I don't have any recording equipment (let alone decent recording equipment), but I could go Vocals (tenor) and Clarinet. If you need any of those.

I also play the piano, but I'm not the greatest player.
Clarinet you say? That's awesome! Once I get my violin we might be able to put together something like Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, or possibly the opening of Schubert's 8th symphony. That sounds really cool to me!

If you ever need a tenor sax I'd be glad to contribute to the escapist band!
Consider yourself in. I'm sure we can find something with awesome sax in it!

Note: I've updated the OP to include information about the Escapist Band. I'll continue to modify it as more information becomes available.

We have a musicians group, but not an Escapist Band group.

In terms of organisation, stick a bunch of people together who want to play similar kinds of music. As I said before, who's up for Zombie Metal?

... I don't even know what that genre is...

I'd like to suggest maybe the aforementioned Starlight by Muse, Walk of Life by Dire Straits or maybe November Rain by Guns and Roses (is it obvious I want piano in there somewhere?)

That'd be because I invented it. It's a mixture of jazz and black metal, without bothering to pretend that people can actually understand the lyrics. And every so often saying something coherent.

So I'm guessing you're not suggesting any songs to cover then?

Wait, wait. As in, instrumentally or technically? I'm pretty awed over the concept of syncopated metal with saxophones...

If you want a few, go with Opeth's simpler, quieter stuff. Hours of Wealth, Damnation, that kind of thing. Personally, I'm the sort to hack at something until I feel like I'm getting somewhere and as such leap into creativity first.

How about both? Rocking some Diablo Swing Orchestra.

Sounds good, I'm sure someone will want to join you in that idea. I'm thinking that each little band should have in itself a leader to ensure they stay on track or whatever, although this seems like the kind of project where people would be happily willing to do things for it. I'm still not sure, but it seems that would be the best way to keep things on track. Also the bands shouldn't be static, it'd be fun to play with heaps of different people all of the time.

There's some stuff that I'm going to be thinking about for the next few days. You've also given me some great ideas for my HSC composition.

In better terms: awesome.

Being inspirational is one of the many options which come with your complete[footnote]Non-refundable[/footnote] Tess LaCoil[sub]tm[/sub] package. Others include additional snarkyness, wider vocabulary and Opinion 3.4 add-ons to increase range and vehemence.

well, i think the bands should divid in song stile or type of music, not everyone likes hip hop, nor Metal or something like that so, if we are splitting into multiple bands, a good way is to put people that enjoy the same kind of music (or at least can play that kind of music).

If it is posible, maybe by language??? german guys could make one hell of a Rammstein (i think)

oh, as i have already stated i can only sing, (really really well, depending in my drunkness haha) so may be i will only be hereto check and see how are things going.

Okay I'm going to attempt to lead a cover of Pink Floyd's "Another brick in the wall"

I'd like to handle vocals, so I need the following...

Lead Guitarist
Rhythm Guitarist
Bass Guitarist
Pianist - But on keyboards/synth
Drummer
As many backing singers as possible... Seriously, like 30! The entire second half is sung by what sounds like a whole class of cockney school children... So lets get ethnic!

I'll make a backing track with a click track underneath it, for now, just PM or quote me if you want in. I'm gonna have to go with the best quality overall, sound and abillity, because I want this to be awesome...

- Inverse, you can count me in for the Starlight Vocals, and November Rain if we attempt them...

For everyone else, if you forward me the tracks you want to do, I'll make a guide track for you to administer to your bandmates.
More details to follow...

Rawk on!

Cool, I'll be making the afformentioned guide track later on so watch this space.

If you're gong for lead, just play along to the guide track in the places where the lead plays... (I only want the guitar audio tho, so use headphones to play along with... I'll edit the parts into a master track so go nuts if you want, so long as it's in key and in time...

If you can then email me a wav. file or anything of similar quality. I'll accept mp3 only if it is of high quality with a minimum of 256 Kbps bit rate.

Also, try and video yourself playing the track. Someone else will hopefully use this footage to make a video. Again this needs to be in time, so it's better to film actual takes...

I'll make a guide track within the next 12 hours so PM me your email and i'll send it your way...

