This was in our kindergarten library.
It wasn't so much the stories as the pictures that went with them. One of them made me drop the book and run out of the room...I still don't think I'd be able to read any of the books.

That and Nightmare Before Christmas; I refused to take the tape out because I thought a hand would come out of the VCR.

Edit: Oh, and on the subject of Courage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS1Jg3RTgGM
Rofl, I own about 3 of those. Those scared me too.
Mainly it was Japanese horror movies and sea monsters.

The bugs from Starship Troopers and anything from the X-files... on hindsight I probably shouldn't have watched those but oh well I still hate giant bugs but can go through life without fearing getting abducted by aliens or el Chupacabra.

The aliens from "Mars Attacks" it was such a stupid movie but they scared me lol
Yup, I remember that freaking me out for month.

I can't believe how much of the stuff from this thread that I remember (even though half of it is from Courage The Cowardly Dog).

The Hush episode of Buffy,

"Can't even shout, can't even cry
The Gentlemen are coming by.
Looking in windows, knocking on doors,
They need to take seven and they might take yours.
Can't call to mom, can't say a word,
You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard."

And not to mention the gentlemen reminded me of clowns and I hate clowns, they're too damn happy.

Floor Masters from Windwaker. I had a mini-heart attack when one came out of nowhere in the Earth Temple.

Also, the TV Tropes Nightmare Fuel page is appropriate here, though I'm not linking to it because I'm a wimp.

Can you explain what's so amazing about Buffy. I've never seen it so I guess I don't understand.

These were the reason I never passed Ocarina of Time. I'm not sure what else scared me.

You wouldn't believe how much I hated my parents for renting the original Watership Down movie when I was 6. I swear, my eyes were closed almost the entire time and it was a movie about bunnies who couldn't count to 5.

The angel of death from the 10 commandments movie with Charleton Heston scared the crap out of me when I was 5. We had a bathroom with green wallpaper at the time, and I was too afraid to go in there for about 3 years...

That Box art. That's one reason why I never rented video games from a rental store.

Courage the Cowardly Dog.

"Return the slab, or suffer my curse."
That one spooked me as well. Another that scared me was that one where the old lady tried to make Courage "perfect"..

OT: I used to be afraid of the Kingdom Hearts bosses, but I finally nutted up, and kicked all their asses up to the Parasite Cage.

EDIT: Also, there was an old movie around 2000 or so that was based off of Little Red Riding Hood.. But it was really weird.. It scared me, yet it also fueled my fascination with lycanthropes.. Really fucking odd.

EDIT EDIT: Now I know what the movie was. It was called "The Company of Wolves".

I had a copy of Resident Evil 1 in my closet as a kid and I was afraid of the zombie on the back. I always thought it would come alive at night and eat me.
