"this isn't going to go well for me. my specialty is fire, and these bastards can't burn... I hate to admit it but I'm pretty much helpless!" she says, whilst actually getting to the front of the group in a surprising change from the normal that could be expected from such a situation. "but, I'm heavily resistant to fire at the same time, so I suggest you two put a plan together while I act as a shield before I get too singed."
Akane - Canteen
After listening to everybody chat along and Mele craft a new gauntlet right there, Akane stood up and excused herself, carrying the sleeping knight with deceptive ease. "It was nice to meet you all, minna. But it seems I have to go put Gabs to bed. Bye now!"
Leaving the canteen and walking through the halls, she ran into Angelus. "Hello Angelus. How are you today?" she said as she reshuffled the sleeping shadow knight in her arms.
It was the bard's turn to look confused. "Hmph, so they've brought misery to you two as well. As for myself, back in our homeland, my love, Furiae was made into a being known as the Goddess; which established her as a seal that would keep our world in balance. Because of this... I was unable to fulfill the betrothal that was established between us. Eventually, in my attempts to defend her from the Empire that sought her death; we were both captured. As fate would have it, I found that they were seeking to free her of the seal, which sounded wonderful. But, I was fooled, and the woman I loved's blood was spilled.
With the world going mad, and the Seeds of Resurrection being sown; I took it upon myself to bring her back. At every turn, Caim and that dragon fought me and tried to convince otherwise. I was not to be swain. Thus, I was able to bring her back into the seed, but the process went wrong; and I was killed myself. But another seed was able to bring myself back to this mortal coil without harm; which I have to thank my former pact partner for... And now I find that the two fled here... It is, infuriating, to say the least; to find out that fortune has smiled upon them. But is my request so wrong, to be with the one I love?"
Teri
The imps, although intimidating at first to the Writer, did not make her back down. With a train of thought she did not entirely know the origin of, she scribbled on her tablet for a moment, and a silver crossed necklace appeared; to which the young Cleric took in hand. With a solemn look in her eye, and her aura flaring bright, the young girl spoke with authority and yelled out (via tablet);
Code:
"You are not welcome here, being of fire and brimstone! BEGONE, IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT!"
When the targetted Mephit disappeared; the young cleric blinked for a moment, and wondered aloud,
Code:
"Funny, I thought Clerics only banished Undead..."
Angelus
The dragon gave a small nod of acknowledgment, "I am fine, Akane. I was merely checking in on the Author for a moment. As for now, I think I shall be walking to the Canteen for a quick snack."
Akane and Angelus
Akane nodded back with a smile on her face. "Good to hear. Jake cooked up a big breakfast of Bacon and Eggs this morning, there should still be a fair amount left if you wish to have some. It was excellent! Speaking of Authors, have you seen mine? He said he was going out for a flight, but I never saw him out there. I think I might go check the hanger, then the training rooms. Isn't he still training with Caim and the new sword I gave him?"
"but, I'm heavily resistant to fire at the same time, so I suggest you two put a plan together while I act as a shield before I get too singed."
Fionn grinned "Well, we're out of the firing pan then." He pulled out Sandy and began taking aim at two of the creatures, waiting for two to be close enough to each other to get them both in one shot. A white glow ran down both of the Shotgun's barrels. At just one instant, two of the imps flew past each other. "You two need to chill out."
Blizzard Shot.
As the pellets ripped apart the wings of the two elementals, icicles appeared at each wound the blast inflicted, freezing the imps. He fired another shot, shattering the two into pieces. The ice began to melt rapidly under the temperature, Fionn stretched his left hand, so the melted ice dropped onto his Gauntlet. He fired the Electrical discharge roughly at another imp to take pressure off his partners.
As three of the mephits were eliminated, the other three were able to summon a reinforcement mephit each. They were slightly dazed, but the fire elemental covered that weakness with a gout of fire directed at the group. Just as Kalastryn said, the mephits were unaffected by the fires washing across them, but the one already attacked by the lightning wasn't healed by the flame.
"Mmmm...So you have a bone to pick with them as well...." Bruiser said as he began to recount his side of the story, Being VERY liberal about the details.
"So, back where I came from, There are creatures called Pokemon, That's what I am, a Machok-.....Machop to be exact. There are lots of them, some are fish, some are birds....Some are dragons. Basically, just think of lots of magical creatures prancing about, yadda yadda yadda. I first met Toots when she came into MY world, don't ask, I don't know either. But back then, I ran in a Gang: Team. Rocket. We did what we wanted, when we wanted. Needless to say, I got my way a LOT. See, the group uses Pokemon for profit, turns out rats that can shock people to death can be rather useful. My job was...."Training" Them. These guys can control elements, turn your mind to mush, you need to keep them in line otherwise you're in for a WORLD of hurt.
