This is just really a topic to pay The Escapist a well deserved kudos and a celebratory hear-hear for attracting a largely intellectual audience. I have noticed recently that the large majority of topics and posts on this site are either of great relevence to the current world state and often ask us to question ourselves as to what we really think of todays society or are based around scientific or philosophical concepts which really broadens our horizens and asks us to think outside the box.

Not to mention the content itself (ie videos, articles, etc) is often intellectually comical and leaves the viewer (in my case anyway) asking themselves "I wander if anyone else got that".

This website is a real gem in the pile of murky unintellegent shite that makes up the most part of the internet and I for one am glad to have found it :).

I am shocked, sir!

That thread made me look deeply into my very being, and forced me to choose...

Chocolate Digestive or Custard Cream?

Eurgh, here we go again - your either a troll trying to trick me into saying the following or your just a very gullible user who's yet to stay on any site long enough to notice flaws...

This site does not have an intelligent forum community - at least, not in the sense they claim to be intelligent - there is little to no intellectual discussion on the boards - it's an interesting forum yes, but it's not intelligent.

The video's themselves...are not that intelligent either - they have to appeal to a wide audience - I don't know which video's you mean exactly but off the top of my head I can't think of any I'd claim to contain "intelligent" comedy. The articles, can be intellectual, but even then it's rare.

Sir, breakfast is one of the most intellectual activities a gentlemanly scholar undertakes on his day to day basis.

And, to OP I think we're just more strictly modded, not more intelligent.

I like it here but as a rule I have with the internet( and life in general) just because there are worse doesn't make it good.

I would not say this forum is intellectual even though I am sure a considerable majority of posters would like to think they are highly intellectual (myself included, in times of pompousness) but it is more refreshing than youtube:

"ZOMG!!1!!1!!!! i cant beliiev i watched dis, itz soooo funni <3 <3"

There have been some posts on here which I have found to be as interesting and enlightening as the writers on this website (these are few and far between, in all honesty); I am in partial agreement with Dufaunce and want to say thanks to everybody that has brightened up my days which I should have spent doing homework for my A-Levels. :D

Yep. I don't want to seem like I'm insulting The Escapist itself, but these forums are far from intelligent. At any given point in time, at least 5 of the threads in the top rotation will be mindless bashing/flaming or a repeat thread of something we talked about 2 hours ago. Or both.

No. We are not better than any other forum. We're just different.

We may not have all the problems other forums suffer from, but this forum does have it's own problems.

I wouldn't say more intellectual, just more heavily moderated. We have standards that we actually follow, you see.

Leave while you still can!!!

That's what all the new comers think. And for the most part it is true. Except for most of the community.

I wouldn't say intellectual, and we're hardly flawless (we go absolutely batshit on death penalty topics. Anime and JRPG's also tend to inspire a good bit of flaming, partly because of Yahtzee), but we're better than, say, Gametrailers.

Really, moderated is a better word.

Oh piss off. LOL ;)

To argue about the biscuity status of your favorite possibly cookie, possibly cake is a sunken and depraved excuse for spending time.

That is all.
