No. I just read 'Revan' (the novel) and am thoroughly pissed of by what Bioware have done with the characters of Revan and the Exile.

They both get killed off in a very cheap way.

I wouldn't even mind if it was a decent send-off for the Kotor characters but, other than Revan and the Exile, hardly any appear. It seemed mainly to just be a prologue for the MMO.

ToR feels like it suffers from the WoW problem of being another hotkey based MMO that looks like it has even worse combat flow issues (that look and feel that your character is standing around waiting for his attack to come off cooldown)

Everywhere ive read about ToR says the story is really strong which is nice but in an MMO its about the longevity of the gameplay because story gets old after the first or second play through.

Personally I have had my fill of WoW and I stopped playing because of the massive grind at the end game and until the end game of ToR is shown then I will not invest time and money into a game to pay an over priced single player story line. (over priced if im paying for the inital game and monthly fee to level from 1 to max to hit the same grind-a-thon that WoW was and stop playing).

PvP looked like crap and I have the sinking suspicion that PvE group content is going to be bland.

I'm really enjoying the beta, but if I didn't have a group of people to play with, I probably wouldn't bother.

When you don't have a decent guild, or any friends who play, there's not really any point, and it gets boring after a while. That's why I stopped playing WoW.

But now I have a bunch of good friends who are gonna be playing with me, and an awesome guild (The Spoony Expendables), so I'm definitely gonna buy it!

Wherever there is injustice, you will find us. Wherever there is suffering, we'll be there. Wherever liberty is threatened, you will bravely wade into blaster fire so that I may punch tyranny in the dick! For you are...expendable! I'm not gonna lie. Most of you are going to be cut into cauterized quivering flesh cubes due to my complete lack of leadership. But damn it, we'll be on the side of righteousness. (And if you join me, the Republic offers comprehensive medical and dental.) Gentlemen, ladies...does the term Forlorn Hope mean anything to you? It means a free gift card to the Outback if you live!

To summarize, I guess you could say I'm excited.

Though I'm a TOR supporter, I need to be fair by stating that the Revan book published does *not* provide any closure as to what happens to Revan and the Exile.

MAJOR SPOILERS as to why this is true:

The book sets up the two characters in such a way that they will appear in TOR, along with HK-47. Basically, the Exile turns into a Force Ghost and Revan gets put in stasis by the Emperor so that he can feed off the Jedi's life force (or something). They appear in flashpoints in TOR. Oh, and Bastila Shan and Revan's descendent, Satele, shows up in TOR.

Despite Bioware's general awesomeness regarding story, this is one of their stupidest moves yet. Imo they should have stayed away from relying on Revan and focused on delivering an original story with brand new characters.
Ah, thank you for the clarification! I haven't actually read the book and had only known by its hype as of yet. Yeah, I think it would have been nice if they finally managed to move away from Revan's storyline, but I'm still interested in how it'll develop in TOR. Hopefully the story there will make up for this slightly lackluster way of throwing him into it as well. I have a feeling this was done much more as an attempt to try and appeal to those who liked the original KotOR games and are interested in Revan.

In any case, the game and its stories are good, from what I've played this weekend. If I had more time and opportunity to play it, I'd probably buy it despite no longer all that interested in MMOs.

No, I don't have the time or money to play MMORPGs. But if I had, I would so buy it.

Doubtful. Never been that intrested to begin with, and after watching some gameplay videos I thought it looked pretty dull.
Besides, I need to start playing games less. Can't afford to get sucked up in another MMO!

I really would never play an mmo that requires a monthly subscription. They have worse graphics, worse combat, and usually a worse story than pretty much any other kind of game.
Then they make you pay more money for it.
This is the same reason I don't play COD. It's an mmo with a yearly $100 subscription fee.

The only class I enjoyed enough to play for more than a day was the Sith inquisitor. When I went to load up the game for this weekends test I found I had to download an 11GB patch for some reason. If each patch is going to be that big I don't have the space on my computer or time to play. Going to pass on this one.

I played the Beta, and it felt like WoW 2.0. Sadly unless you REALLY love the StarWars universe I would not bother getting it. So if all you want is a MMO just stick with WoW. Unless you are really sick of WoW then SW:ToR also might be for you.

If I do, it will be for the story alone. I wish MMOs and MMPORGs could stay behind in the last decade, for me at least they've hit a wall.

I'm with those who say no because of the monthly subscription fee.

I'd feel compelled to rush my way through the story so that I don't end up paying hundreds of dollars for the game. If I can't enjoy the game at my own pace without getting wallet-raped, then I say no. It could be the greatest game ever, and I'd still avoid it.

I don't play MMORPGs

The way I see it the money and time investments for MMORPGs is so all consuming (with my budget and time constraints) I have to choose between playing one MMORPG per year and expansions, and playing SCORES of new, different and interesting games.

It's easily £120 per year for subscription and the obligatory annual expansion, with steam Sales I can get about 10 games per year with that. TEN games! Different games! No MMORPG can match the unique variety and enjoyment of the top-10 PC games of the past year. Not without a lot of repetition and pedantic variance, not REAL variety!

And all the mods you have for the PC games you have bought, adds a further layer of variety to everything.

And fundamentally, the mechanics of MMORPG that trade your time rather than your skill, grinding. I can't abide by that and SWTOR seems to be doing the same thing.

When it was first announced i was all over it thinking it would be great and something i might actualy subscribe to. Then when i saw gameplay.... The game was dead to me, Still got in the beta to give it one more chance but that just confirmed that i was never gonna touch it again. Well back to waiting for GW2 it is.
