I wouldn't really consider them to be "underrated." They played Roskilde this year, so they must be at least sort of popular.

That said, they are very good. From Mars to Sirius is pure win.

if you're looking for metal in general... well I know an awesome Death metal band... Lamb Of God. if you don't know them then you aint into the harder end of metal...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Death Metal? Lamb of God? Wash your mouth out with soap. While LoG sometimes gets labeled as such, I'd hardly consider their style that much aligned with traditional Death Metal like Morbid Angel and company. Influenced? Sure, but definitely not Death Metal.

I don't give a crap if someone is "Harder" I mean songs like "Blood of the scribe" "Break You" "Laid to Rest" in my opinion if you're a metal band singing(if you can call it that) about death you're a death metal band or you're a metal band that's made a death metal album...

I just have to put it right out there, I don't like 99% of metal. With that said, I love Motorhead and recently I've discovered Heaven & Hell, who are fantastic. Dig that sort of crazy-epic stuff. Are they underrated? I'm not sure.

Just thought I'd add my outsider perspective.

Heaven and hell are black sabbath without ozzy ,they can`t use the sabbath name because of a legal battle over the brand name ,so they are most definatly not overated

I will agree they aren't a death metal band. but i will say some of their tracks have a pretty strong death metal feel... but bleh tired of arguing... anyhow I like pretty much all metal. so i guess it doesn't matter in the big picture.

Not only are DT one of the most overrated bands in the history of music, but their pretentious tendencies toward being "progressive" continue to obfuscate the fact that they're just another shitty metal band with clean vocals. What exactly makes people believe they are so special?

Actually a lot of people consider dream theater to be prog where it`s all about the artistic wankery

Thank you. Music nerds unite! Death Metal has nothing to do with being "harder" as Doomy put it, but more to do with the specific style of playing. Chris Adler and co. generally do not play the same style as most death metal bands. It's just a tag for lazy people to use for simplicity.

Really, I was mostly laughing at your choice of calling them underrated. They've gotten Album of the Year awards from metal magazines (such as Revolver, though I wouldn't really consider that much of an achievement), have sold quite a few albums, and have headlined tours. Also, I dispute your claim of 'death metal' in reference to LoG, but it's no big deal.
