"Was that a compliment?" Bridget asked Jaden, completely confused by his wording.
He sounds like a robot. A cute robot...

 

[Amzer]

Wolfe looked at Jaden, and studied him.
"The poor bastard can't even use a crowbar to save his life." Henry whispered back...
"Leaving him out here would probably be the end of him...I honestly didn't want to go against your word, because he does deserve it...But I mean, he still looks scared..." Wolfe said, looking at Bridget now.
He looked back at Jaden.
"A danger to ourselves, and everyone around us? How?"

 

[Amzer]

[Mr Thin]

"More a statement of fact than a compliment, though you may take it as such if you wish." He made a note to himself; his manner of speech needed improvement.

Addressing Wolfe, he clarified his statement.

"Well, assuming my interpretation of the sounds I heard earlier is correct, you and the one called Dave were split between fighting this girl Bridget, fighting over her affections, fighting her off, and fighting the monsters that attacked you whilst you were fighting her. These monsters may be dangerous, but at least they don't fight amongst themselves."

Bridget blinked a couple times trying to figure out what Jaden was talking about.
"Ermmm-let's go back to the bunker" she spurted out trying to take the conversation to terms that made sense to her. She took Henry's hand and slipped her screwdriver in the back of her skirt again.

She then looked at Jaden and held out her hand for him to take it.

 

[Amzer]

"It was actually Dan losing his head, he had stabbed her, the fucking bastard...He's a competitive one...But acts as a petty child." Wolfe said, looking directly at Jaden.
"I'm assuming you heard our conversation on the roof above. Did that sound as hostile?" Wolfe whispered, blankly looking at Jaden, studying him, and making sure he wasn't another Dan.
Wolfe stayed with Bridget, even if she wasn't holding his hand, he would have stuck with her anyways.

 

[Mr Thin]

Jaden placed his hand in hers, though he was unsure why she had offered it. They already shook hands.

"I am unsure what your previous conversation was about; this is the first time I've talked to another human being in twelve years, and I am somewhat inexperienced in matters of social communication. Admittedly, it did not sound hostile."

He picked up his gear with his free hand. "Are we leaving then? I can't imagine it particularly wise to remain out here in the open."

Bridget blushed as Jaden took her hand.
His hand feels strange
She started walking with them towards the safe house and pulled them inside. She stood outside a second longer before slipping in herself.
"And now that we're safer..."Bridget started before stopping.
What was I saying?

 

[Mr Thin]

Jaden looked around at the room he was in. It was fairly secure, yet insufficient to withstand any serious assault. Fortunately, what he had seen of the monsters so far implied they were incapable of such tactics.

"Perhaps you should introduce me to Dan? If we are to inhabit the same building, it seems polite that he be aware of me and who I am."

 

[Amzer]

Wolfe walked through the door, and looked at Bridget when she walked through. "So...What should we do with him? I mean...He did watch us...I guess we can let him off the hook. He did say it's been 12 years since he spoke to another human being..."
Or...We can continue our conversation...And pretend none of this ever happened.

"Don't let him talk to Dan. Other than that, do whatever you want" Bridget said softly so Dan wouldn't wake up. She smiled at Jaden and yawned.
"Henry, can you take a sentry point again? I need some sleep"
Without waiting for an answer, she walked up and kissed him.Bridget then walked over to her bed where Dan was sleeping and took off her shirt and mini-skirt. She fixed her underwear and slid into the bed next to Dan.
"G'night everyone. And stay safe please" she said softly, looking at Henry and smiling before drifting off.

Jaden watched as Bridget lay down next to Dan and fell asleep. He turned to Wolfe.

"I was given to understand most women are not as flagrantly sexual as this. Was I mistaken? Or is she unusual? Also, if you wish to retire, I am in no way tired, and will keep watch."

 

[Amzer]

"...Yeah...I kind of doubt it WAS real..." Henry muttered to himself, before looking at Jaden. "You don't want to talk to Dan. Do so, and you probably will get the 3 of us killed." Wolfe then returned to the roof to watch the city below.
The kid's right. Next thing I know they'll be doing other things...As opposed to sleeping.

 

[Mr Thin]

Jaden assumed that was a no. These people did not at all conform to the books he had read. He wondered what else was inaccurate.

"Very well. I shall not speak with Dan unless spoken to." Seeing a cushion in the corner, he went over to it and sat down to rest.

 

[Amzer]

Wolfe, curious about the kid, went back downstairs. "Hell, if you think that's normal, you've lost your damn mind...I don't understand why she just flings herself openly to others...But what I said on the roof was truthful...Anyway, if you want to make yourself useful, you'll come up to the roof." With that, Wolfe walked back up to the roof.

 

[Mr Thin]

Jaden complied, following Wolfe up to the roof. It was quite a view from up here; he even thought he could see some lights in the distance. Campfires, perhaps? Probably nothing.

He sat down on a broken air-conditioning unit, and gazed out at the night sky.

 

[Amzer]

"So tell me...You seem to be the brainy time, having spent 12 years of your life away from other people...You must have read. Would you be obliged on helping me whenever we go out to find weapons?" Wolfe looked at Jaden.

 

[Mr Thin]

"Yes, I did indeed read. About everything, in fact. It was very disorientating to learn so much about the world, then come out of my bunker and find everything different."

Jaden considered the request. "Yes, I will help you find weapons. I am familiar with most forms of firearm, though I am not proficient in their use; for example, I know that yours is a M1903 Springfield, and that you use .30-06 caliber rifle rounds. But I have never operated and fired one before."

 

[Amzer]

"This is my precious. And I see you know it well. It's over 110 years old, and also has a custom oak stock. Anyways, do you know about electronics? Fuses? Things of that nature?" Wolfe said, taking a small fuse from his jean's pocket, which was plated, but made so it was still accessible.

 

[Mr Thin]

"I have some knowledge of such things, yes. Not enough to build a portable generator out of scrap, but enough, perhaps, to repair one."

Perhaps I should've brought some of the more practical books with me, Jaden thought. It was probably too late now.
