I GOT THE PERFECT IDEA !!

Have Online PLAY !!!!!!!!
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

sorry, but no. The point of ES is not to be online. That's what WoW is for. Of course, if there was a separate ES MMO that would be vaguely acceptable. But if it was an MMO it would be nigh unmodable and it would ruin any immersion whatsoever. I would liketo see more weapons, better voice actors, better fighting etc.. the usual
what if the online was better than the single player in everyway ?
Well, I play on the pc so... Mods.

I would like to see the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves GUild expanded upon. What about an option to pledge yourself to a daedra lord. Again, I want to see another realm of Oblivion. How about the option to domesticate wildlife, open a farm for income. With that being said, more way to spend your money. How about really cool houses you can by outside of a city. Maybe even some hookers. I am a fan of randomly generated dungeons, tha way it is always new. More things to just look at, Oblivion was just one romanesquic ruin after another. I would like to see the game take place in either Elswyer or Hammerfall. Better yet why not all of Tamriel. That would be the bes option since each provience has one basic geographical feature. If they redo Morrowind, then they should do the whole province and not just Vanderfell. Again the only online option I see working for this game is online arena matches, but nothing else.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Oblivion was bigger, it just felt smaller because of the unlimited draw distance, the ability to run much faster and indefinately without consequence, and the fast travel to anywhere.

Basically, I want the good from Morrowind (RIDICULOUSLY rich and deep story that was relevant to, and taught you about the entire culture and history of Morrowind. Very diverse landscapes and architecture, enemies and shop merchandise not leveling with you) mixed with the good from Oblivion (graphics, draw distance, indefinite running, magic system). Also the Melee combat needs to be seriously revamped so that it's a lot more immersive and interesting. Better voice acting and more actors is great too.
I loved the Morrowind story, in fact, I would be almost content if TES V was just a remake of Morrowind with more voice actors and less hair styles that are sharper than my sword.

More immersion.

Less generic fantasy bullshit.

Less DICKING with pre-established lore.

MORE VOICE ACTORS... I'd even be content with text boxes for lesser NPCs.

Less concentration on GRAFIX!!!1 and more on story, depth, role-playing and re-playability.

INTERESTING CHARACTERS.

Less repetitive combat.

Get rid of the fast travelling, as it makes the world feel incredibly small.

Better physics engine.

More interesting spells.

MORE dialogue options and quest branching.

Bring back the old armour slots.

More weapons and armour. Make Daedric armour and such RARE, like it used to be.

Some other stuff I haven't thought of.
Here we have somebody who probably didn't play Morrowind. Without fast travel, it takes about 2 weeks real time to walk from one place to another. Admittedly fast travel did make the world feel small but to me it was infinitely preferable to trudging through the mountainous areas of north Vvardenfell looking for a small village which I found before but have apparently misplaced during the course of my adventures.

It needs every single mod in the top 100 oblivion mods (on TesNexus) bar the stupid skimpy girl ones and a new story and then Im in!! I would like to see an actual mine in operation and a larger variety of boss characters that are unique. And some new unexplored deadric realms.

Online would never work, maybe arena online like Crimson Moon said but to get the whole thing online it would mean: no fast travel, no waiting, no sleeping among other things. Plus I think someone mentioned Oblivion Online. To get that to work they pretty much had to strip oblivion down to nothing + when online the other player was just a naked Bosmer with a warhammer

2 weeks? Daggerfall took 2 weeks to cross in real time, but it was also the size of Great Britain. Morrowind and Oblivion took maybe 2 hours to cross the map max.

Personally I loved Morrowind's style, in my opinion Vvardenfell was a very interesting place and I honestly never got bored of trekking throught the ashlands (crazy I know). Hopefully, in TES V they bring back Morrowind style fast travel with perhaps some more destinations dotted across the map. Oblivion was bad because it was made on the assumption that you would use fast travel, in several quests you must travel the length of Cyrodiil multiple times. If you get a quest in Skingrad you should be able to do it in the vicinity of Skingrad.

Other things I want to see:

No level scaling, don't reduce it, don't tone it down, just get rid of it, I never liked the idea.

No built in walkthrough, sometimes the 'journal' and 'compass' in Oblivion were just insulting. Let us stand on our own two feet and work things out ourselves.

More choices and consequences, in Oblivion you made very few choices and those that you did make had very little consequence. We should be able to take different paths down most quests and if we screw up, have us face the consequences.

More ambiguity, in the previous games the Empire had united Tamriel by often using questionable methods, in Morrowind you had to think, am I really doing the right thing, helping the Empire, it would have been better if you could weren't still forced down a linear main quest, but the ambiguity there made it better. Similarily with Dagoth Ur, even if he was doing things the wrong way, you could actually sympathise with his motives. And the Daedra were really intriguing and mysterious, always doing whatever helped themselves.

In Oblivion all that goes out of the window, the Empire are the good guys and the Daedra are the bad guys, no questions asked. Your main advesaries want to destroy for the world just for the lolz from all you can gather. (Apart from that final speech which, due to several inconsitencies with the lore I am inclined to pass off as the ramblings of the madman.) All the quests in the next game should make you think about whether what you doing is right (apart from the customary Fed Ex assignments) sometimes you can find a definitive answer, sometimes you can't.

