That kind of depends on how you define city, and if you assume that the blast affects the city I'm in as well. That also depends on how you define which city I'm technically in, because I live on the border between two densely populated urban areas.

Anyways, if Berkeley were nuked, a lot of people I know would die, and it would suck, but life would go on. If Oakland were nuked, I would have to change schools, a lot of people I know would die, and it would suck, but life would go on. This is all assuming that whichever city wasn't nuked was unharmed.

Nearest city is 40 miles away. Unless it gets hit by a Tsar Bomb, I'm safe.

And I notice most people overestimating the size of a nuclear blast. Check this:

http://www.carloslabs.com/projects/200712B/GroundZero.html
If this is right (NYC) I'll survive anything but the Tzar bomb...that is IF this takes into effect the radiation over the water and the winds to carry it all....if not I just might be boned. If not...YAAAAAAAAAAAA I'LL live....sort of. Bridges will probally go down and the ferry well be broken so...YAAA ill be stuck on this island...

If I were to survive? well...gonna have to start repopulating

I think I would be safe theres no way someone would waste a Thermonuclear device on the North West of England some of it already looks like it suffered through a Nuclear war.

I have a choice of Newcastle or Sydney being nuked.

Either way, the number of shits i give is hovering around the '0' mark.
Newcastle is 'meh' and Sydney is a shithole, and i have few relatives in either and friends in neither.

My local towns would become a sort of refugee camp, and things would be bad for a while.
And then there would likely be a massive war when Australia declares war on whatever country nuked us, and then the US and the rest of NATO would all all team up and help us out, and i would have a good time because i would be fast-tracked into the RAAF to fly a glorious F-35.

...So how do we make this happen?

City in which sense? Sizable population, or major metropolitan area?
What are you talking about JJ? you live in NYC so it doesn't matter for you. I'm sure you'll be fine if you build a fort out of pictures of Spiderman.

Well, that's the capital gone.
And if was either yesterday or tomorrow, so would the Queen.
(Canberra, Australia, in case you were wondering)

Well I live in Pearl City, Hawaii...but I wouldn't really call it a city. So lets say Honolulu got nuked. I'm roughly 12 miles from downtown Honolulu. So I'm well out of the range for a WWII era nuke. Sooooo...radiation poisoning? Nuclear fallout? Internet would be down...that would suck.

(Last one was for the lols)

There goes me and everyone in this country. Probably a bit of Malaysia to go along. :p

If nuked by...
Little Boy: Fallout, radiation
Fat Man: Fallout, radiation
Joe-4: Injured or killed, radiation
Mk28: Injured or killed, radiation, entire country destroyed
Tsar Bomba: Dead, entire country destroyed, surrounding countries affected
B61: Injured or killed, radiation
DF-31: Fallout, radiation
Asteroid Impact: Ho ho ho!

My nearest city runs all the busses, post service and all that malarkey for my town next door. So there goes that. However once I learned to drive I'd be ok.

I live in the North-West in the Netherlands. If the city I live in gets nuked, I'm dead obviously (or if I'm at school at that time, homeless, jobless and without family).
If the nearest city gets nuked, the outcome would be almost the same, since the nearest city is just a small 5 km away from this one.
Depending on how nuke-proof our infrastructure is, the lower regions of this area might flood due to us being under sea-level and all that.

Anything in the high kiloton to megaton range has the capability of hitting multiple cities in the densely populated Netherlands.

Erm, if I didn't die from being a mile in the city, it'd kill 132,000 people, and also we're England's youngest city, so why would people nuke us?

I live about less then 20 miles away from one city and about less then 40miles away from another.

One of them is large Navy Port and with large Naval training areas.

If so if Plymouth (The Navy one) get's nuked I think I'll be ok, maybe with some rad poisoning.
the other one does I'm screwed.
