Starbound is shaping up to be way more advanced than Terraria anyways. I would get Starbound over Terraria if I didn't have either game and could only choose one of them.

I'm a PC gamer and I don't care about Terriaraiariaiaiararaia. It's been out for a year on PC and I couldn't even be bothered to buy it on Steam during the last Summer Sale. I think it hit $2.50, and I still couldn't be bothered getting it...

Well, I'm glad that PC elitists are propping up a game that isn't a first person shooter for once.

I believe that PC gamers deserve some nice exclusives. And this was one of them. Contrary to the belief of many PC elitists, PCs don't typically have better exclusives than consoles at all, and the PC discipline is not better than the console one. If anything Nintendo reigned in quality where the PC has been chaotic in terms of quality. And definitely Terraria was, or should have been, for PC gamers, a pride and joy exclusive.

And it is kind of a loss to PC gamers that they can't say "Hey, you shouldn't try out PC gaming. There's amazing games like Terraria you're missing out on. You don't need to worry much about PC hardware at all. Unless your computer is from the stone ages it should play fine."

I do certainly agree that's a massive overreaction and making people look bad. Is it bad that I'm actually a little happy they're giving PC gamers a bad name, though?

I mostly just want the new Terraria content and updates in my PC version. There's no way I'm buying Terraria for console.

Amen.

I am so looking forward to Starbound. It's going to be nothing short of breathtaking.

It was indeed released in an unfinished state.
The game had(and still has) a number of bugs. (Another reason the PC customers are a little miffed, there was one final bug patch announced after game development ceased, which still hasn't been released. It's similar to Bethesda announcing/releasing Hearthfire when Dawnguard hasn't even been given an ETA for the PS3 crowd.)
It got released because it leaked before it was ready, so the developer sort of panicked and released it before it's time.

I do agree it's oversimplying the issue. I'm a bit miffed at the whole thing myself.

To be fair, look at how Final Fantasy VII fans reacted to Square re-releasing the PC version of the game, updated for Windows 7 and much better than the original(something I wanted for YEARS). They flamed the heck out of Square because it wasn't the Final Fantasy VII remake they were clamoring for.

In a strange way it's kind of refreshing that we're at a point where one can just copypaste an incredibly lazy flamebait article from another site and skip straight to calling each other names. No more wasting time pretending to have valid points.

This really is bad news for all Indie developers. PC is where Indie developers begin and thrive. If Indie developers keep burning bridges like this, good luck getting the PC community to keep supporting new start ups.

Sure hope Re-Logic makes a massive killing off this console port because they are done on the PC platform.

PC users get pissed when they don't get exclusives and when their exclusives get ported to consoles. There is simply no pleasing them.

None of that ever made it into the game. They promised loads, gave up and are now taking a lazy route for more cash.
Let's look at the wiki page: http://wiki.terrariaonline.com/Upcoming_features

Hmm. A lot of stuff, but what's that very first line? "This page is about features that have been announced by official game developers. Please remember that none of this is guaranteed to be included in the game."

Huh. Looks like they were not promised actually. Seems these "promises" were more actually possibilities to attempt to implement.

And truth be told, if this is how a gaming community reacts to something, I(if I were a developer) would go to a new market as well. Why bother with a community that spews hate and vitriol?

*sigh*

1. Primarily PC gamer.
2. Own Terraria.
3. Don't really give a rat's squeaky gray buttocks that Terraria is coming to the console.

'Kthxbye.

so... whenever a console delevepor makes a port for pc or brings a game to pc it's amazing and we should all be happy and not complain, but when they do it the other way round it's fucking satanic, this is why i hate some pc gamers

Remember that time, not so long ago, when we used to buy games as one complete package.... And that was it... no extra levels, no extra bolted on content, nobody getting annoyed if a game was released on other platforms... I miss those days!

Seems people nowadays have too much... and as soon as that too much is reduced, then they get butthurt and angry!
Who said the extra content won't be released for PC? Who said the extra content is anything worth it at all... it could just be a new menu to fit the consoles! Who said that after this port that they will never release another update again?

PC gamers should still get updates... it says it on the description on Steam that they will still get them... and for a 6 pound game... that aint bad! Ain't bad at all!

People nowadays expect so much, for so little! Free upgrades to a game doesn't profit a company. Yes, the promise of more free content in the future can attract a larger consumer base, but the extra work doesn't profit them... and they are a company... and companies are full of people who are ambitious and want to make livings! Maximising profit is expected... and who can say that the money from console releases isn't to go towards exciting new products and upgrades? That's what business' money usually does... expands it's horizons...
