Was at a careers fair at uni, asked for an employers stance on disability, and was told I'd be less use than a dog to them, no-one's going to hire me and the best thing I could do is kill myself so I'm not a burden on the state anymore.

Stay classy Thames Valley Police.

Ahahaha, epic. I hope you kept at her though, she sounds like a keeper!

I think the most crushing thing I've had said to me is when a girl told me _after_ she had moved away that she had really wanted to ask me out but thought I wasn't interested and would have stayed had we become serious... even though I'd been crazy about her for ages but had refrained from saying anything because I didn't want to lose the friendship we'd built up. Friendzoning - it works both ways, people!

Even by Thames Valley Police standard thats a particularly evil point of view! I know they like to narrow the potential candidates down early on but thats insane.

Being called into the administrator's office after working at a place for three years (she'd been there three weeks) and being asked, "What are you doing here?" before being told that my efforts were pointless and I should find a place where I wouldn't "get in the way".

Thank you so very much, you cold hearted wretch.

Oh geez, so much sadness here... Let me add some to the soup!

I can remember a couple of things though it won't be a surprise to anyone.

"I don't love you anymore." - my first and only girlfriend so far, breaking up with me.
"I'm seeing someone." - my last crush wanting a shoulder to share his doubts about his new relationship.
"You should be out there kissing everyone." - my mom belittling my old fashion way of reserving myself to someone special instead of treat people more as objects... seriously, wth mom?! Ok, perhaps she wasn't expressing as that but that's toatlly how I got the ideia.

Fuck....as I'm disabled I've heard some things, but never anything like that.

OT: I suppose when a doctor told me the condition of my legs was not going to get better, (this was after painful surgery and months of recovery time) I'm not sure if that's the MOST crushing thing but it was the only one that brought me almost instantly to tears so...yeah I'm going with that one

Is it bad that every time I try to think of the most crushing thing said to me in my life it seems to be... blocked? Not there? Missing?
Im usually shrug most of the real nasty ones off so I cant really recall them word for word.

From what I've learned, she sleeped around and cheated mulitple times. It didn't take her long to find a new boyfriend. (She does have big boobs which makes her a guy magnet).

So, in retrospect, I'm glad it's only a hit to my ego and not something like "Oh hey, I've cheated you with 5 guys and I loved every seconds of it".

I would've just spat on them.

OT: Hearing that your mother is no longer alive physically knocks the wind out of you and makes you light headed, it's insane how hearing words can punch you.

(sorry to continue on with the very depressing theme of this thread)

If I started to write down all the crushing things people have ever said to me, I could probably get it published afterwards. I'm not joking about that, I'm serious.

I'm only 21 and I'm pretty sure that if most people had to deal with all the shit I dealt with growing up (not with family or money, but with school and dealing with people), they would have probably killed themselves or gone on a rampage.

I was always treated as an outsider by most kids even when I was very little, and I was treated as though I was some sort of monster. I was always nice to people but wasn't treated the same way. I was pretty treated like that until maybe when I entered High school.

But I think that the most crushing thing was ever said to me was when I was almost on the verge of killing myself, but thankfully my mom helped me through those times.

What was said to me was "You'll never have any friends, because you're the most hated person here, and if you killed yourself it would make everyone including your family happy that you were gone."

*sighs*
Now I feel like I want a drink.

There is a long story behind this one, so don't judge me too harshly. I'm pretty sure I've said the most crushing thing I've ever heard...

I was in a long term relationship with a very depressed girl. I needed to abort, eject, run away because I just couldn't take it any more. I was living with her and her parents who had all kinds of problems of there own and the accumulation of all the hate, sadness and despair made me feel like I was going to die unless I got out. So in the moment where all tact had abandoned me and I had to say something to convince her that I really didnt/couldn't love her anymore (because she couldn't just take honesty for an answer)... I uttered the immortal phrase...

"well I think I would probably still love you if you weren't fat"

Yeah I know... No one feels worse than she did, but I'm a close second. After we broke up I heard she became anorexic...

Ever since that moment I have had the up most respect and consideration for the things I say....thankfully, she pulled through and went on to become much happier.

"This is why people don't like you." Said to me by a couple of kids during grade school. I honestly believed them because even if I did have a handful of friends, I'd hate to know that I'm just going to drive them away too.

Well. One day my parents told me Mum had cancer. It turned out it wasn't too serious and she's fine now, but at the time I was 13 and I was so fucking scared. In school the day after that, some bloke kept making 'your mum' jokes. I kept saying to him to stop, and in the end I get so wound up that I threw the table over and halfway across the room in my hurry to just get out.

And a more recent one. I recently got accused of being a player, which is kinda hilarious because I haven't gotten laid in ages, but also hurtful because I was genuinely trying to help someone out and they fucking threw it in my face. Plus I really detest cheating so the last thing I would want to be is a player. Basically, I was just being sympathetic toward someone who's life has been a bit crap. And I met one of her friends and got on with her, really quite well. But then the one I was being sympathetic towards (who has a boyfriend) got all jealous because I'm interested in her friend and has had a massive go at us both. As though I'm planning to steal her friend away or something? I don't understand what the hell I did wrong. Eh. You can't win.

"You're lazy."

Yeah, not -that- bad...but considering it's been said for about the first 23 years of my life, when it wasn't even true...

Diagnosed with ADD a couple of months back, soooo less "lazy" thanks to some ritalin now, but still...it did hurt.

I was doing the OCR Nationals in ICT, which is basically a GCSE that counts as 4. We do nothing but coursework base don a certian goal for the whole time.

With about two weeks left, we were working into study leave. About half the class had finished. Those who didn't, gave up. Only me and one of my friends bothered showing up to do work. And he was only there because he was forced to by his parents. He spent all his time there secretly playing Cave story. I did about two periods of work before deciding to give it a rest, knowing I had ample time to finish so didn't need to rush.

My teacher didn't have any problem with the idea of leaving, but felt the need to stop me to aks when I'll be done. I told him I'd be done on time, but he got angry since I couldn't state a specfic day. Not only give he give me a lecture about how I'd never be able to get a career due to lack of scheduling skills, he moved my deadline up a week, just for me, and I think he mentioned how I'm just making it hard for them to mark it if I do it jsut before the final deadline. Marking takes about 10 minutes. No one else was showing up, so there isn't even a line for it. Why make a deadline if the deadline isn't good enough?

I made it to the car before I burst into tears. I later finished it before that new deadline without any trouble or rushing. He calmly marked it and let me go.

Later, everyone came back for their final grade. My teacher didn't even care when people who gave up and refused to come in to do work showed up. They got no hassle, but me, someone who bothered, the only one actually there by choice, got yelled at.
