Sorry my realism trumps your exaggeration. Look at every game within the past twenty years and tell me how many of those games came with everything the developers said it would contain. A couple examples I know off the top of my head at the moment? Bioshock 2 promised you would have only one Big Sister that would be constant through the game. Mass Effect 3 promised that the ending would not be your standard 'pick your ending'. Heck, WoW promised a lot of stuff, like the dance studio to change your racial dance, and that never made it into the game.Matthew94 said:Wow, you guys are running desperate. You're using a fan wiki over the developers own words to try and win now? Great.
But hey, look at my link. The one made my the actual devs.
"In the long term, we will not just be adding content, but new mechanics as well"
"there is still a lot more that we want to do with it"
They didn't do shit and they did promise more content. Of course people are going to be mad if they paid money, got lied to and now the devs are trying to make more cash while still refusing to finish their work.
I'm grasping at straws? You're saying Red's a money grubbing liar. I'm saying that it's a one man creator for a game that got very big in a small amount of time. Game development is game development. Triple A or Indie, there are things that cannot and are not able to be implemented due to a variety of factors.Matthew94 said:Red was the only one who worked on the game, the others leaving meant nothing.
Comparing the game to triple A games? It's not realism that your speaking, it's bullshit. Bioshock wasn't released in beta and promised to have many updates with a rough roadmap set out.
The difference is that with BS, you got what you got. Sure they promised shit but if you watched gameplay videos pre launch or hell, read a review. One of BS's selling points wasn't that it would be updated over time.
Finally relogic didn't have a publisher breathing down their necks.
You are grasping at straws. You want reality? How about this? They got their money, they didn't give a shit about their promises once the game peaked and they made off like bandits.
First off, the game ranges from $5-$10 depending on Steam. So Steam automatically gets a cut of the profits. Depending on how Microsoft/Sony will act in regards to the amount they take, the amount of money you say Red will make is no where near as high as you think.Matthew94 said:He is a a money grubbing liar though.
Makes promises, starts to follow through.
Fires his community leader, blue (more cash for red)
promises even more and for a longer timespan
abandons the game
comes back, leaves game abandoned and ports it for a cash grab
So yes, he is a money grubbing liar. I have no doubt about that. I never said they were golden gods of purity or anything but if you're going to promise shit, follow through. They had the funds and the manpower, the could have easily did it.
Now, if Red started working on the PC version again then I wouldn't be annoyed but it's the fact that he is just doing such a blatant cash grab that annoys me.
And if it SOMEHOW was too hard to do then hire some new staff! They have 1.6 million sales of Terraria and the console version is guaranteed to bring in a few hundred thousand, they could easily hire another dev.
They announced the LAST update a very long time ago. Anyone expecting another wasn't paying attention I guess.Nouw said:Thanks OP, I needed my daily fix of facebook comment-section idiocy. While I do feel that some of the anger is justified, I'd be pissed too if someone released a port of a game I was expecting an update for, this is way too far.
I hope you don't mind me asking this, though I already have a general assumption of the reply I'm going to get based on the posts shown in this thread:Matthew94 said:Freaking large amounts of snippity
