Name: Kalley Ashford

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Nationality: Hipereon/Sky Pirate Mercenary

Faith: Anti-theistic

Magic: Class E Elementalist

Abilities / Talents: While she has a low magical aptitude she has mastered a difficult tome that allows the user to generate heat equivalent to that made by an arc welder with her hand, she uses this to conduct repairs in the field that would normally need to be done in a work shop and uses it that much that she has committed the incantation to memory (She still requires the tome but can resite it quite quickly). This supports her high technical aptitude and allows her to create new inventions and tinker quite easily, as well as be an effective field mechanic.

Weapons:

The standard sidearm of the Hipereon enlisted soldiers, modified with a more ergonomic handle and to fire .44 cal rounds. Kalley isn't a fighter so the weapon rarely gets used; it's more of a remanent of her days in the Hipereon High Guard.

Armor: None

Equipment:

On top of her specialised magical ability she carries a high quality multi tool given to her by her father when she was conscripted as a mechanical apprentice. It hangs from a hook on her belt.

Kalley carries a tome with the incantations for an array of fire spells. She can use a few of them but casting them drains her very quickly. However, she is able to cast one of the more powerful ones that produces a lot of concentrated heat through her hands which almost turns her into a walking forge.

She carries a normal smithing hammer for emergency repairs

Kalley would sometimes work on the Barro-cycles for the Hipereon military. Over the course of her tour of service she collected parts of decommissioned cycles. Once she had enough scrap and parts she built her own vehicle which she uses to get around the sky ports and tinkers with when she needs an anchor. She has named "him" Axel" and has been known to anthropomorphise "him" to the point that some of her companions think she gave it a machine soul.

Appearance: Kalley has short red hair, green eyes and a fair complexion. She is 5' 6? tall and has a light build. She is normally seen wearing a beige overall with the top half hanging off a belt around her waist and a white blouse with the sleeves rolled up, normally covered with spots of engine grease and ash. Her hammer, multi tool and a set of leather forging gloves hang off her left hip and a small zip bag full of small common spare parts and a pouch for her tome on her right. Her pistol is in a leather holster strapped to her left leg. On her head she has a set of biker's goggles, these have a set of flip-down covers so she can weld. She always wears a pair of riding boots with buckles that go all the way up. When she goes out on her chopper she wears a brown leather trench coat, a cream scarf and black leather pants. The coat has a corprals insignia on the left arm and the engineering corps' insignia on the right.

Personality: Kalley spends most of her free time sleeping in a hammock hanging above her workbench; she comes across as lazy and aloof, but wave anything as small as a broken watch and she will jump at the chance to fix it. Her time with the Hipereon military has left her cynical and she is quick to dismiss those who disagree with her. No one can enter her workshop that she doesn't want to enter as she has set a myriad of traps to take care of encroachers.

Bio: Kalley Ashford was born to a farmer family in the Northern Provence of the Hipereon Empire. Her homestead was close to a military scrapyard and as a child she would often sneak away and play in there; much to the dismay of her parents. She noticed how her family toiled in the farms and eventually decided to craft machinery to help them out. At first they were stupid little contraptions that were composed on a mess of cogs and pipes that simply happened to fit together. However as she continued to rip apart old machines she gained a working knowledge. When she was twelve she built a rudimentary tractor, reducing the cost of feeding work horses. After this she started her making her own designs, but found that she lacked the required equipment, so she learned a powerful tome. Many unintentional explosions and lost hair later she perfected the spell's incantation and essentially had arc welder hands. At fourteen she completed an ?auto harvester? that would attach to the back of the now heavily modified tractor, reducing the amount of man hours to harvest a field and allowing her family to expand their farm.

Their land lord, impressed, used them as an example for the other tenants of his holds. When a certain noble general was touring the Ashfords farm he noticed the equipment used decommissioned military spare parts. The family was arrested for theft of state property. When they found out that the inventor was a fourteen year old girl a general in the High Guard offered her family freedom in exchange for custody of Kalley, who explained that she would be apprenticed to one of the best Mechans in Lightwatch. The parting was bitter sweet; Kalley loved the idea of mastering her trade but hated leaving her family

She apprenticed under him for four years, during which time she improved her forging. After that time she was conscripted; working as part of the engineering corps in the High Guard. She had no emotions on this, to her it was just another place to practice her trade. As the Republic began their initial campaign against the Hipereon boarder she was assigned to the recovery effort and AA defence. As her rank steadily increased she found meaning in her service, but also had increasing contact with the higher echelons of the military. She became disillusioned as the royalists make it more and more difficult to source supplies for repairs, all the while her comrades were getting killed because the defence cannons weren't able to get the correct spare parts.

