Loved it. I was one of the (sadly few) people who were prepared to give Matt Smith a chance when he was announced as the new Doctor. So many 'fans' of the series wouldn't give him a chance and were complaining that he was 'too young'. My view? Matt Smith has basically taken everything that David Tennant brought to the role, and kept that personality, while adding his own, more quirky, twist to it. Steven Moffat is a great choice to replace Russel T. Davies, he proved his skills as producer and writer with some of my favourite episodes episodes (most notably Blink), and from the looks of it he will be even better than Davies (and that's no mean feat as Davies was a brilliant and visionary executive producer for the show). Matt Smith was a great choice, too. I read somewhere that he actually sat down with Tennant and the two of them discussed the role, and everything about it, from the character to the public perception of the show, to the tiniest details about the Doctor. And that really shows. Smith has done a great job of bringing that to the fore while still creating a unique personality with his own signature twist, and the best of the Doctor is kept throughout. If the rest of Series 5 is going to be like this, then we have nothing to worry about

Oh, and as for the new companion, Amelia 'Amy' Pond? When she appeared I was reminded of a Scottish version of Rose Tyler, if Rose had been raised in a village instead of London. Amy is a great companion, and I really think she's going to add a great dynamic to the character of the Doctor, as well as bringing her own talents to the role. And it doesn't hurt that Karen Gillan, who plays her, is pretty attractive too. As Steven Moffat said, she's "funny, talented, attractive... basically, she's Scottish"
