I've generally found the A.V. Club to be pretty much spot on with their evaluation of music and movies. I guess I'm not necessarily in agreement with everything on the list, but I've liked all the games that they listed, and I guess you could argue that each one perfected a different facet of gaming.

While I didn't enjoy many of the games listed, I feel each can be justified being placed in a similar list.

Starcraft needs to be on the list, i dont fucking care that it came out 2 years early, without it, CoD, Battlefield, Gaylo, CS, and every other popular MFPS owe their existance to Korea and Starcraft. Pro Gaming existed in 2 forms before starcraft: MTG, and Chess.
I hate or haven't heard of a majority of those games. and what no Halo? I call some serious shenanigans here! you want depth of story in an FPS go check out Halo 2.

The Sims and WoW are perfect examples of horrible games. Neither of these games have any sort of story to it. They never end, no sense of accomplishment, no " you win", and crappy graphics.
Rock Band, are you serious, if i want to hear my favorite bands play music I will open my itunes, and if i wanted to play guitar or drums I would learn how to. It is also sad to spend money on this game because of how free music is. If you wanted to play an Incubus song, go buy a guitar, then go on the internet and download the free sheet music..
Fallout 3, ok this game was fun, but nothing groundbreaking. The dev. took oblivion and then dropped a nuke on it. There was so much more that could have been done with that game, and people who have played F1, F2, will understand what i mean.
There are many other games that are better than these, also not a single sports game? I dont play any other than NHL which i wouldnt put on the list,but Madden 05 was like the best one yet.

It's not bad, but suffers from a distinct lack of Half-Life 2. But then, even a game of the year list is going to be pretty subjective and kind of random, so a game of the decade list can only be more so.
Hey i liked it a bit,it was 10trillion times better then the inside game of the year, and it gets 1000 points for not having any call of duty games up there. Though I played Bioshock i doubt it deserved game of the decade,I'd rather TF2 be on that list