I'll end it there or I could go on for hours.

EDIT: And about the online debate, small scale co-op could be nice as long as it doesn't detract from the rest of the game. Anything beyond that can stay away from the Elder Scrolls.

Then I assume many people have the "perfect" idea.

I wish for online play as well, don't worry.
so you agree with me ?
100%
thats gd to here

YAY FOR ESCAPIST COMMUNITY !
...woot!
Not going to happen. It would require alot of work and would get really screwy with spells. I shoot my fireball at the goblin near you causing the explosive radius to hit you which your armour reflects back onto me.
It's always a possibility, if I'm correct, the PC had a beta of online oblivion.

Plus I wasn't saying it was going to happen, I was just stating the fact that it would be nice if The Elder Scrolls had some type of online co-op.

And think for a second, it will take many, many years for it to come out, plus they are going to need an entire new storyline, new gameplay (which means no crazy super amazing spells, copy glitches, and infinite stats) and with taking all of those into account, it could be very possible.
instead of having a Online 1 u could have a solo-play With Optional online play.On the online area you can buy and create a shop and all tht instead of the Wierd NPC's,i no it would take Donkeys to make but all the ES fans would kill there family for a chance to get it xD

It might be cool to have a VATS type system for preforming advanced maneuvers such as disarming, power attacks, decapitation, hobbling, etc. All stylized of course, a bit similar to the combat animations in KotOR (a few feints, a few blocks sending showers of sparks, and then you leap at the enemy bringing your sword down on them hard)
Thia is one the best posts I have read in this thread. making VATS, just named it differently, in TES games would kick some much ass.

I also agree on the combat animations. A sword master can do a lot more then what we saw in any the TES games. Any weapons m,aster for that matter. They need to motion capture some real people who can really fight with weapons. Add those animations into the game.

Also, Co-Op is good, MMO is BAD BAD BAD!!! NO TES MMO!!

No more leveled monsters/better leveled monster system.
I wanna see Ocato take power for himself and try to become Emperor... and have the player as his right hand man :O! (If you want to.)
Better conversation pie.

I loved morrowind, and oblivion, but I'd like to see more diverse items first and foremost. Less strict restrictions on spells secondly, I don't mean everything can be a GODSPELL but at least make incredible spells for enough mana to fill a small ocean.

A little more varied landscape maybe? More weather would be a cool idea. Of course more/better voice acting would always be appreciated, not like hearing one dude do the voices of every male of his race...

Bring back the morrowind death of important characters just because it's much more difficult that way?

oh, and stealth... yeah you may have 200 stealth, but really it's bright daylight standing right in front of the guy... seriously.

Ability to erase spells

Fighting guild missions should be more like the ones at the begining, same goes for DB

seriously cant I just advance in the ranks of a guild like a normal person, does there really need to be a guild changing event

Well, they need to fix the obvious things (stiff NPCs, load times, bugs, pop up graphics), but otherwise, I was rather content with Oblivion. Granted, what I mentioned are pretty big deals, but nothing that they can't fix. The biggest thing for me though, is that every single cave/temple/mine looks exactly the same. It'll take a lot of work to make every single area look different, seeing that the worlds are huge, but I have faith.

Just a couple of things from me:

- I'd like to have some of the size of Morrowind back. Oblivion, while big, was smaller in actual size than Morrowind I thought.
- Fighting on horseback. I was pretty sure that this was going to be one of the big new things in Oblivion but I was disappointed once I saw that you couldn't.
- Lastly I'd have to say bringing back levitation and making it necessary. I really liked it in Morrowind.

the whole point to TES is that nothing is NECESSARY and you can make your char how u want him/her

that said they need to come up with less generic dialouge for the chars, having 5 voices and 10 lines per voice gets REALLY boring after 30-70 hr of play, but then the fact that ive logged over a hundred hours of play on that game is a testament to its worth

More of Everything
Better of Everything
More Variety in the environments, Every thing looked the same in Oblivion, have rivers, swamps, mountain regions, islands, cities in the clouds I don't care just have something more than just the copy pasted shrubbery and trees every where.

The ability to befriend random npc's and found a settlement or town off in the wilderness.

And I think that the more magically powerful you become, your skin should become more and more luminous and if it gets to the point where you are powerful beyond measure, your immediate area should change accordingly. For example, flowers and plants should sprout and bloom in areas where you spend alot of time if you are a good character or die and wither and the ground crack if you are evil.

I think the idea of evil factions being able to randomly lay seige to towns and cities and eventually capture them is promising.

And when you die you should have to live with the consequences instead of having to reload your last save. For example, if you die at the great gate of bruma, martin gets killed and when you become conscious again or are revived, you should have to help the people deal with the resulting wave of evil that spreads across the world.

More than one house to choose from in each town.

Bandits that move their camps around that you can hunt from the tracks they leave behind.

I also like the previously mentioned idea of your guild breaking you out of jail.

Ship that actually sail to places and that you could purchase and sail yourself. And as a result of this.......pirate factions that try to board you.