So When Angie was "Brought in", I was in charge of bring her onto the winning team. She stuck out a lot, but I kept that ***** in line. My kind are super-humanly strong, I could lift this entire van and back when I had muscle, freaking buildings! Well, after we broke her in and set her off for a REALLY big Job, Guess who shows up but the Mime himself. Got in a few lucky hits, but I still say I won the fight, despite him getting away. But as I got patched up, Bad News.
See, Caim managed to, how do I put this?...."Re-convince" Toots to turn on us. The Boss was on site, all that was left was ash, The rest of the group fled or got arrested and thus she took away everything I knew and loved. I couldn't let her get away after THAT. So, when she made the trip home, I tagged along. Got thrown out of a plane for my troubles, still don't know how that happened....
From there, I awoke in a place called "Hawaii", Nice place, lots of beaches, Lots of Bikinis, Heheheh.
I hung about for a while until Man in Red here (Bison) Called me looking for a job. See, that guy used to own this entire Landmass, Massive Empire, It was AWESOME!
Came this close, THIS CLOSE, to making that ***** pay.
Then someone opened the cells and we lost and she burnt me into a crisp and put me int he burn ward, which ironically, burnt down, and I tell ya.
That day? She REALLY should have just killed me.
So I worked freelance for a while, Met her again in New York, After...I think some giant Mammoth or something wreaked the joint, No really, this world sucks for shit like that. I was minding my known business til I met a...errrr "Former Squeeze" of mine. So we hooked up, hung out, had a good time.
Thhhhhhhhen, she showed up and tore my arms off.
*****.
After that, I met these guys, I mean, I was a wreak, Burns all over my body, no arms, bleeding out, then they went and saved me. Gave me some wicked Metal Replacement arms and freaking Cannons. CANNONS!
So I went after her another way by trying to.....You know what, that's another story and it'd take too long, I died Basically.
But, for our group, Death is more of a Inconvenience and here I am.
Though there were some side effects, I'm actually in my 30's or so.
So Yeah.....She's a *****."
The young author was in awe of her ally's skill in dispatching the Mesphits, but snapped back to reality when another one of them leaped at her. She dodged to the side, but with a cut on her hip. The heated talons of the beings made the wound sting especially, as a burn rose up around the cut. Biting back a curse, the girl held up the cross again, (silently praying that her tactic would work a second time) and called,
Code:
"You shall fall as your brethern did! In the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit; I command you to begone from this place!"
A heaviness settled over the Mesphits, unable to move under the gaze of the wounded cleric.
Code:
"Get them now, while they are cowed from the power of the Lord!"
Angelus and Akane
Angelus smiled faintly, "I was there for that breakfast, remember? Hmn... Some bacon does sound nice... However, as far as Authors go, I do not know of Jake's whereabouts. As for Caim, he is sleeping in our Quarters. I can still tell he is there; as his mind is quiet to me."
Inuart had pulled out his guitar again while Bruiser spoke, and played a light refrain while the Machop told his story. When he got a dirty look from Bruiser, Inuart shrugged, "I like to keep my hands busy. Don't mind me."
However, despite the look of his actions; he did indeed pay full attention to Bruiser's story. When he finished, Inuart gave a light sigh; and said, "Well then, we share a common enemy, Bruiser. You hate the dragon and I loathe it's rider. Perhaps the Gods look kindly on us this day; for I can tell you a thing or two about them: strengths, weaknesses, the like. Well, you might already know because of the times you've clashed with them; but if you have any other questions, I'll be more than happy to oblige."
His playing rose in spirit as his words gained a lightly optimistic tone. Even if he looked worthless, he knew how to make those strings sing.
"If I know those two at all, they will not be leaving this realm soon. Ours in uninhabitable, if not downright destroyed. Now, I can only ask, what are our plans for the moment? After all, a want for revenge is no good if you cannot complete it properly."
He continued to play for a moment longer; and then there was a painful sounding *TWANG* as Inuart realized all that he had just heard;
"Wait a minute! WAIT ONE DAMN MINUTE! You're saying you came back to life?! And that your company can do so easily?! Then that means... Furiae! Please, you have to help me! I know for a fact that the damned Hammer Empire has her body! If your people could help me get it back! She could live again!"