I have to agree to this. If we do do this, though, could I suggest having a list of musicians (probably spoilered for size) in the OP as well as what they play, preferred styles etc., as I think this could be easier than having to scan through the thread looking for requests. Although it may become problematic to gather all the informaation.

If you do put that idea through, here's my stats:

[user]Zombie_Fish[/user]:
Instruments:
Drums, Electronic Drums

Genres:
Will play virtually any style, but favourite genres are: Reggae, Rock, Punk/ Ska-Punk, Funk
Oh, and if I can get the right adaptors and my plan works out successfully, I can help you record November Rain and Starlight on my electronic drum kit. I won't use my acoustic one as the sound quality on it would just be far too bad to actually turn out well.

Like I'm saying to Inverse, if I can get the right gear and it all turns out well and sounds good, I can do drums to Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, as the drums are fairly simple. I'll be trying some stuff out in the next few days to see if I can get a recording that sounds good and if I can I'll PM you my email address so that we can sort some stuff out.

I have put a list of who is interested up on the OP with what they play, but genres is a new one to me. It's a good idea if I can get that sort of information out of people.

The following also applies to anyone who is interested in jamming...

Okay guys, I've made a click track to lead you into "another brick in the wall" It'll count you in so it'll be easier to get a co-ordinated start...

The best thing to do is stick it on an ipod then listen to it on headphones whilst recording your parts. This should keep us all on time. I can correct any out of time notes quite easily so don't worry if it is't perfect but try and do the best you can... Don't forget to record yourself visually playing the parts too if possible, I'd like to make this a video too...

Now I won't be using more than two guitars, one bass, and one drums on this, so the best sounding ones will be used. Don't feel bad too bad, I'm willing to produce any number of tracks so i'll make sure all of you get your chance to shine. I'm going to use this track as proof that we can do it. I'd also like to get it submitted into the film festival, so if your interested in video producing give me a holla.

Also, please try and do the backing vocals on another track, they'll all make it onto the record and we need as many as possible... Hell, bring your mates around and do it on the same track if you want...

Same goes for anyone reading this, PM me your email and i'll send you the track...

I'll take anyone whose willing to submit their efforts and i'll let you know if I'm going to use it.

I'll state again...All Backing vocals are welcome, and all will make it onto the record, so If you want to be a part of this, just sing along to the second verse and chorus in a nice London cockney accent (think Sweeny Todd)
Inverse Skies said:
Inverse, I'm more than happy to hear anything you can add to this with your piano, If it sounds good, I'll try and incorporate it. Same goes for any unusual instruments like Sax Clarinet and violins... If it works, great, if not, don't worry we'll do a song with those instruments next.

Also, genre wise for me, I'm not fussy so i'll keep an eye on the thread and nominate myself for doing any songs I'd want to do or are capable of doing... I'm gonna do a guide track for "Starlight" now too.

TO ALL:

If you have a song you want to do, PM me and I'll send you my email to send a track to me. I will make a guide track for you and send it back to you...

NOTE: I know that the long list of quotes is offputting and it shouldn't be done in that way. However, if you quote someone within a spoiler box the message to say they've been quoted doesn't send. It's an interesting glitch, so until it's fixed this is the only way to mass quote someone to bring them into a discussion. Thankyou for your understanding.

Firstly, if I've missed anyone who has posted a video I'm very sorry. I think I've gotten everyone though.

Basically the reason I've mass quoted you is to ask if you would be interested in joining myself and Ravens Nest in the idea of making an Escapist Band. Basically we'd all record our own respective instruments and Raven can mix them all together to make a coherent song out of it. If you don't want too that's fine, but if you're interested that's really cool!

The reason I've done it this way rather than a mass PM is I think this is the sort of thing which requires a lot of discussion, such as who plays what bit, what song we do, how we upload and mix it etc, hence discussing it on here would probably work better than through PM's going everywhere. (Note: If quoting people en mass is the wrong thing to do I apologise but it seemed the most logical step to take with this particular endeavour).

So please let me know your thoughts on this idea and if you're up for it. Hopefully we can actually make it happen, that would be an amazing event to have happen to the Escapist!
Count me in. Ive gotten better since that recording and am getting better at sheet music. Songs to play? Well If i'm right, THe metal gear theme has a nice diversity of instoments. I'm good with anything though. Pm me if you need to.
