I used to love JRPGs, but I recently realised...they were all gameboy ones (NES remakes count) Dragon Warrior 3, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Crystalis, and a few other lesser known games. I even played FF1 remake, though hated it since I ended up at a point that ruined the game. (No way out of losing, games shouldnt do that unless they have tons of saves like TES)

Lost Odyssey, really dug the story line and all those little stories you unlock. Very well made game, awesome soundtrack to.

In English- Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne
In Japanese- Tales of Destiny Remake: Directors Cut

Also I completely forgot that Barkley's Shut up and Jam: Gaiden exists, might have to go play that tonight

Probably FF7. I got about half way through FF8 when I decided I had lost interest in the JRPG genre - a hint might have been I rented FF8 instead of buying it...

I think probably Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant. I've played Final Fantasy XII and Lost Odyssey since, but got bored with both of them. I might go back to Lost Odyssey, since I'm on the final disc. I also recently got Shadow Hearts 3: From the New World. It's alright, but not a patch on Covenant.

Why did I like Covenant so much? Well, it didn't take itself too seriously, and made me laugh on many occasions. The game world was interesting and well thought out, and I liked the alternative history WWI idea for it. The fight mechanics were good, the judgement ring kept you interested when going through fight after fight. I would've loved to have seen what Shadow Hearts' developers could have done if they were given the same resources as Final Fantasy is; although I suppose since a lot of the developers ended up working on Lost Odyssey, I've partially got my answer.

I usually like Jrpgs, but when they have and actually good story and gameplay, and not just an excuse to gather the yaoi fangirls. That would only work if you wanted to gather them so you could welcome them with a shotgun.

Anyway, for me it would be Suikoden Tierkreis for the DS. The ending was kind of "small" compared to the rest of the events on the story, but I guess it was because I didn't gather all the characters available and that would open a "good ending" or something, I dunno.

The World Ends With You was my favourite DS game
I put over 120 hours in it!
I couldn't stand the music for like 20 minutes, and my pins got mixed up every time i used them, so I just put it down.

My friend convinced me to play Pokemon Platinum for nostalgia's sake and I'm at least enjoying it, but it isn't the best jrpg out there...

My all-time favorite is Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones for GBA.
Most recent would have to be either the kingdom hearts games or FFX, while FFXII wasn't as good imo, at least it tried something a little different from push button and watch enemy die
EDIT: Oh yea and i forgot Persona 3, never tried Persona 4 (at least not yet)

I've yet to play one I actually disliked. Therefore...

Tales of (Symphonia/Abyss/Symphonia:Knight of Ratatosk).
Baten Kaitos (plus Origins)
Final Fantasy VI
Dragon Warrior Monsters
Kingdom Hearts

Favorite of all those is probably Tales of Symphonia. Then a tie between the Baten Kaitos games (original for the story, sequel for the gameplay).

I actually own Final Fantasy X and Skies of Arcadia, but I've yet to play them. And I keep seeing recommendations for others (Persona and Suikoden, specifically). And Disgaea, if Tactical RPGs count.
