It's a simple question with simple background.

GameStop has Street Fighter IV for $20. OK, sounds nice. Go out, get it, I'm all excited...

...does anyone else think that this was one of the most pathetically broken fighting games ever? Just want to make sure I'm not the only one.

I have a good history in the fighting game genre. There's no lack of knowing how to make a fighter do what he needs to do, so I'm not doing it wrong. I've played Virtua Fighter 4 and I know that I AM doing that wrong, but it's not really my thing anyway. This game can't even seem to figure out what a fireball is. I even did a test with Crimson Viper to see if the developers had a brain cell in their head, and she will actually pull off her quarter back move occassionally when I'm actually doing quarter-circle forward. At a standstill. In training.

Seriously, I cannot be the only one.
What platform are you using ? Also Pad or stick?

If you are using a pad , i blame the wonky D-Pad or over sensitive analogue stick . I had problems playing that game with a XBOX game pad . Seriously the controls were terrible . When i changed to an arcade stick , well everything improved ( and i didn't have previous experience with a stick). This is just what i think . The game isn't broken, the initial hardware sucks .

Now if you play on stick and have a problem despite having previous stick knowledge , well the. I don't know .

I think I played the Super version and found it a lot of fun. One of the issues I always had with a lot of 3D fighter (Tekken and Soul Caliber particularly) was that a lot of characters had cheap button mashing moves that meant a newbie could take out someone who played it every day (I know because I was often that noob).

SSF4 is not perfectly balanced but still worked well for me (although the 360 control pad took a while to get used to).

Hang on. I just realized that his is an old thread from years ago... weird

Tasty bastard with the gay french guy? GOD that's hilarious! I really hope your Irish or British, that would make it even funnier. Some sort of accent's necessary. Fuck yeah sir, that just made my day!
:D I'm glad I made you laugh.

I'm sorry to say, I'm French but I live in Londno, and while I've never been an outspoken "France is great" patriotist I do gravitate towards the French characters in fighting games, so gay french man Leon in VF and Le queer Remy in Street Fighter 3.
There is always Abel in SFIV! He's decently manly.

SFIV's input buffer is pretty crazy, but it's manageable. It's really not too bad. Just input more cleanly.

If you want bad controls, play Big Bang Beat Revolve. That shit is unplayable.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is pretty balanced. I don't know what you guys are talking about when you mention "cheap". SFIV can feel scrubby at times, but it's pretty fair.

If you're talking about throws, throws have always been strong in Street Fighter. Anyway, you can easily option select to beat them in SFIV. Just crouch tech. It's as easy as cr.LP+LK.
