X3 reunion

They did the cheap-o "EVE online" trick of conning me into thinking it was exciting/fast-paced/creative/dynamic

I played it for a minute

Then I put it away

Mine had to be halfway through the first level of Stranglehold, a man can only take so much slo-mo diving before realising just how shit it makes the game, which without using the slow-motion moves wasnt great to begin with.

I played the demo for WET.

FORCED myself to the end (I should at least be able to get through the demo, no matter what the game, right?) and nearly hung myself.

How anyone could like that game is beyond my comprehension. I get it's supposed to be stupid fun, BUT ITS NOT EVEN FUCKING FUN!

i really should have read a review, but i just assumed... you know. i mean, it's fucking ratchet and clank, how could they make a bad game?

This is for a game you actually bought/rented/played, not one you saw the ads for and dismissed. What was the fastest you realized the game was bad or not worth your time? What game was it and why did it fail your expectations? Try to be specific as to what didn't work.

Mine was 5 minutes with Jade Cocoon 2. It had none of the deep story elements of the first game, and it was chock full of cliches.

Your turn.
Good to know. I was planning on buying Jade Cocoon 2, but now I guess i'll try getting it for cheap. and for me it was Predator: Concrete Jungle. I did about 8 missions into the game and then realized "this is just shit".
It's a shame, the concept was great and I was looking forward to chasing Danny glover through an urban setting. Oh well, at least it only cost me $5
Jade Cocoon 2 is 1 completely inverted. The sad thing is I bought it at full price. One of my friends was there at the unveiling of the new game and was willing to trade me Ico for it because he had beat Ico and thought he could put up with the cliches and cheerleading girls in 2.

Thanks for the heads up on Predator: Concrete Jungle.

Beijing 2008. They advertised that it was a revamped track & field game...which was a complete lie and I traded that in for ODST of all things.

Conduit is a close second, also traded in towards ODST.

I initially hated the opening hour or so of Zelda: A Link to The Past. I seriously considered bringing it back for a trade-in. Then I played the next hour; that changed things for me.

Braveheart, the PC strategy game.

Took me about 3 minutes to realize everything but the soundtrack sucked majorly. And I later found out, that the soundtrack was imported directly from the movie....
That's kind of funny, in a painful sort of way. Kudos on the 3 minute mark though!

Fallout 3. Couldn't play the game for more than 10 minutes.
I don't know why this game got so many good reviews. Its shite.
Lacks atmosphere, like oblivion, but dead from the start, whereas oblivion took me a few days to hate.
Its nothing compared to fallout 2.
Bethesda shouldn't continue producing this sort of shit. Darkness isn't their thing.
The voice actors and audio producers they hire aren't cut out for the job, very poor choice.
I will have to say, if you don't like Oblivion for game play you probably won't like Fallout and vice versa, that much is true. But I don't think all the voice actors are bad in Oblivion-just that there are way to few and after awhile they forget who they are portraying so you get beggars that go from scratchy voices to noble ones between each sentence. My favorite one is the one that sounds like Sean Connery! I can't help but laugh when I hear that voice coming out of a beggar! Of course, I can't buy that the character is needy at that point either.

But the characters are far, FAR less stiff than the ones from Dark Cloud and even City of Heroes. The details are far better for me. But you don't have to like it. Perhaps Thief 4 or the most recent Tenchu: Stealth Assassins will do better for you.

And how does ODST compare to the other Halo games btw?

The other horrible game I remember hating within 5-7 minutes was "Die Hard" for Nintendo. What was really sad is that I was stuck with it. It is welcome to shake hands with the E.T. game.

I know I'll regret saying this about something so popular, but I absolutely hated Gears of War. I started up the game and followed the tutorial. After five- no, ten minutes, I popped the disk out of my console, placed it back in the bag, and returned it. The controls were so damn clunky.

1 hour with Crysis. Was too entranced by the pretty of the island to realize it was a bland story, cookie cutter gameplay and pretty terrible AI.
