As long is it's not as mawkish as the later Tennant episodes I'll be happy. The new Doctor seems to be a good balance of wacky/scary, I quite like him to be honest. All the Tennant fanboys can go to hell.........things change!

If they're portraying the same character, there's bound to be some similarities involved.

He is certainly very different from the previous Doctors.
But he is undoubtedly better that I expected :D
I feared he would be terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised :D

Thought he did well, much better than I expected from a relative unknown, and the teaser for this season looked awesome apart from the very last scene, which kinda confused me. Doctor with a gun? Has that ever happened before?

Guessed most of the twists but you can tell its Moffat at the helm now and not Davies. Looks to be some nice scary Who's on the horizon.

Also, the new intro is awesome, much better than the old one.

Yes but when it went from Eccleson (is that how you spell it?) to Tennant there was nothing this blatant.

Like in the last scene, when
he showed all the threats to Earth in the past, then told the Zaraxi to run?
Scenes like that?

I must say, that was indeed very Tennant-ish, but I must also admit that he did it very very well. It didn't feel forced, it didn't feel faked. And I like that.

I absolutley loved him. I was worried he wouldn't stack up next to David Tennant, but he surpassed all my expectaions. The preview for the rest of the series got me really excited. Moffat is going to be great at the helm.

Personally I think he was alright, but will take some time getting used too, I do rather like the new assistant though.
Pretty much this, after I got over the Super Mario 64 flashbacks at any rate.

Doesn't neccessarily mean he's going to kill anyone with it, he could be shooting a control panel/window/airlock/lever etc..

Jealous of everybody here!

The new season doesn't premier on BBC America until the 17th.

Same here. Do you know if BBC America carries the episodes online?

Just watching the trailer tells me that his face will take a lot of getting used to, but I still have high hopes for him.

I really enjoyed it. So long as he keeps up this performance, with Stephen Moffat to write ever more scary and awesome episodes, I think we'll be fine.

The screwdriver and the new TARDIS on the other hand? That'll take some getting used to.

Awesome. Very awesome. New TARDIS and sonic screwdriver will take some getting used to though.
Also on a completely unrelated note Amy Pond is well fit.
Everything this man has said is true.

One report I read said how they were aiming for the "Completely Barking" in a similar vein to Tom Bakers Doctor and it seems to fit. While I expect Tennent fans to be a bit unhappy, I really enjoyed it.

For more specific comments:

I liked the initial set up of him appearing, meeting Amy, then vanishing again. There have been a couple of episodes in the past where we've seen the impact the Doctors had after he's gone and this also showed what it must be like really well.

Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) is very hot. I know its been said before but its worth repeating. I liked how they set her up to be a policewoman in all the promo hype then did a sharp u-turn on it.

"Oh, and delete your internet history" A couple of very nice one liners.

His speech at the end to the Atraxi introducing himself was really good. Its always nice when they reference the history like that.

He snapped his fingers and the Tardis opened. Nice call-back (or would it be foreshadowing? Stupid time travel) to the Library episodes.

Overall really looking foward to the rest of them. Especially episode 4 when
we have Steven Moffat writing, River Song appear and the Angels return.

EDIT:

I get what you're all saying, as an actor, Tennant did well with the material, its just the writing on the show is completely subpar, even for doctor who. Mostly because all the writers are more concerned with shoving doctor/dalek shaped objects up their ass than actually writing half-decent science fiction.

Closest they came was that year one billion episode, but even that quickly degenerated into space opera.
Well yeah lots of people weren't very pleased with Russel T Davis, main writer of the Tennant era. Some of his episodes were downright silly. However, this time around Moffat is calling the shots, and Moffat is awesome.

Haha, currently waiting for my friend in England to tell me how it went. I'm in America, so I'll have to wait a little until it's available for download across the pond.

He takes some of what Tennant did but also offers his own moments. I personally think that it is perhaps possible to look too much into it - his job is to entertain and he did that.
That said, I'm waiting for him to do a proper "serious" scene, because that's the only thing we haven't seen yet.
