I wouldn't really consider them to be "underrated." They played Roskilde this year, so they must be at least sort of popular.Cuddly Knife said:Only one mention for Gojira in 4 pages? Wow. Come on, people.
Uhhh, yeah.. that's not what Death Metal is, man. By that logic every metal band is a Death Metal band because every metal band has sung about death.DoomyMcDoom said:I don't give a crap if someone is "Harder" I mean songs like "Blood of the scribe" "Break You" "Laid to Rest" in my opinion if you're a metal band singing(if you can call it that) about death you're a death metal band or you're a metal band that's made a death metal album...Nigh Invulnerable said:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Correct on both accounts, DevilDriver are hugely under appreciated.WrongSprite said:Devildriver.
Can I just reply to the people who said Opeth?
Ok.
Opeth are FREAKING HUGE.
I know man, I've been listening to it all morning.Wizzie said:Correct on both accounts, DevilDriver are hugely under appreciated.WrongSprite said:Devildriver.

Pray for Villains is a phenomenal album, I hope it picks up.
Crikey you're quick!WrongSprite said:I know man, I've been listening to it all morning.
Heaven and hell are black sabbath without ozzy ,they can`t use the sabbath name because of a legal battle over the brand name ,so they are most definatly not overatedAgentNein said:I just have to put it right out there, I don't like 99% of metal. With that said, I love Motorhead and recently I've discovered Heaven & Hell, who are fantastic. Dig that sort of crazy-epic stuff. Are they underrated? I'm not sure.
Just thought I'd add my outsider perspective.

I use a programme called Spotify, they've had it on there for a couple of days so I've been listening too it since.
It's brilliant, I've been Sober blows my mind.
Underrated? A7X are an enourmous band.rockingnic said:Avenged Sevenfold. They have "Almost Easy", "Critical Acclaim", "Afterlife", "Little Piece of Heaven", "Scream", "M.I.A.", "Betrayed", "Beast and the Harlot", "Strength of the World", "Lost", "The Wicked End", "Thrashed and Scattered", "Bat Country", "Burn it Down", "Sidewinder", "Brompton Cocktail", "Blinded in Chains" and that's only in 2 albums ("Avenged Sevenfold" and "City of Evil"). Then I would say Dream Theater.![]()

Lamb of God are Groove Metal. Death Metal is stuff like Morbid Angel, Entombed, Monstrosity, Nile, Vader, and Deicide. Please get your terminology right.

Actually a lot of people consider dream theater to be prog where it`s all about the artistic wankeryWhistler777 said:You've got to be joking. Not only are DT one of the most overrated bands in the history of music, but their pretentious tendencies toward being "progressive" continue to obfuscate the fact that they're just another shitty metal band with clean vocals. What exactly makes people believe they are so special?Dream Theater
"Hurr hurr, their drummer uses a double-bass pedal, and I can hear the bass guitar over the rest of the track. They're so unique and talented!"
Sorry to sound like a troll, but this is really an issue on the internet, where people can be seen tonguing James Labrie's balls all the way from here to 4chan.
Thank you. Music nerds unite! Death Metal has nothing to do with being "harder" as Doomy put it, but more to do with the specific style of playing. Chris Adler and co. generally do not play the same style as most death metal bands. It's just a tag for lazy people to use for simplicity. The Jackyl said:Uhhh, yeah.. that's not what Death Metal is, man. Really, I was mostly laughing at your choice of calling them underrated. They've gotten Album of the Year awards from metal magazines (such as Revolver, though I wouldn't really consider that much of an achievement), have sold quite a few albums, and have headlined tours. Also, I dispute your claim of 'death metal' in reference to LoG, but it's no big deal.DoomyMcDoom said:Aight fair enough, least you didn't phrase your statement in an insulting manner unlike mister Nigh invulnerable up there. The Jackyl said:Uhhh, yeah.. that's not what Death Metal is, man. I will agree they aren't a death metal band. but i will say some of their tracks have a pretty strong death metal feel... but bleh tired of arguing... anyhow I like pretty much all metal. so i guess it doesn't matter in the big picture.