The previously calm bard's face was now painted with an expression that stretched the term 'glee' and was more along the terms of 'borderline insane' as he began to laugh. A joy-filled, sick laugh.
"Get them now, while they are cowed from the power of the Lord!"
"Alrighty Then." He produced his sabre, holding it in his right hand. He used his Gauntlet to shield his face from the worst of the flames, and ran to the two imps to return the favour. The same while glow that ran down Sandy now ran up the blade of the sabre. He sprinted in to hit both with one slash. As the imps were cut, two pillars of ice erupted from the ground, each piercing an imp and freezing them, he leaped back, cocked Sandy, and fired, once again shattering a pair of the creatures.
taking this as an opportunity to make herself useful as something other than a meatshield she remembers the stone wand she used in her fight with Rugal, pulling it out of her robe, she decides to, instead of petrifying them, conjure up 2 earth elementals to even the numbers a little. while they wouldn't be able to do much damage to the incorporeal fire elemental, they wouldn't be bad at crushing fleshy creatures like the mephits. one digs its hands into the floor and the metal of the training room grabs the one most recently hurt by the lightning, the other then proceeds to begin pummeling it with it's "fists", which for good reason hurt like being punched with a cinder block.
Akane and Angelus
Akane laughed. "Ara ara, so you were! I am sorry, my mind is just wandering a little I think. Well then, I have a knight to put to bed. She does prefer the nighttime after all..." The kitsune said a little bashfully.
Walking off, it was only a quick walk to their room, where Akane deposited Gabrielle and tucked her in. Leaving with a quick kiss to her forehead, Akane set off for the hanger. Upon arriving she found it empty, with Jake's fighter still tied down in its spot, but looking a bit cleaner. Akane shook her head a little, and headed for the training rooms. Even though Caim was sleeping, Jake could still be training on his own.
Akane reached the training rooms, finding Jake in the center of one, eyes closed and looking very peaceful with his sword on his lap.
"Come on in Akane, though I wasn't expecting you to be honest, I was waiting for Caim. Perhaps Aftan got waylaid or found something more important that needed taking care of." Jake said without opening his eyes.
"...Jake. How did you know it was me?" Akane asked a little confused.
"You walk softly and wear leather soled shoes, and the swish of your tails also gives you away. A little tip, I'm quite blind without my glasses, and over the years I've honed my hearing to a higher standard than the average human." Jake explained, finishing with a deep breath.
"Ahh. So... What are you doing then? Waiting for Caim?" Akane asked.
"Meditating. Thinking, reflecting. Wondering if I really should have come across. You know, that kinda thing."
"Oh. That is quite deep, something I would have never thought you would do Jake. I'll... I'll give you some space and go find Aftan."
"No! I mean, you are free to stay if you want, Akane. It might help me calm down. I'm so anxious right now, just... Just a friendly presence should soothe my troubled soul." Jake asked shakily.
Akane nodded, and sat down next to Jake, crossing her arms in her sleeves. "Hmm, I think I will stay by your side, and take a little quite time for myself."
Bruiser nodded in agreement as he took a swig of his beer, least before Inuart freaked out. "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Calm down. Yeah, we could do that....for a price." He said as he nodded to Bison.
[color=6c1504]"*Ahem* Well, I'm sure we could arrange for her to be transferred over, but know this. If we do this and it works, keep in mind one thing: You will be debt to us and we aren't ones to lose track on payments. Understood?"[/color]
The Van stopped moving as they reached the city Airport.
They stepped out as a Air Transport with the trademark yellow paint job and "AIM" Logo on landed near them.
[color=6c1504]"Right, We'll be using this to get to our HQ. Hope you don't mind flying."[/color] He explained as the pair of them boarded and the Transport took off. "Just a heads up, Might want to check in with the Egghead in charge before you go bringing in your girlfriend or else you might be changing her diapers on your honeymoon...Unless your into that sort of thing..." Bruiser warned, he was living proof of how hit and miss Cortex's research could be.
The Fire elemental went in and focused on the Earth elemental, scorching the stonework while the three summoned mephits each went to torch one of the three.
Meanwhile, on the monitor outside the room, Slindis panicked when the words
Code:
INSUFFICENT CHALLENGE. RECALCULATING... ELDER ELEMENTAL SELECTED. DEPLOYING IN 30 SECONDS
flashed across the monitor. Although she was still fairly new with these computers, she had to shut this simulation down before everyone in there got killed.
The three in the room could feel the temperature increasing even further as small wisps of flame began forming in one area of the room. Although those uninitiated to Slindis' training may think this to be the norm, Teri knew that her teacher knew when too put an end to something.