During this time she considered the subtext of the conflict; that she and her friends were pawns in this game that the gods were playing. She began to question the laws preventing the modification of the Heaven Schematics and had engaged in long arguments with her superiors about conducting experiments to find out why the Steam Men could only be safely constructed based on the Schematics. Her direct superiors put up with this until a theoretical schematic of a Combat Steam Man that she had designed was discovered. She was arrested and to be put on trial for violating the Heaven Schematics. As she was about to be carted away she managed to disassemble the lock and open the cell. She then made her way back to the base, collected her gear and left. There is a moderate bounty on her head.

She made her way to an airport where she came across Rez Tereth. She noticed his weapon had some structural damage and asked if she could fix it in exchange for some money. After a lot of convincing she did so right there on the spot. Tereth, impressed, gave Kalley the money and offered her a position aboard his ship, the proposition taking an equal amount of effort on Tereth's part.

Upon finding out he was an ex-royalist (after she asked "why do they call him Duke?") Kalley developed no small amount of mistrust towards the Tereth, unsure as to whether or not he was just an over pampered royalist playing pirate or was simply a man born out of his element and found it later in life. While she doubts his motivations, she doesn't doubt his abilities and follows orders without question.

When she was introduced to Marc she noticed the coldness beneath his eyes instantly, it was the same coldness that she had begun to feel and she hadn't seen a tenth of what he'd seen. She sensed this, but she never spoke of it, rather used him as an inspiration. She was determined not to become like him, though she didn't think any less of him for being the way he is.

Evangeline greeted her warmly and subsequently seemed to have made it her sole mission in life to protect Kalley from everything. This act occasionally annoys the hell out of Kalley, but she tolerates as she feels it comes from a genuine place. Kalley also enjoys explaining her creations to Evangeline, even though she's not completely sure if Evangeline understands it all.

Finally Zeke, the wise cracking ace pilot who can't hold his own in a fist fight. Zeke has been quite kind to Kalley and has occasionally got her to enjoy something aside from ripping apart machines. More than once they've been the last one's up; Kalley droning on drunkenly about a new contraption or her personal war against the gods, often incoherently, whilst he listens intently. She often berates him by calling him a fool, though normally while laughing.

The main thing I changed was the fact that she has to use a tome now; I was considering it and there were a few situations that might arise that would mean the issue was instantly solved ("Oh we're in prison, I'll just melt the bars off!"), and added some mention to the other Sky Pirates.

so; @Viking, @Athol, @Fishtie, @Dogmatic99, We good? You think I got the character dynamics down?

@TigerSora

Hey, I was thinking of doing a character who's a refugee from Ashhelm, that moved to one of the other nations. Would that be okay?

Name: Judas Mortimer
Age: 35
Gender: male

Nationality: Thund

Faith: Non Follower

Magic: Dark

Abilities / Talents: Trained himself to use muskets in one hand, as he lost an arm in the war. He is a veteran, and can drive aerial and land based vehicles, is able to sew clothes with one hand, as he has to modify all his jackets.

Weapons: A modified Hot Boy Musket, named so because it doesn't propel bullets by explosion but by steam pressure. Is famous for first degree burns inflicted on careless users, modified to lead the light from the heat source to an L.O.S.T.

Armor: Standard issue jacket given to high ranking officers, offers little protection, but medals worn in front of the heart are bulletproof. One sleeve is cut off, he doesn't need it anymore.

Equipment: Light Optimised Spectacle Trinket, or LOST. Works like a red dot, but only works with a lightsource nearby.

Appearance: 1.8 meters tall, average light brown hair to the length of his eyebrows, and his neck on the backside. Eyes always appear to look through the person he's watching, like he's not quite there.

Personality: Traumatized to a certain degree, strongly believes that supressing his emotions helps, doesn't talk much. Mostly uses words with 3 syllables or less.

Bio: Judas Mortimer was not particularly good with brains or brawn, but forced his way through the ranks on discipline alone.
During a particular assault, he managed to dig a tunnel to an enemy trench, and took out 5 enemies before he got stabbed with a machete, presumed dead. Though he survived the encounter thanks to a merciful republican doctor, he had to amputate his right arm due to infection. However, when he returned to base, he was incarcerated for treachery, and sentenced to execution. But the law in Thund states that a death penalty is considered done when the bullets hits the criminal, not when they die. Judas survived the execution, and was considered a free man, albeit exiled from his country. He now roams Hipereon, looking for someone to give him the orders his own country refuses to give.

I'm really excited for this, and hope my character doesn't break any technical rules.

