This sorta stuff happens. I don't know why they go on like that, but I suppose it's just a bunch of teenage angst.

I don't ever make fun of religious gamers or of religion itself since I myself use to be a Catholic of several years. Why mock something that I once was?

I've got to agree, I hate XBL online; I pretty much never use it, and I'm cancelling my subscription come renewal time. I've always had better experiences on PSN and Steam, XBL just seems rife with ignorance, bigotory and chauvinism. Rarely have I played on XBL without being insulted or disgusted by the comments of others. At times I think I'd be less disgusted at a Ku Klux Klan meeting.

Trolls and assholes are everywhere fellas even on PSN they're just harder to find.

Personally, I'd just rather see games filled with talk about games.
Everything else is better left for more serious discussion in more serious moments. I'm not a fan of discussing the existential meaning of everything in the Universe (or anything else that deserves open-minded discussion) in between head shots. xD

If I was in this circumstance, my response would be something like "Meh." then I'd continue on with the game. xD

I just can't stand the "Organized Religion" part of the whole thing. To me, Religion (not faith) is a huge scam to get people to pay a tax free service that does nothing but give you their idea of what the bible means. Hell, the stuff in the bible may just be a really old story that we're all taking too seriously. Why should people have to pay for that service and why the hell is it even a service in the first place?

Boy, I think I got off topic there for a sec. I know an Atheist and he's okay and doesn't get in people's face about how god doesn't exist. In fact, I have yet to meet anyone who is in your face about it to the point of being Anti-Religion, so I can't say I know exactly what you're talking about. Sorry.

You're talking about Christianity... What about people who are part of a non-Judeo-Christian religion like me? I'm Buddhist.



On topic: I've been lucky and no run into people online like that. Then again, I don't play FPS games, save the occasional Duke Nukem 3D...

Organized Religion is not as you see it. You're blinding yourself with myths of those who don't experience and claim it as it is. Its the same thing as religious people making things up about atheism to make it look bad.

I'm a devout Roman Catholic, but I have absolutely nothing against atheists/agnostics. To each his own. My only problem is with the loons that think that religion is the root of all evil and will destroy us all (even though we've had it for about, oh, thousands upon thousands of years) and want to see it completely banned. Hell, I've even seen some call for the persecution of the religious (I assume most of them are trolling, though), which just strikes me as ironic in a sad way.

Religion in itself is not evil. I think the moral teachings of Jesus Christ ("Do good to those who hate you", "Love thy neighbor as thyself", etc.) are something that every decent human being can agree on, even if they disagree about Christ's divinity.

No, it's not religion, it's when people use religion to get what they want. It's people who use religion to gain power and wealth that are the problem, not religion itself.

Anyhoo, anti-religious nut jobs are probably in it for the same reason every troll is. I don't know their motives, nor do I care about their motives, and anytime I run into one on Steam or whatever, the mute button is my BFF.

I hate that the whole community of xbox LIVE (AKA the pinnacle of dumbassery) Always is about ten percent of a new kind of snot-nosed nerd using the internet as their iron sheild. I'd like to bring up the subject of the Anti-religion gamer. Now note how I didn't say athiest, because i don't hate them, it's the ones who fish in the verbal lakes of LIVE for ways to talk down to anyone who has a religion.

EXAMPLE:

Gamer 1: "Oh my God! These guys are really good!"

Anti-religion gamer: "theres no such thing as God you idiot."

Now I'm not sure why they do this unprevoked, but it also happens on the forums. Do they do it because they are self-conscious? Or maybe just to troll?

Oh, and Atheists aren't all anti-religion. Buddhists are atheists and they aren't anti-religion, for example.

Buddhists are not aesthetics either, as Buddha made reference and accounted to the ancient gods and ancestors of his culture. He also sat under a tree for 20 years and got people to cater to his every whim.
Religion for the most part can be spiritual, propaganda, simply a good way to do something productive and good, or a way to dump on other people for whatever it is you hate. You take from religion what you want. But don't go around shaking your fist at the sky and demanding some giant magic spirit prove his or her or it's existance to you, because really...what makes you so important?

Thank you. It's these exact reasons why I'm happy with my faith. I just hate when people feel so threatened by someone else's honest beliefs that they need to belittle them over such a grey area like personal faith.

Honestly, there's enough hate and misunderstanding in the world without us adding to it.

It's not only gamers, and it's not only on the internet. Sadly enough, it's not trolling either.

It's just people feeling the need to act all high and mighty, and being dicks about it. I knew people who would go "OMG LAAWL GOD IS NOT REAL U R DUMB!", in high school, in real life, when someone would make a reference to him/her/it.

I don't like religions, I'm an atheist, but I won't spend a moment trying to "convert" people, and I'm not going to take the initiative when it comes to religious arguments, or just plain getting on other peoples' tits.