Something was up here, and it seemed this assault may be the calm before the storm.
kalastryn noticed the change in temperature started rising much more heavily than before, she was surprised her stonework hadn't already turned into molten lava. "somethings up, last time things got this heated was when I was in fernia, the very plane of fire... I think something is genuinely wrong here, we need to get out of here, and fast."
update to Kala's character sheet, she replaced the spell bull's strength with suggestion, allowing her to mentally dictate the actions of those who understood the language she tries to convey. of course, it's only temporary, lasting maybe about a 1 minute and a half
Teri frowned as she held her will over the turned Mephits, and called to her companions;
Code:
"... Something's wrong! I know my teacher's handiwork can get a bit rough; but this isn't normal! Prepare yourselves!"
The girl put the cross necklace in her pocket and held the tablet at ready. If things were getting this out of hand, she might need to call in some serious Author Intervention.
Angelus
As the dragon made her way to the mess hall, she 'sent' a message to her partner, after finally deciding that he had enough sleep for the moment, and told him of an expected appointment. Upon reaching the Hall, she quietly began to nibble on some cold bacon, and reveled in the small amount of peace gained for the moment.
Inuart
Inuart nodded fervently, his smile fading ever so slightly as he got onto the plane; "So, basically, if I arrange to have her revived, I'll be working for your company for an even longer time? I can deal with that. It would be worth it to me in the end; to see her face full of life once more. As for speaking to this... Er, Egghead, I'll get right to that. I have to thank you, gentlemen. You've no idea what this means to me..."
Jake and Akane - Training Rooms
As Jake and Akane sat in silence, Caim awoke in his room thanks to his Partner's message. Silently he arose and armed himself, making his way down to the training rooms. He came across Slindis outside her training room, panicking.
As Caim arrived, Jake stood up. Akane looked up at him with a questioning look on her face. "Time to train, Akane. Caim is here, only he stomps like that. But why'd he stop outside?" Jake said before walking outside and also noticing Slindis and her panicked state.
Slindis turned immediately when Jake talked. [color=c20000]"Do you know how to work this? Yes or no?"[/color] the Paladin quickly cast a spell meant to guard against fire spells as she drew her equipment, ready to head inside. On the screen next to her, it read
Code:
REMOVAL OF LESSER FIRE CREATURES COMPLETE. ELDER FIRE ELEMENTAL WILL ARRIVE IN FIFTEEN SECONDS.
Inside the room, the heat continued increasing as the other mephits and elemental vanished. However, the wisps of fire were coalescing into a much larger body, easily three times the height of Teri.
"Dunno. I'm not one for technology, but when I see fire and a bunch of flashing light's I don't think that's the best thing in the world..."
However, his thought process was interrupted by the Fire Elemental beginning to appear on camera. With gritted teeth; he dipped into the Armory for a moment and pulled out Mermaid's Feast, a devil's looking Monk's Spade (and subsequently kicked out Injustice)
Code:
"Let's go, before the amateurs get themselves roasted."
Teri
The Cleric's eyes widened upon seeing the Fire Elemental rise from the flames, and pulled out her Silver Cross for another attempt at turning the beast. Channeling the power of The Lord, she called out again,
Code:
"In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; kneel in the presence of the Almighty!"
However, unlike her other two tries... No fruit was to be borne. The beast merely looked at her with contempt, and readied itself for it's attack; a dark and husky laugh rolling out of it's maw.
Jake, Akane, Slindis and Caim - Training Rooms
Jake frowned and leapt to the console as Slindis geared up to save those trapped inside. He started furiously typing on the keypad, trying to open the door. Akane also drew her sword and stood ready to charge.
"Gah! Its no use, the program is locked itself in! Best I can do is open the door, but we have to be quick to end the scenario or it'll keep ramping up! Alright.... 3.2.1. NOW!" Jake called out.
The door unlocked and slid open, revealing a terrible sight.
Jake, Akane, Slindis and Caim - Training Rooms
When she went in the room, Slindis immediately began giving commands as the elemental bolstered itself against the cold, and violet glints could be seen dancing along its outer flames. [color=c20000]"Teri, Kalastryn, leave. Men, on me!"[/color] Slindis used the same spell that she used on herself on Caim, Jake, and Fionn, bolstering their defenses against the flames to make them bearable. [color=c20000]"If you wish to leave, I will not fault you. However, should you wish to fight, put all your might into each and every blow. It's an elemental, not invincible!"[/color]
The huge elemental seemed to sneer before launching a massive fireball at the group.
