If anything, what I would plan to do is more akin to boosting or roster padding;
I'm pretty sure boosting is considered cheating.

If your not intending to go online with it what does it matter what anyone else thinks.

The moment you start hacking guys to play against other people you cross into a vastly different territory and what is accepted becomes alot different.

I'm confused. If you don't like the Pokémon of B&W, why not just buy Platinum again and re-acquire your Pokémon on that?

It's a shame you aren't giving the gen. 5 Pokemon a chance. Some of them are pretty cool in my opinion.
Awwwwwwwww yeah. [http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cW-EoKk7nTU/Tb9WCIq8IHI/AAAAAAAAADQ/wn3s1b30Av4/s1600/Emboar.png]

Broken B/W Pokemon? How about Garchomp for being overpowered (I'm not saying I dislike it since it one of my favourite).
As long you don't battle online than I say you ain't cheating, you pretty much manipulating the game the way you want it but not the way you suppose to play it.

Because that would still be the same position; there be no Cyndaquil in Platinum.

If thats the case, i cheat all the time. You're using a cheat device, but not in a way that makes it unfair, i mean if i did it to start the game with a Magickarp is that cheating? technically yes, but if someone said i was cheater if i won with that, id just lol.
But honestly thats half the fun of Pokemon for me, if you just stuck with "Get starter, get bird, get HM Whore, get decent members, fight gym leaders" over and over its boring, but if its "Get starter, get thing you're not supposed to get but its not too easy, get HM whore, get thing for a challenge" thats fun.

Summary- Getting level 100 Mewtwo= Cheating, Getting Charmander as a Honnen starter= no problem.

Well I understand that, yeah, but at least he wouldn't have to change the entire Pokédex :p

I'd Say It's not cheating buddy only on the case that your useing it to obtain what was lost and you don't wanna go through that BS again. Now if you take your "Boosted" (I guess that's the word) Pokemon online and compete yeah cheating might be what it's called.

On a Related topic you brought up -

I also have a dislike for the pokemon but only because the designs look so... shoddy and rushed (And more so the names).

And It upseted me; That the only 2 pokemon I wanted Zoura and Zoroark (The only 2 that are awesome in my opinon from this generation) could only be unlocked through damn EVENTS. I was lucky to get a few of the legendary dogs to get my Zoroark but what about those that missed the event or the celebi event. SO basicaly they put 2 pokemon in the game; who were locked in the game. I'm playing Black right now only to get my Zoroark and Im going to find a way to trade it to my Soul Silver or Heart Gold and im done with it.

As I said before, Zoroa and Zoroark are breedable. If you missed the event, then trade something with someone to breed a spare. Why is that so complicated?

That won't happen. Zoroark doesn't exist in Gen IV, so there is absolutely no way to trade it to SS/HG.

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Gen II, which is making me somewhat confused that people care about cheating at all. When I was a kid, if someone had a link cable and knew the duplication glitch, people would constantly dupe and trade pokemon. Nobody saw anything wrong with it -- it was essentially a single player game, especially when you consider how few people had link cables. Heck, I remember getting a Game Shark and hacking a Mew into my copy of either Red or Silver, can't remember which. Instead of people getting mad at me for cheating, I got constant requests to hack one in for other people -- even one guy who wanted me to trade him for it, which I would have done, if the game hadn't been set up to disallow hacked pokemon from being traded.

Has the spread of online gaming really stigmatized what Galoob used to call "Game Enhancement" to this extent?

If your pokemon's stats and moves don't deviate from their established, legally-possible norms, then using an AR is doing nothing but saving you time.

Seriously; the grind in Pokemon can rival WoW.

1st Comment - True but it shouldn't be like that in the first place. When these games first came out Those 2 were hyped and advertised out the Tail, I'd think they would be captures or Rare Finds In Game regardless of whatever Event or trade you make;

"Why is that so comlicated" you say? Well Why couldn't it have been more Simple? It's a Pokemon from that Gen, PUT IT on that Gen's game without the Event, Gamestop, Tradeing whatever, hog wash.

Mo? then who gives a damn. Your copy of the game, play it as you see fit.
Perfect IVs which are not realistically possible does not represent an unfair advantage?

Huh.

It's Pokemon. You really should be used to this by now. It's how the game works. The rarity of the Pokemon is what balances their generally overpowered abilities. In this case, it isn't even that rare. I'm reasonably sure that if you asked the Escapist community, you'd find someone willing to breed you one within a day. And that goes for most Pokemon that can be bred. That's the part that I can't follow. We have a pretty big community of Pokemon players here, so why is it that people would go to "I need to cheat to get the Pokemon I want" before asking if someone will just breed them one?

Maybe it's all apart of some Bigger pokemon plan to get more and more players to intermingle through Tradeing and such and there is hardly nothing at fault with that but rarity of pokemon implies that the pokemon can be caught at random without the aid of Events or Special Downloaded Pokemon... Just like in the Good Old Days of Red and Blue... Maybe Yellow were all you needed was different copies, a link cable (in my day) and not Search for someone who got this special pokemon to get this pokemon on this day to download.

However, just like tradeing; cheating is also a form of getting the pokemon that players desire. But the question is not is cheating arguably wrong or right; but what drove players to do so? Perhaps it was the Arbitrary steps for players to acquire the pokemon they want? Or maybe it was the choice to only make certain pokemon available by method of an unnecessary form of Pokemon/GameStop DLC?

But regardless of opinon, it is just a game and with all games, there is always a way to win and to get what you want.

Probably the same thing that drives people to rob banks. The feeling that they should be handed whatever it is they want, the rules and structure of the world they're inhabiting bedamned. Obviously, no, cheating for a Pokemon is not the same as robbing a bank, but the same sense of entitlement is there, even if just on a smaller scale. There are perfectly legitimate ways to get the Pokemon. If you don't want to go through those steps, that's your decision. But pretending that it is anything other than entitlement and impatience is lying to yourself and everyone else.

I never said anything about perfect IVs. They literally would just be whatever the game generated when I encountered them.