Edit: Terrible, terrible mistakes in my grammar. I'm sowwy. :(

How about playing a steam-man? Or a steam-"cyborg" ?
No. Technology isn't that advanced.

Athol said:
Rejected. For two reasons. One Ashhelm no longer exists. It was the first empire to be shattered. Glorinst is now the ruling county of their former land and unless you're going to be a Sky Pirate, (Who can be from any nation). You need to be one of the 3 nations in the character sheet.
What about a Steam Mech Exoskeleton?

Jezz, we've got a whole lot of freakin' pirates. Viking, you've established yourself quite a team lol. BTW Tiger, I haven't been ignoring this thread, I just haven't had any worth while input. I would jump on the team crafting band-wagon, but it wouldn't really make sense for a 19 year old to have many prior connections. This post is just a reaffirm my interest, more or less.

Name: Zavier Gavin Martres

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Nationality: Uleth

Faith: Dark

Magic: Dark

Skills: Tactician, Some minor engineering skills, duelist, gunner (pistols mainly), D class magician, trader, wordsmith.

Equipment: Steel Saber, offhand dagger, revolver, several boxes of ammunition.

Armor: Leather armor lightly reinforced with steel backing.

Personality: Callous, cynical, and in no small part arrogant. Zavier cares little for people save how they can be made useful for his own ends. He is quite intelligent and constantly suspicious of people.

Appearance: Something like this with less ridiculous facial hair.

Bio: No one really knows where Zavier came from. He was eight years old when he showed up in the Uleth capital. The young boy gravitated toward the darker parts of the city. Even at his age, he quickly found employment with one of the local criminal rackets as a runner, gofer, and any other cheap job. Zavier learned to be quick and think on his feet, he also learned to be ruthless and remorseless.

The gang quickly realized that they found something special in the young boy, and by age nine, Zavier was running into republic-occupied territory for some of the gang's riskier work. Zavier rapidly learned the trade and was conning marks and robbing business partners with great success. The gang's leader, Daiven Arios, saw great potential in the young man, and took the boy directly under his wing. Under the crime lord's tutelage, Zavier flourished, learning how to fight, how to act like a member of High Society, how to manage money and keep subordinates in line, even some of the ways of magic. The young boy took these lessons to heart and used them with great effect for the gang's benefit, however, training young Zavier turned out to be Daiven's greatest mistake. At age 16 the boy sold his master out to one of his chief rivals.

With his master dead, Zavier was alone and free to pursue his own life. He spent the next nine years cultivating a reputation as a cold-blooded killer and mercenary. As the war heated up, Zavier took the opportunity to sell his services to the government. The work was dangerous, but paid well and, more importantly, kept the authorities off his trail. So long as Zavier continued to be useful, he had a carte blanche to operate as he pleased. Among the Uleth court and the criminal understreets alike, rumors of the mysterious and effective killer persist.

Ok, bit of an update on my character here. Wilcoblackflame have agreed to give our characters a prior connection. It's now all in the bio. I also decided to add a *slight* thing on intolerance of pirates and lawbreakers in the personality section. Might make things a tad more intersting. Also, added a waistcoat to the outfit, which I missed previously.

Name: Tostundir Axela

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Nationality: Hipereon

Faith: Respects the Gods, but does not "follow" any, per se.

Magic: None

Abilities / Talents: Tostundir specialises in inventing and tinkering, which sometimes results in a better system than before. Sometimes. He also knows how to fly a plane and do metalwork and other assorted types of crafting (though he denies knowing how to knit), but he usually leaves it to the mechan experts who are far better at it than he is, unless he needs something very specific. An intelligent fellow, he can usually deduce how to get anything to work, given some time alone to concentrate on it. Apart from bikes. He never could work out how to steer those bloody things. And after that attempt, well, he doesn't really want to try again...

Weapons: He carries a flintlock pistol, as well as Opal, his cane (spring-loaded with a 10cm blade that is released by twisting the spherical handle. The blade must be pushed back in again and the handle twisted back to stow the blade again. Opal is wooden but has a steel core for blocking sword blows).
He also uses a personally designed wrist-mounted 20cm long ballista, with metal framework.

The ballista section (mounted under his right wrist) can be removed from the wrist-mount and put in a coat pocket for convenience. The mechanism is tightened by winding the crank (which can be folded away). It is then released by pulling on the looped piece of string (which would normally be put on a finger, so that pulling his hand back is all that is required to fire). He prefers it to using pistols as it is more accurate. He only usually carries six shots with it, though, which he stores in his coat.
Additionally, he has a hydraulic strength assistor on his left arm, which, when activated, can straighten or bend his arm with more power than normal. However, it only has a small tank of pressurised steam to work with, so it doesn't take long to run out of juice, so to speak. It also malfunctions quite a lot.

