I was told that clouds were made at the local Paper Mill.

Edit: From the smokestacks, not like in the Paper Mill, haha. Basically I thought it was the factory that made clouds.

My Mom always told me she was allergic to cats when I told her I wanted one. Turns out she just didn't like them.

That the sky is blue cuz it reflects off the ocean. Then why's the ocean blue? ALL LOGIC FAILS FROM THAT POINT.
I thought it was that the ocean was blue because it was reflecting the sky, and the sky was blue because the water in the air was reflecting the blue rays of sunlight?
Yea water is clear, and water is darker at night cause there is no sky reflect off.
"The blue color is caused by selective absorption and scattering of the light spectrum." says Wikipedia, which is pretty much what I thought.

The colour of the sky is due to scattering of shorter wavelengths from oxygen and nitrogen molecules, visible mostly at an angle from the direct path to the Sun. As the Sun sets, its light passes through a greater distance of atmosphere, so more blue wavelengths are deflected before the light reaches you, leading to a orange sunset. More particles in the atmosphere give a redder sunset, and different molecules can tint the light in other ways.

"Don't sit so close to the TV, your eyes will become square-shaped"
"If you don't eat your fish, your eyes will pop out"

My parents went for the eyes...

I tried to think of one, but I don't really think my parents lied to me. (that I can recall, at least)

No Santa Claus for me, and I turned out just fine.

The tooth lawyer. My mom told me that when I lost a tooth I would put it under my pillow and the dental unions lawyer would sneak into my room and bribe me and steal the evidence so I would not sue for losing teeth.

I have strange parents.
What? Thats a bit strange.

Santa, easter bunny, the tooth fairy, although I kept up the tooth fairy one for the money lol.
They also used to threaten me with "if you're bad we'll send you to the naughty girls school"
A funny one my mums cousin used to tell her was that fruit cake or any cake with little bits in was Dead fly pie. Still find that funny

My sister was readin 'The Subtle Knife' and I said 'What does that mean?,' referring to the word 'subtle'. She mistook me, and thought I meant the actual knife from the book. 'It means it can cut through anything,' she replied.
For the next 4 years, I thought something that was subtle meant it could go through anything. I guess ghosts ARE subtle, but not in the way I thought.

On reflection, this isn't really a lie, as a lie is only something that the teller knows not to be true. My sister was correct: the knife can cut through anything, so she wasn't lying - I just misunderstood. Ah well.

Its the oppisetn, the ocean is blue cause it reflects the sky, and the sky is blue cause something in the atmoshpere lets more blue light to come in then other lights. [or something like that]

I never understood the point of Santa. Why tell your kids a lie then just tell them it was fake after years of them getting hopeful?
So you can laught at them =D

I actually like Brussels Sprouts, so it's not quite a lie. I hate beets though. Nature's candy my ass.

Cheese gave you nightmares... Was anyone else told this? and is it actually true?

Also, eating pickles before bed makes you dream apparently.

I was told Hitler killing the Jews started WWI and Saddam Hussein dumping oil in the ocean and killing fish started WWII... My mom also told me that in the 70's running water was rare, and that television was a new and innovative concept, and that most places only had 5 channels.

Let's just say I spent a large portion of my childhood not knowing anything about the world before the late 80's.
