In the next Elder Scrolls... maybe the water bodies that surround you could be more than just "Those places that offer very little, and always have Slaughterfish.". I'm not asking for a boat, nor am I asking from some sort of aquatic race. But, please, could it be more enticing? Maybe some quests could involve the ship that you boarded to move to another city could sink, and you would have to complete some sort of quest to get back to safety... I dont really know what proper things you should do, but make it more interesting please.

Also, if Khajit are cat people, shouldnt that mean that naturally they should be able to see in the dark automatically? Well, not according to Bethesda, as in Oblivion you would have to cast a spell every five minutes to see in the dark. Make sure that racial characteristics arnt cheap or annoying next time...

head flying off really? It takes a hell of a lot to get through bone.
Actually you'd be surprised how little force is required to remove a human limb, especially with a tool/weapon made for such a purpose. I think you'd be able to sever a human hand at the wrist with just a normal kitchen knife if you just gave it a good swing.

anyway enough with the irl severing bodyparts discussion.

But i would definitely want to see dismemberment as a part of the next TES game. It would be way cool to have in a game and makes the combat more realistic.

Werewolves would be good to...
They had werewolves in morrowind, I never really liked it though. Vampires were much better.
You died if you went to sleep or waited though.
If you waited till day.

1) They should change combat back to how it was in Morrowind.

2) Get rid of the Oblivion gates... seriously, they were so repetitive and boring.

3) Better leveling system... something like Galsiahs Character Development (a Morrowind Mod)

4) Bigger, of course.

5) More weapon materials (can't think of a better way to put it... by materials I mean Glass, Ebony, Daedric etc.)

6) More enemies, Oblivion gets really repetitive at high levels.

7) More spells!

Those last 4 are no-brainers, but the first three need attention, in my opinion.

I've read through all of this and seen a few instances of "How about some climbing?" "No wai bucko, this is Elder Scrolls, not Spiderman's Creed!"... So does this mean everybody has forgotten Daggerfall? I'm sure Arena would've had it too if it'd been a little more ambitious and/or technologically advanced.

I actually have an idea for meshing Assassin's Creed-style climbing with a skill-based RPG. When any object (building, rock, tree or whatever) is modelled, the modeller can choose edges or an entire section of the wireframe and edit the climbing properties for that particular "grabby spot". The lower the number you enter, the easier it is to grab.

For instance, imagine you're modelling a house. So you select the edges that make up a windowsill on the second floor. It protrudes quite a bit, so it'll be easy to grab, meaning it should have a rather low number entered into its climbing property box. Now, a little further up the wall there might be a crack in the spackle where a more skilled climber would be able to jam his hand into and get a grip. This place would have a higher value in the climbing properties field.

So the player will only be able to grab a particular feature if he has a climbing skill that is equal to or higher than the feature's climbing property. Furthermore, if your climbing skill is higher than the feature's number, you should traverse it faster, so someone with that skill maxed-out will pretty much fly right past an easy ledge with a value of, say, 12 as if he was Son of Kong or something.

So, if you can get past the idea that climbing has no place in TES (because it totally does- scaling the city walls at night in Daggerfall was pretty rad), do you think that idea is totally ridiculous?

that climbing idea was pretty cool i like it

i guess have minions would be okay just not if it gets over the top

larger battles between npcs

forge your own custom weapons not just madness or amber

no oblivion gates

more creatures

expieriance leveling because skill levelling can be wierd because levelling you swords skill depends on how many hits it takes to kill the enemy so having a better sword actualy decreases your ability to level

music was good but more of it more different tracks

Cooler death sequences like instead of me just clobbering someone till they fall down how aout the finnishing blow lodges in their neck and i yank it out or something or i stab them then use my foot to get it back out i mean i think i would make you feel like more of a badass