Armour: Not much to speak of - in combat, he has a leather chestpiece under his normal clothes, and his boots have metal plates in certain places as well, but besides that he relies on his ability to block with Opal or dodge entirely.

Equipment: A modified top hat with a deployable eye-piece (for the left eye). Acts as a monocular (I think that's what they're called...) with 6x magnification.

Appearance:
Short brown hair, around 6'2". Wears a brown coat (think David Tennant Dr Who, Mal Reynolds from Firefly, etc) with dark red trousers (I suppose you Americans would say "pants") and a navy blue shirt underneath a black waistcoat, with knee-high dark leather boots and the aforementioned black top hat. He wears the leather wrist-mount over his coat, as well as black leather gloves.

Personality: Tostundir appreciates being a Royalist, and enjoys all of the perks it gives him, as he is well-trained in recreational plane flying and horse-riding, and always tries to be polite (especially to women, as a true gentleman of his stature should be). He has little sympathy for pirates and other lawbreakers as he has led a shielded life, often not realising the corruption of his Royalist peers.

Bio: Born to a Royalist family, Tostundir always showed excellent intelligence, but never really bothered to put it to use until he discovered the power that invention and creation provided him with. Once this idea had set in, he visited the mechan of his home city, Lightwatch, more and more frequently, befriending a particular man, Rednor, and effectively becoming his apprentice.
Funds were not a problem, as his parents saw the passion he had for invention and construction, and they permitted him to follow his dreams, on the condition that he continue with his other commitments to high society, which he now did with relish, knowing that he did it all to earn the right to build.

After his schooling had finished, he decided to work with Rednor for a few years before becoming a full-time inventor, selling his inventions to the government and companies, but all this changed one night when a freak bombing raid from the republic killed Rednor and levelled his workshop, only a few days after Tostundir had started to truly work with him. Distraught at his mentor's death, Tostundir tried to move his plans ahead a few years by inventing from his home, but whenever he sat down to think of ideas, all he could think of was the bomb that killed Rednor, and the plane that dropped it, driving him to build tools for personal defence and eventually leading to his enlistment in the army as a low-ranking officer. It was here that he met Olicia LeMuire during her time in the infantry, where they found that they had common interests and confided in one another.

After a few years of fighting (and a couple of promotions), he eventually suffered a bullet-wound to his thigh that was severe enough to put him out of duty for some time, during which he realised that his place was not in the trenches. With a clear head and his desire to avenge Rednor sated, he told Olicia that he would settle down to a quiet life of inventing, helping the war-effort in that way instead (a few of his fighter designs are being tested at the moment). Olivia then contacted him some time later, telling him that she was at a loss for what to do as she, too, had left the military. After catching up, he took her on as an airship (and general air vehicle) design advisor.

Despite his efforts of inventing from his peaceful home, he still feels guilty for leaving the war, especially as Tibarn is now close to being under siege. Still, when he left the army, he made sure it was known that he would be willing to rejoin if he was needed.

I've also updated the previous version (in post 55).

Good news everyone! Your all in, (some with conditions). Ya it's a lot of people, but it's a big world.

With so many I'm going to have it more open, string us along a plot but allow us to smell the flowers and such on the way. Should work well, and it's hard to force feed you all.

I've only excepted Ivan. I feel your other guy is just to good.

I don't believe anyone else rolled more than one character, because with this many people. One is enough. If you did, chose one

Now that thats done. Lay down some ground rules.

- I am the law. I have final say in anything should I feel so.
- No god modding, standard procedure.
- Grammar. Capitalize, spellcheck. I won't have sloppy posts.
- I do hold commissarial powers and will kill you if you abuse the rules, are ruining the game and such other offenses.
- You do have the right to ONE attempt to defend your position and or edit your post. Second offense is summary execution and removal of your corpse from the RP.
- Two line post minimum. Try to fill it out, toss some glitter on. Do what needs to be done to get there. Larger, four line posts are better, but sometimes theres just not much to say.
- If your unsure on something, please pm me. I'll be glad to make up an answer on the spot.
- Fluff creation is allowed, within reason. Don't go setting state policies or something like that. Just think on it abit, you'll probably figure out if it's reasonable. Or just ask.
- New rules may be set in place and old ones removed. Lets just hope we won't need to do that.

We hopefully will start tomorrow. I am in college now so it's slowing me down, alot.
My character will also be coming alive tomorrow.
Than we can get this thing under way!
