You are right we are taught what to wear by our gender the moment we are born think pink vs blue.Saelune said:Actually gender roles are the highest form of sexism.TU4AR said:Gender roles =/= sexism. Wonder why those ken dolls only have pants and no dresses and that women have to wear veils to hide their faces and men do not in other countries?
Where do you draw a line in clothing though it's all essentially just a different style of cloth nothing about it really screams cross dressing. This is clearly a case of clothism instead of sexism.funguy2121 said:"If anything, it makes me want to be more out there and more spontaneous and crazy," Saurs told KING 5.Dags90 said:http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/Boy-wears-dress-to-school-gets-suspended-1429489.phpfunguy2121 said:OP, it's MSN, so it should be taken with a grain of salt without a second source. It sounds like the kid's been pushing boundaries at the school for a while; he was tempting them to do this. It doesn't make it any more right for them to do so, but I fail to see how dressing in drag to come to school is really so important. Perhaps that's myopic of me, but I doubt you'd see Eddie Izard in stilettos and blush waiting in line at the bank.
So that's now four sources. These shouldn't be boundaries in the first place, except I guess the hat thing.
The kid was looking for attention, and he got it. He was looking to stir up trouble. I could care less if I see a guy walking down the street in a dress and I don't care if they allow it at school, but he's gotten into trouble for violating the dress code, he appeared in drag and was punished (it was reduced to 3 days' suspension) and then said that this makes him want to be more subversive. I'm guessing even if Moms hadn't complained about her feet hurting he still would have worn the dress to school.

I myself have bought a blue hat, because I thought it looked nice, and I bought 2 (the same) blouses to go with the hat. Now everyone tells me to change my clothes. because looking the same everyday is "weird". Well I won't stand for this! I can wear whatever I want, whenever I want! The same goes for the suspended kid! The time for being part of the same boring conformist group is over! EXPRESS YOURSELVES PEOPLE!
