OOC- NimbleJack3 I meant for when ships were boarded, eg. In an attempt to hijack them.
Trying to get two ships to do that while moving at the speed they do, is like trying to have two ducks reluctantly mating while flying - it's messy. It's far easier to send an EVA team or disable the enemy ship before trying to hijack it.

OOC- Yep, like you said, messy. They're there for a final resort, and for shootouts on planets where ships have landed.

But this is a pile-of-shit antiquated freighter. It's the future equivalent of buying one of those vans with the curtains for the rear window. It's hardly going to have specialized armaments for dogfighting in an atmosphere.

OOC-OK then, you win. Disregard my post about bullet firing guns.
I'm sorry if I seem pedantic - I just like my space opera to have some thought and fluff behind it.

Who doesn't?

"Can we get down to bussiness already?"

Having seen the lights and other signs that the ship might actually be moving soon walked back to his room. He dug through his pile of stuff until he found his deck of cards. Then he went to the common room to relax. Before he sat down he took off his coat, clearly showing his two pistols and knives.

"So who is in?" he asked no one in particular as he delt cards to all the chairs.

As Mila perused around the holo projector, she was also rebooting portions of the ships computer functions. Life support, engineering and weapons were back at one hundred percent. However, she was encountering problems re-initiating flight and navigational controls and computer functions. The lights briefly flicked off and the holo projector shut down. Power then quickly came back on and the projector was showing its images again

Taping the intercom on, Mila spoke into it "Hey Merutio, are you trying to initiate the navigation mainframe, because I'm reading that it's only functioning at twelve percent right now"

Having evetually set up the EMR tunnels, Shanks walked around the ship, exploring. He eventually found the common room, and saw someone dealing cards.
'I'm in. But I warn you, I get mighty competetive over a game of cards. Oh, I forgot to ask. Who are you?'

Vince looked at the new comer who was entering his game, "Name's Vince aren't you the drunk guy who was shooting up the place?" Before the newcomer had a chance to get a word out Vince continued, "Either way I suppose knowing you name could help, by the way as I am short of money until this job is over we are playing for sins, just like back home."

"How do you mean, playing for sins?" Said Agustin, akwardly trying to casually lean on the bar, while trying to call the robot's attention with his fingers.

"We are all on a merc crew; you must have done something wrong in your past." Vince rolled his shoulders, "I shall start the bet with the murder of an unknown man, I killed him on a job, just an unlucky sod that was in the wrong place at the wrong time."

If I win the hand then there is a sin I do not have to account for at the end, should there be a higher power. You make a bet on the simple standard of crimes, murder, theft, assault, and so on. If you look closely each of the chips on the table has a crime type written on it. The winner has one sin of equivalent value removed from their soul and thus that bet and particular sin cannot be used again, you can however bet another similar sin, it just can't be the exact same sin. Not only is it a good way to pass the time and to heal ones soul, but you get to know people as well."

Vince looked at the other player to see how confused they looked, "I know this is an odd concept if you have not grown up on my world, but when one must steal and kill to survive the sins pile up."

"Ha!" Joke laughed at the mercs sitting around the table. "Sins? Who cares what blotches we have on our soul, I sure don't, but then again I have only only real sin. Letting my wife die in my arms, that's about it for me, nothing fancier or heavier than that."

"One that comes to mind was the brutal beating I once gave a frontier-world policeman to get his horse. I'm sure his bones are still hot on the desert...not my worst, but it fits, no?"

Vince smiled, "See we are already learning a lot about each other". Vince leaned back, "I always like to know what dirt my allies have in their closets".

Merutio turned around at the sound of the ship's external loudspeakers blaring out a woman's voice, the noise echoing around the metal walls. "Hey Merutio, are you trying to initiate the navigation mainframe? Because I'm reading that it's only functioning at twelve percent right now."
Turning and walking to the port-side airlock comms, he keyed the cockpit. "I've just tried to hard-interface with the nav system's primary controller, but it drained all the power out of what's left of the batteries. Could you acess the primary cabling for navigation and see how many pins the I/O sockets have?"

'I'm shanks' Shanks said to Vince. 'An' the only crime I e'er commited was a murder to save my own life. I was attacked in jail, and naturally, I had t' fight back. I'm awfully sorry for being a bit... Out of order back there. I only just got out o' ten years in the slammer. For a god damn crime I didn't commit...'

"Kind of the point of the slammer, really. To get fucked up bad enough to never do it again."

Agustin looked at the hole in the wall.

"Guess it doesn't work, eh?"

"Booze probably didn't help anything," Joke added in. "Stop drinkin' though and it lets reality rush back in."

Vince looked at Shanks, "In prison for a crime you didn't do huh?" Vince looked at the others in the room, "Maybe we should help him commit the crime so his time was not wasted?"
