Can I please get some clarification that a badge like 'Communicator' or 'Mavern' requires communitcation from 25 to 100 different people?. Because thats a fair effort to achieve something like that then.

Thanks!

Aye. I made that bit more obvious for a reason. Has to be different people.

Thank you! I know then I'm a fair way away from any of those then.
Yeah, I was roughly keeping count until I got Connector, but after that I thought I'd just let it be. Will be a nice surprise when I get it.

I love it when you randomly get a badge you know you're close to getting. I knew when Lover not a fighter was coming so that wasn't exciting, but prolific was very exciting (mainly because its my favorite badge on here) and I had no idea when it was coming.

I don't even have communicator yet, so I have a long way to go. Then again I've been here two months so thats probably to be expected.

Well I don't think I'm anywhere near getting Prolific yet. That's mainly because I post about 100 times in the same topic. Also during those two months you've posted a fair amount more than I have in seven, so, I think you'll be alright getting the badges quickly. But yeah, I also have no idea of my progression on Prolific. I'd guess I'm just under half way, maybe.

Argh, the Unconquerable badge contains a latin grammar error!
The quote by Ceasar is "Veni, Vidi, Vici" not "Vini, Vidi, Vici".

Sorry, but as studier of Latin I just had to point that out.

Yeah I've noticed I seem to be on here a lot... The weird thing is, I probably play video games less now than when I wasn't on the Escapist. Then again I hang around off topic 85% of the time so I'm not really talking much about games anyway. I do the same amount of study though... that was one thing that was concerning me. Phew! Not an issue!

It took me 1900 posts or so to nab prolific... and as far as I can gather its a fairly similar story for other people. So yeah you might have a little way to go. Its sweet when you do get it though - as you said, a nice surprise! :)

Make the most of being smug, I'm sure somebody will try to take it away :p

Yeah. I'm not to fussed with my badge future though. The four badges I have under my avatar are my favourites. Especially the "Thanks!" and "Spartan" badges. They're so god damn awesome.

EDIT: Actually I do really want the badge for a 1000 reply topic. It looks so cool. My best chance of getting that is with this thread. It progesses slowly but hangs around so, with time, I think this will get it. Although in terms of replies per time, I think my "Arr, we're PIRATES" thread might have a good chance.

Pointing out grammatical errors makes you smug now? And take away what, the badge or the error?

The glory of being right. I mean don't listen to me, I don't know a word of latin.

Arr we're pirates has a great chance, all those genre wars threads do.

There really isn't another badge I'm desperately after... I doubt I'll make a thread worthy of 1000 replies or 10,000 views as I have trouble with threads, posting seems to be my forte. I wouldn't mind having Neo (ultimate poster)... I haven't got in trouble yet... I like the badges I have now. I'm on track to get cyber celeb soon but I don't really like it, I don't think it looks that good. But I suppose I'll still displace pillar of the community because its the next step up, even though I like pillar better.

Have you noticed that a lot of people have prolific as their third badge along? Or is that just me whose noticed that?

Just you, haha. I agree with you on those badges. The pillar badge is way more cool than the celeb one. My top 4 are a mixture of ones I'm proud of and ones I think look cool though. The spartan badge, even though fairly easy to get, is by far my favourite badge. It's there just for the bling :D

Lol, you bling meister you! I like my badges now... especially as they all have white backgrounds (except for pillar which just looks cool) which works well with my avatar (which is always going to be some sort of Peanuts strip I've decided. It's apparently updating to a new one with Lucy and Schroeder as we speak but its being very slow about it (as in 24 hours slow), probably the high volume of traffic on this site.)

We've just found another use for this thread, talk about why your badges are like they are! It's actually interesting to know... reveals a little bit of the psychology behind the user.

Anyway! I'm off to bed, I have to be up in.... 4 and a half hours i (ie at 4.30am) in order to catch my plane for Escapism Sydney. Oh my poor sleep starved brain...

Ah, this is where we differ. I hate most of the white-background badges :p Anyways, have fun at Escapism!

However, being that I've awarded it, I can tell you some of the things that it MIGHT be:

- Defeating the same person several times
- Defeating an army worth a hell of a lot more than yours
- Defeating an enemy using only one type of unit
- Defeating an enemy but only attacking types you are weak against
- Begging John Funk on penalty of death
How soon are badges awarded after earning them? I thought of your number four theory myself, and decided to test it. I finally (finally) managed to complete both 3 and 4 (defeated an opponent's Tricksters using only a single stack of Chargers), so...
I just got Resilient not too long ago, but I did that a long time ago. Sort of bizarre, but hey, I got it so no problems.

We had issues with the "in a row" badges. Which is why they weren't being given out. So Resilient, Unconquerable, etc. weren't properly being awarded.

I knew it! I should be a detective or something. One question though. Why was the description for 'Unconquerable' changed when it was updated?

I think my experience with Prolific will be along the same lines as yours then :p I like to hang around in a topic rather than post and move on.
