Definitely "Rockhound" in InFamous would have to be the most annoying damn trophy I've ever seen. You have to find 350 "Blast Shards" throughout the entire GIGANTIC sand box world. It's basically three times worse than the "In Memory of Petruccio" (collect 100 feathers) achievement. At least in AC2 you have really focused points of where they can be located. In InFamous they can be anywhere, and there are so many of them, at crazy varying heights/depths in the world.

I think collectible achievements are the most poorly designed thing in the world, and "Rock Hound" epitomizes everything I hate about them. It's one thing to say "Collect X% of the collectibles" like in Bad Company 2, where you can miss some and it won't be a big deal. It's another to have ones that you have to cower the entire planet for, or replay an entire level for like the ones in Uncharted and Modern Warfare.

Collectible trophies/achievements need to become extinct.

Earth defense force 2010, got the easy achievement, started playing normal and recognized its blistering difficulty and I dont even wanna try the other difficulties...they all so don't stack...so I have to go through the game 3 more times...
That and some of the Ikagura stuff are the hardest achievements.

Not sure if this counts, as the PS2 didn't have the same sort of standardized "Achievements" as current-gen consoles, but:

The Item Completion "event" in the first .hack series.
- Earned by acquiring at least one of every acquireable item.
- Items you collect don't start counting until after you have finished the four-disc-long main storyline. Hope you saved your Level 1 pointed stick and threadbare tunic.
- Due to the rarity of some items, you may spend more time grinding low-level areas with a max-level character than you already spent actually playing the game itself.
- Most. Anticlimactic. Reward. Ever.

IMHO, a tragic time-sink of a blight upon an otherwise involving and underappreciated series/franchise.

MGS4, ingame achievment i believe, makes u go through teh game without being detected or killing a single enemy(when possible, but it might aswell not be) and if u do get caught u cant just reload ur game. u have to quit game or turn off the system and then load the game making it that more tedius. If u ever got this, u are a god of invisisbility and invisible to the opposite sex aswell.
There were achievements on MGS4? What where do I get them?
Not an achievement, but that's how you get the Big Boss camo, IIRC.

Again, I have the patience nor the time to complete this.

Oh THATS how you get?! Whats wrong with Hideo?!
Lots of things.

I generally dislike online achievements in general,
because most of them rely so heavily on luck.

We all have trophy/achievement hunted at one point, whether it be for bragging rights or a false sense of completion, and soon enough you will come across THAT FUCKING trophy/achievement. You know what I mean that one that is either so vague or impossible you wanna kill the programmer for being so stupid. So, what do you guys think is hardest trophy/achievement you have gotten or are working on, for me it is "There is no I in squad" on the first Bad Company on PS3. For the love of god can anybody offer any advice on this thing? Me and a friend just spent about 20 minutes committing suicide and spawning on each other well over 20 times. Yes this forum was made soley for the purpose of me bettering myself.
I got that one. Just camping in a building behind the enemy base, so when my teammates died they spawned right back on me.

The freaking Rock Hound trophy in Infamous. I just don't have the will to search for all those damn shards.

Sorry for the double post, by the way.

Seriously on Gears of War.

Heh. Not in this lifetime, Epic.
I actually have the Seriously 2.0 achievement, and it only took two days (found a nice little spot in the campaign to get the 100,000 kills), which is actually faster than other games achievements that I've gone after, like those damned Halo achievements.

I gave up on those. Especially those 0-points-but-stupidly-hard-to-get ones.

I despise GoW's achievments.
They're so fucking annoying especially the multiplayer ones!
Made even more infuriating for Aussie when Cliffy B pretty much told Aussie "Tough Shit, We aren't going to fix your shitty internet, Play with lag or not at all"

I dont own an Xbox but is that where you reach Level 100 on multiplayer?
Kill 10, 000 Locusts, In Gears Of War 2 it was 100, 000.
Well, in GoW 1 it was 10k multiplayer kills, whereas in GoW 2, it was 100k kills in campaign, horde, AND multiplayer.
...
but it is still a pain >_>

Ever try finding almost 400 blast shards in Imfamous? In a system in which the only way to FIND such things is to run around a huge sandbox and push the analog stick in so much your get wankers cramp in your thumb

That is the ONLY thing standing between me and my first platinum trophy...

I can't think of one of those "Achievements for Achievements' Sake" achievements, so I'll just say my current goal: Getting all of the feathers in ACII. Vhat Fack? Why are they so important?

EDIT: Actually, Out of the Blue in Portal: Still Alive. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Oh GOD I almost had an aneurysm trying the Out of the Blue one, I'd always press the wrong one and then you have to start all over again. NOT FUN.

I quite enjoyed attempting the feathers one in AC2 :D I didn't get 'em all haha, but it was a good excuse to climb around killing archers.

I make it a rule to never go for multiplayer achievements, because you can't do anything without getting killed by a stranger seconds before you succeed. Red Dead Redemption, I'm looking at you.

Ughh... don't remind me.

"I have this map," I said, "I'll cross each one off when I come to it," I said.

I missed one. No way in hell am I going to do that again.

The get all 100 feathers in Assassin's Creed 2. No, I do not have the spare time to hunt down 100 feathers in Italy. Especially since most of them are in Venice or Florence.

You really want me to complete most of the game 4 times? Really?

Fuck You.
It's not so hard when you import a character. I think.

You don't have to do the sidequets to level anyway.

Let's get something straight.

GoW = God of War
Gears = Gears of War

It'll save your life talking to someone who participates in the console wars.

In Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, there are two achievements, called Wax On and Wax Off.

Wax On, you had to go into Pacifism, where you can't shoot and have to pass through gates to make them explode and kill nearby enemies, and rub against every bit of the arena wall. Not hard at all, since the round starts off so slow, you sometimes can go all the way around without even leaving the wall.

Wax Off, however, is a different story. You have to do the requirements for Wax On in Pacifism... twice in the same round. And you realize, it picks up the pace fast. Completely nucking futs.

Oh, and also Double Trouble on DJ Hero. You have to have a local multiplayer game with two turntables. Tell me, people, do you know more than one person that has the game and peripheral?
