Gran Turismo PSP. I love GT more than anything, but a GT game without a career mode is something completely pointless. It's like a Zelda game with just an overworld and no dungeons.

At first I'd say Fable 2. I liked the first one, and was prepared to love the sequel. With every leak and teaser, I fell a bit more in love. Lionhead was going to overshadow Oblivion, I knew it! And even if they didn't, I was sure to have some amusement along the way!
God was I wrong. It was the first Fable, only watered down with more fart-jokes and "lolsex"
But my true biggest let down was Phantasy Star 0. A great game. A wonderful throw back to glory days of Phantasy Star Online. I played as a RAmar, a fucking cowboy. "This is amazing!"
But then I decided to start a new file, as the race/class I mained for years on BlueBurst. HUcaseal. The sexy fem-bot, far sexier than that RAcaseal trash.

"NO, I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS"
And I never played it again.

I've never played a game where the first "level" was so great yet the rest was so fucking horrible.

Kingdom Hearts 1. I played Kingdom Hearts 2 before I played KH1, and absolutely LOVED it. Heck, I STILL do. Still my favorite game of all time.
But, it seems that ALL the KH fans think that KH2 was absolutely terrible, and KH1 was infinitely better. Since I thought KH2 was the best game ever made, I took it as KH1 being a masterpiece crafted by God himself.
So, resolved, I bought KH1 for twelve bucks at Gamestop...and absolutely HATED it.
Really, the graphics were awful, the gameplay was dull, the combat was sluggish, and pre-pubescent Sora's voice sounded like my eardrums were being ripped out of their sockets by a pointed, cold steel claw coated in acid. And that's the nicest thing I could say.
Overall, KH1 taught me that 90% of Kingdom Hearts' fanbase are idiots with no taste. Not that I needed any proof of that, given the stuff you see on DeviantART...

I no longer get disappointed by games as I set the bar really low. They can only surprise me by how good they end up.
The last time i was really disappointed was Smackdown: Know Your Role... the first one on PS2. The game looked great and played well (I liked the first two on PlayStation) but the multiplayer season mode that I loved was stripped out and all that was left was a 3 match challenge for the title.
By the way... I am still waiting for that level of multiplayer season capability in a Smackdown game since.

Don't know if it's my greatest but lately the new Bionic Commando. I played the NES one so much as a kid and was psyched to see a new one in the works. What really bothered me was that it had good stuff in it. It wasn't a completely horrible game. It just had so much wasted potential.
EASY, halo 2, expecting LOTS of fighting on earth, had a pre-ordered copy for months, came out was like yeah, get to play like halo 1 only better gfx and on EARTH, really excited, to sum it up a quote from cortana "that, is another halo!" much sadness later and yeah greatest let down ever
Kanes wrath expansion pack.... for C&C 3 and C&C4 looks terrible... i mean the graphics are awsome but they are gonna remove base building for something more Warhamer 40k or Dota type of thing in wich you have a limited amount of units. I just hope red alert 4 is good.

MGS2 (and the games after that) were heartbreaking to me. I loved the first MGS, it's the game I got with my PSOne, but sadly Kojima was so pleased at hearing people say they liked the story in MGS that he went completely overboard with the next three games and filled them with not really too much story, but far too much storytelling. I tried the series again after hearing all the praise MGS4 got but quit after realizing that in the 3 and a half hours I had sat in front of the TV I had only actually played the game for roughly 20 minutes.Casual Shinji said:
Being a KH fanboy..... warning..... KH2 is based after the first, and Sora is older with a more mature voice. Also, the graphics in KH1 are worse because it came before KH2. (obviously). Of course the second is an improvement over the first, but the gameplay never became repetitive with the attachments and special moves that you can aquire in both games. Just a reminder, if you play a sequel before the original, the original will seem awful, i know from experience. (Oh, and i'd prepare a flame shield for more KH fanboys)Joey245 said:
Final Fantasy XII. The horrid battle system and whiny main character made the game unbearable for me. The fact that I was waiting for a new numbered Final Fantasy game since X and then had to see XII as the result was definitely the hugest let down of my life.
This I was soo looking foward to that game. But then they droped the mature and instersting syestem to market off as a kiddy toy.
