the Power to change the world for the better,
the Courage to make that change happen,
the Wisdom to know when to stop.

Cookie for the reference. :D

Humour. Not only does it help in social interaction, it also makes it easier to deal with difficult periods in your life.

Wisdom: The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting.
Compassion: Sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it.

Both are linked to one another and a necessity in my eyes.

Apathy. If people didn't take themselves and everything else so seriously there wouldn't be such dramas in the world.

Edit: Collectively, I would say the ideal quality for everyone to have would be compassion or something, but the most sensible trait an individual can have in today's society is definitely apathy.

Wisdom.

If we were all wise we would have no problems.
However, different philosophies tend to result in different "wisdoms" and "truths." Also, different philosophies tend to clash. A lot.

I would say kindness, as it doesn't have to cost much (if anything) and it has such a positive effect on the world.

"Wisdom is not just knowing fundamental truths, if these are unconnected with the guidance of life or with a perspective on its meaning. If the deep truths physicists describe about the origin and functioning of the universe have little practical import and do not change our picture of the meaning of the universe and our place within it, then knowing them would not count as wisdom." - Robert Nozick

"The increase in wisdom can be measured precisely by the decrease in bile." - Nietzsche

This is what i meant when i said wisdom. Whatever your philosophies, whatever your truths, if you truly have wisdom the fact that two people with two very different views on life and what is true clash wouldn't be a problem.

You would have the clarity and the foresight to come to understand them. Every philosopher may not be wise, but every wise man is a philosopher.

Loyalty. From subordinate to superior...and from general to his soldiers. From a woman to her husband and a man to his wife. From a citizen to his country, a mortal to his gods, loyalty breeds trust and social cohesion and keeps things from degenerating into the sort of anarchy normally seen from trolls on the Internet.

I will value someone's loyalty more highly than any of their other virtues.

Empathy, because I think if we all cared to try to understand each other, we might prevent so much conflict and irrelevant hate.

Think about. How much better would the world be if everyone just admitted their short comings.

I believe humility is the most important. It breeds kindness, empathy, and peace in a person.

Sooo I guess this leaves me with: Having faith that everything will turn out to be good in the end. I mean if you don't have faith in the things you do you can't progress successfully.

I think of the qualities I'd say, honesty is the only one that hasn't been mentioned (or I've missed a post). I agree with everyone who said humour as well, to me it's just as important as honesty.

Fiction, Humility and kindness.

Never mind nonsense like reasoning. Because so few of us actually seem to do that. And if something goes against those few reasonable peoples ideals they too probably become unreasonable as well.

The one which suits the present environment. Currently, I suppose that would be intellect, because that is the quality we use to alter our environment.
