The second you said that you immediately lost the argument. Good day sir.

Oh, and you people who whine about the price and the BC need to really shut up. Just plain and simple.

They had to remove BC just to lower the price. So if you want BC, prepare to shell out some money. OR better yet, GET A PS2 WITH IT. Or best yet, use the Ps2 you likely own already!

This is grade school thinking people. You want something. you have to give something else up.
I see you failed to notice I wasn't arguing FOR Microsoft, therefore there was no argument. I stated that no Xbox releases this year interest me either. I wouldnt own either console if I hadn't been gifted an Xbox. Mind you you seem like the kind who would say YOU SHOULD HAVE TRADED IT IN FOR A PS3!!!!!
Ah. Alright then.

BEcause I hate it when someone says every game on [insert console] doesn't interest them and that somehow justifies their bashing of said console.

It's a really bad argument for anti-Sony and anti-MS people, or even anti-Nintendo people.
This is from someone who has never EVER BOUGHT either a Sony or Microsoft console. Before I was GIFTED an Xbox 360 I was considering buying one anyway. I have never ever seen a game exclusive to the PS3 that made me want to buy one. I may consider buying one once I have a job, but it would mainly be for the Blu Ray.
That's fine and well. It still doesn't mean the PS3 lacks games, though. It's just not right for you.

I think that's what alot of people seem to mistake. Not everyone has similar interests in games.

Oh thank god. You make sense! Indigo_Dingo is the main culprit I know of this lack of understanding. I just don't enjoy the range of games offered by the PS3. I personally enjoy Western RPGs (Mass Effect and the like) and Non-Realistic shooters. Could you seriously recommend a PS3 to me?

Well, I'd recommend an 80 GB Ps3. Or a 160 GB one. There's not really many other choices out there.

If you're looking for games, then I'd suggest Armored Core 4 and Armored Core: For Answer. Two of my favorite mech action games that are multiplat. The community is a bit bigger on the 360, but I thought you'd want to try those games anyway. Plus it's sort of a non realistic shooter, since it has giant robots and all.

I don't have the list of games you might like out, but I'd definitely delve a bit to see what's out there. I'm a big fan of the Ratchet and Clank games myself, and am awaiting the sequel.

YOu obviously misunderstand. Based on the kinds of games I enjoy, Western inspired RPGs and non realistic shooters, and based solely on exclusives, could you tell me I would get my moneys worth of games from a PS3 over an Xbox?

Hmm... sadly I would have to say no. I'm not a fan of Western RPGs that much save for Oblivion, which is on most consoles. And I'm not sure what types of Non realistic shooters there are out there, so I wouldn't be able to recommend the Ps3 for those types of exclusives.

I'd say to hold onto that money until there were more games coming out. Or simply go on PC. (if you can afford it)

I would say PC is the system for you. Youd be buying the PS3 for Resistance 1 and 2 or a 360 for Halo3. All the decent WRPG's at the moment Fallout and Oblivion are available on all platforms really.

every system is good for a different reason, but i love my 360 and PSP the most.

the 360 is great because its got everything i need and has most if not all of the current generation of game releases set for it.

and the PSP is epic because i can play ANYTHING on the move, i have a modded psp and i love it. i can play NES, Commodore 64, Atari, Sega Genesis, MSX, TurboGrafx, GameBoy, Super Nes, N64, PSX, basically anything you can think of within reason, and it even has the Quake Engine ported to it, so i can mod the hell out of it and make my own games.

i've already managed to make a halfway decent remake of Goldeneye and Half-Life on my psp using Quake, but i don't think anyone else would appreciate it as much as i do.

and just so we're clear, the wii was fun, but its a gimmick that only lasts a short time, the ps3 looks great, but with the long wait for new games, i can't see myself paying 400 bucks for a blu-ray paperweight when regular dvd's look just as good, and the DS is good too, but once i'm done with the games, there really isn't much replayability.

Being as the PS2 is the only console I've ever seen run over by a 1.4l Ford Fiesta and survive, I'm really not surprised.

if you think the ps2 is durable, try owning a gamecube.

in fact, buy one just to see if you can break it, i think its only 20 bucks now.

mine has had milk poured on it, it been dropped from a 7 foot shelf in my hot-as-hell garage, and the lid has been chewed and ripped off by my dog, but the thing still works without a single flaw.

Well... I'm actually buying a PS3 this weekend to replace my dead 360 and I would never have considered that a month ago so.. they're obviously changing something.
Can I have your games then?

OT: Last I checked, the PS2 was teh best selling console ever. I haven't checked, and I have no doubt it's now the Wii, but the PS2 was a great system, no shame in losing to it, unless you're supposed to replace it. Then there is a little shame.

I just stick with the good old Playstation 2.

There are way too many games I haven't played for it, and I can't afford to sell one of my balls and half the other one to buy a PS3 yet. I never really understood what's the big difference between the two consoles. Graphics look a bit better... what else? If I wanted to look at something pretty, I'd go outside and look at the sky.

... or not.

Hasn't this been happening to Nintendo for quite awhile? Until Wii anyway.
Also, Losing to PS2 is nothing to be ashamed of either. PS2 is so great, it's nearly impossible to live up that.

At least Nintendo had their handhelds to back them up back then. The PSP is even more of a failure than the PS3.

I think what a lot of people are failing to see is that if Sony doesn't get their shit together, there may not be any more exclusives, nor will there be a comeback in the next generation. The worldwide recession could knock them out cold if things don't turn around for them in another year or two. Sony is losing revenue all over the board, not only in the video game sector. They'll lose investors. Then they'll have to start charging for PSN (which I've read from some industry blogs might happen by the end of the year) and they'll lose the capital to invest into exclusives. That's a considerable amount of nails for their coffin. Huge companies are going under left and right in this economic recession. Don't think that a commodities company like Sony can avoid the fate shared by several auto makers this past month.

Articles like this not only reinforce the hard data that it's doing badly, it reinforces the idea that it's doing badly. People want security with their purchase, or at least perceived security. Unless they can turn public opinion, which is going to be nothing but an uphill battle, they might be sinking painfully slow.