I think killing enemies should be easier but their should be more of them like instead of a buch of hits to kill the one goblin in the room 1 or 2 hit to kill each of the 10 goblins in the room

along with the finnishing blow thing this could be really cool because you walk in to a room full of 20 bandits and proceed to baddasly butcher them in cool ways and leave thier body hanging over furniture and missing limbs

spells should be more diverse, bring back levitateing and those scrolls from oblivion that gave you fortify agility 1000 and made you fly only to crash to you death if you havent thought of some brilliant idea to make you survive the fall

a slightly larger world

alot more unique arms/armour not just iron steel silver galss deadric w/e

make it in a new kingdom

destructable enviorments

more voice actors

more veriety of terrian desserts, jungles, plains, tundras

bring back spears

just a random idea but maybe which creature you put in a soul stone should effect how it looks and what effect it gives you when you enchant an item with it

make enchanting your own items more accesible

head flying off really? It takes a hell of a lot to get through bone. what about if you hit a major artery their health started to deteriorate and blood spurted from the wound. ooh ooh and how about breaking limbs? hm? anyone? like if you hit them with a warhammer in the the arm with a high enough skill in blunt you hear a wonderful bone crunching sound unless they have on some heavy armor. then you could have bandages to stop bleeding.
Yeah went kind of overboard but actual reactions to being hit would be great for realism

its fine, I'd like to crush heads. like if you and the enemy are parallel with a wall and a swing with a hammer at the head will crush the skull between the wall and the hammer. also more realistic combat is a very good idea. depending on the type of armor you have depends on how many blows you can take, same with your enemies.

All this talk of Ass. Creed has made me think that I'd like to see an RPG with more claustrophobic and intricate city designs and hundreds of NPC's in a moving and dynamic city rather then the TES 'Cities' That have more guards then pop and just kinda drift around stiffly having awkward conversations with each other.

I would like to see the features of Morrowind continued with a more dynamic animation system.

If I am an acrobat I want to MOVE look like one. If I am a Bad ass Knight I want to move and look like one.

Well i would like better more fast paced combat like if you took dark messiah and oblivion and fused them and got rid of the rough edges that both the games had and a bigger world like how big morrowind is but not as bad looking and maybe some exotic creatures like something that wasn't used 5 years ago

Only two big things:

1. Horseback Combat
2. Being able to go anywhere in Tamriel. (Not going to happen, but it would still be f***ing awesome!)

All the Good of Morrowind
1. Awesome main quest and expansions
2. Diverse landscapes
3. Morrowind made you feel like you were and outsider, I want the NPC's to give a damn
4. Levitation
5. Long Blade, Short Blade, Axe, Spear, Medium Armor, Unarmored, Mysticism didn't suck, crossbows, darts, shurikens etc.
6. Great Houses/Temple/Legion/Imperial Chapel
All the good of Oblivion
1. Visuals
2. Block button
3. Magic and Enchanting were easy to use
4. Skill perks
Some things that want/could be fixed
1. No scaling loot and enemies (Different level areas)
2. Control the shield bash
3. Maybe a hand reaching out to grab something instead of the lame hovering in front of you thing
4. A decent 3rd person perspective
5. Make archery and magic as powerful as melee
6. Regional damage, arrows to face shouldn't do the same as arrows to the leg
7. Let us gild our weapons and armor with the minerals and gems found throughout the world
8. Better/more guilds
9. NPC's I could give a damn about
10. Romance
11. Ability to beat the game as a pure spellcaster, or pure rogue/theif. Higher level oblivions kicked my ass on my thief
12. Keep the fast travel
13. Lycanthropy was kick ass/make vampires more desirable
14. More than one quest for each deaedric lord/ quests for each of the nine
15. More armors and weapons. The armors fit with the game, but could you recolor the weapons/armor, or have some weapons/armor designed visually for darker characters w/ spikes, horns etc. Armors/weapons for more heroic characters w/ shiny/reflective finishes
16. Make hand to hand useful in combat, maybe make gloves have a damage rating
17. Adorn weapons and armor with the many teeth found ingame
18. The races hold the weapons differently. If redgaurds are so good with the blade, why does a redgaurd in combat look like a wood elf in combat? Different fighting styles maybe, or if you suck at blade, your actions are erratic and jerky, while if you are a master, your attacks are graceful and pinpoint accurate

And another word on the fast travel,I seem to be the only one who exercised the magic ability to not use it.
Sorry for the long post, I just have alot to say about this series. and I can't wait for Fallout.

I agree if they were to combine the good of morrowind such as hand detailed environments and vary diverse skills with the good of oblivion such as skill perks and easier magic they could make a great game. As for ways to improve it would be different fighting styles, mass effect style dialogue that actual effects the conversation, and the ability to design your own armor.

Mass effect dialogue is overhyped.
