My most-frequented retailer, Play-Asia (cause I like my games in English, thank you very much), has been hit-and-miss for me. At times they've been really fast and convenient. Probably the plurality of the time, they'll be pretty slow, but the game will eventually get to me. They've made mistakes on my last two orders, though. On the first one they gave me the wrong game, but I e-mailed customer service and sent the game back, and then got the right one. But like the OP, I never got my last order from them, even though they took my money and the game was listed as shipped. I asked them WTF? and they said all they could do was give me store credit instead of a refund, so for some inexplicable reason, I used it on my pre-order of Arkham City. I hope to God it gets to me.

Never ever had this happen to me. Here's my advice: You have your receipt, yes? Take it and yourself into the gamestop you preordered it from. and DEMAND to see the manager. Do not willingly leave without your preorder or your money. If you are escorted out, go find a lawyer to speak with gamestop on your behalf.

The equivelant to Gamestop in the UK is GAME.

After they got my copy of Deus Ex: HR to me 4 days late, I decided to take my business somewhere else.
Gamestation is where it's at order online and you get it at least one day early, play it first guarantee, although Game and Gamestation are owned by the same company.
I don't go to either I'm a HMV man the best trade in prices ever.

OT: Gamestop sounds really shitty.
I go to...

This place [http://www.shopto.net/]

Independant retailer of the year 2011, the games are cheaper and the delivery is top-notch (my friend got Deus Ex: HR, 2 days before release).

Edit: Shit, that really sounds like advertising, trust me, that's not my intention.
Holy crap is that site for real?! I just paid twice that for the Skyward Sword bundled with a wiimote. Now I really hate the fact that I live in Norway...

I live in NZ and so my buying games is a tad easier I guess. Although they're really over-priced. You think $60 for a game is bad? Try $100 for every new console game!

Fortunately, online shopping makes it cheaper. I don't think I'll ever buy a game in a shop ever again. Having said that, I still like having a physical copy.

To the Brits here: GAME isn't just in the UK. We have these fkers down here in France, too. And sometimes, their stores might get the game late, but they'll deliver your copy to you even later, and no, you can't just show up in a store with your ticket and ask for your copy if they already have it in store.

In Australia we have EB Games, but I've never had a problem with them. Apart from their ridiculous prices (twice what you Yanks pay, despite our dollar being worth more than yours).

Okay, it is official. I am done with Gamestop. They have screwed me over for the last friggin' time. I ordered the Gears of War 3 epic edition and retro lancer months ago when they said they still have them. They took my order. They took my money.

Couple of days ago,I got an email from them saying that they can no longer process my order and dropped it. No, I didn't get a refund either and they are not responding to me when trying to contact them.

This is the 5th time they screwed me over in a row. People have tried telling me Gamestop is honest and stuff, but from my perspective they treated me like crap. I can't even tell you all the stories I had with this company and I am getting problems every time I go to this place.

I tried giving them chances, but I am tired of it. I am ordering from Amazon from now on. I don't care if I have to wait a few more days for my stuff to ship
If they aren't responding and you still have the receipt then you can sue them. if they still reuse to respond you automatically win and if they STILL don't respond you can hit them with a sheriff's levy which will keep them from doing bussiness until they pay you back.but it would cost you more to do this than it would to just buy another so enjoy I guess. of course the people at my gamestop are pretty awesome. they let me in the store 30 mins before it opened to pick up a copy of disgaea 4 Special edition.

Clearly you have an internet connection, so there is more or less no reason to ever deal with a GameStop ever.

Every time I see a GameStop horror story or some new bullshit about them pulling coupons or what have you, I always have to take a minute thinking "wait, there's still such a thing as GameStop and people still buy things there?".

Eh, the only complaints I ever hear about Gamestop is online - and I don't believe the interweb about nothing. I know no one in real life who has ever been burned by them. Not saying it doesn't happen, but the internet is a great place to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Wait, really? I've never had a problem with GAME. They have free 2 day delivery and it's always on time and pre-orders always come 1 or 2 days early. GAME are my go to company.

OT: I hear a lot of horror stories about Gamestop. I have no idea why you all use it if you get this shitty treatment from them.

My gamestop has been awesome to me, but i just discovered amazon. I'll probably use gamestop just for preorders now.

When it comes to boxed copies (mainly console games, as I buy just about all my PC games on steam these days) I tend to go with Amazon. They tend to be able to get the game to you the day it comes out if you preorder. I pre-ordered Starcraft 2 with the longest ship time, and I got the game the day it came out.

Never had a real problem with Gamestop/EB Games, might be because I personally know everyone that works there... And I've been an employee myself.. If anything, I see more bullshit from the customers.

Huh... I didn't even know people still bought things retail. I'd just buy things online if I were you, mate.

I worked at EB Games for 5 years, 2 of them as a Store Manager. There is a lot of dodgy stuff that I saw happen during my time there. I refuse to give them any more of my money.
