thought of. In Morrowind I HAD to steal all of the pillows. When I eventuantually got to the mission where you gotta kill rats in a hut owned by an old lady who makes pillows, I laughed for twenty minutes.

Playing horror games for the first time without volume.

Seeing what happens if I wrong someone who helped me, like killing the people I save on assassin's creed.

Thats pretty much all of mine.

I can't count how much time I have wasted doing pointless party/inventory management in RPGs. Almost everytime I beat an area, I have to go to a shop, buy/sell whats needed, and check every last piece of data of my game file. Shooters are similar, but less complex. After every single fight I have to make sure every weapon has a full clip and has full ammo that can be carried, and then walk around for 3 minutes looking for other weapons and ammo, and I even get paranoid when I have to go to the next fight without full ammo, even if I have 320/350 bullets. This is in contrast to others I know who just kill everyone, advance, kill everyone, advance, etc. I still don't know why I do that.

I have the "I might need it later" issue, I've never, EVER, used a potion of any kind in Castlevania, not even on the last boss (try to figure that out).

Sometimes I read/listen to the data the game throws in just for the heck of it (the codex in Mass Effect) without intending to, even when I don't want or care to, and end up wasting a lot of time.

Reload after every time I shoot my gun, this started when I was really big on playing BattleFront on the xbox with my friends, and the sniper reloaded slow as fuck.
Another would be the opposite of the "I might need this later" syndrome, because as soon as I get a new toy, I use all the ammo up in about 4 seconds....then I am killed by the huge monster that the weapon was intended for.....Then I repeat the mistake several more times.

Yeah totally, pads need to feel right, I don't know what constitutes them feeling right but they just do
I get that feeling too. Strange thing is, I have two Gamecube controllers. On the one that I've used more frequently, the control stick is looser than the other controller's stick. When I play Mega Man Anniversary Collection on the Gamecube, I find it easier to slide (hold down and press jump) while walking forward (holding down-forward on the stick and jumping), than with the other controller. On the other controller, I push the stick right against the lower-right corner, and Mega Man ends up jumping instead of sliding. But with the loose controller, doing the same thing will end up with a slide.

I break my space bar key with every new keyboard so that it feels the same as the first one I leaned to play source on.

In a fighting game I'll button mash to reduce damage when I'm caught in a move that does continuous damage (certain grapples and super combos, for example) even when I've seen hard evidence that it does absolutely nothing. Same for submission holds/pin attempts in wrestling games. You could show me the game data itself, captured RAM states, and even the raw code, explain how I'm doing absolutely no good, and I'll still do it.

I have to kill every monster in the room/on screen. In Zelda games this isn't so bad. It slows me down but I'm getting hearts in rupees. However, I also do this in Resident Evil and Silent Hill games where it's mostly just a waste of ammo. It doesn't matter. I have to kill ALL OF THEM. It took serious effort to play stealth games for me. I can't just sneak past guards. There's some nagging voice in the back of my head screaming for their death. ...Maybe I should talk to a professional about that...

For me its Talking to EVERYONE in a game, even if its some nameless npc I have to walk over and keep clicking on it a couple of times just to make sure it doesnt say anything unuaual. Also i have to save every 4 seconds because god forbid i replay ANY part of a game.

When I'm playing an online FPS, I reload too much. Sometimes I get away with it (like in TF2), but a lot of times it gets me shot down (in COD4 mainly). I also check the ammo of weapons I haven't used yet, just to be safe. Also because it feels awesome.
I also do this. It just makes everything better knowing you have enough ammo to deal with whats round the next bend. Unless you reload and get shot - like I used to on COD4 all the time.

I also have that one Yatzee described, the "but I might need it later" one.
I have exactly the opposite problem. Whenever I get a big gun, I have to use it right away, mowing down the grunts but then only having the piss weak weapons to fight the elites with.

My RTS problem is that I will never build a proper offensive army until I have researched every technology I possibly can.
Yeah, I have that RTS one, too. It's actualy the reason why I'm so shit at them.

Haha, yeah, I do that. Strangly, I never trash-talk in multiplayer.

Whenever playing Persona 3, I feel the need to read the Social Link lines in a voice which characterises that Arcana. I sometimes do this in games with no VA, as well.
