Richard figured this guy was either really stupid or really inattentive, he was going to fix either one though. He let a blade on his arm out before cutting the wire that connected Mordtoten's headphones to the computer. He waited patiently for the man to finally turn around.

Mordtoten took off his headphones and held them out, following the wire to it's cut end. "Ah-ha. Real funny Drake. I'm going to get you fired for thi-" Mordtoten started to say as he turned around, seeing the Society there, "Goddammit Drake you were hired to protect me and your practically have tea time with them over there! Argh, I knew I should have just hired someone instead of freakin' Major Crime doing it. Why the Leader has him as second-in-command I will never know! Yeah he's really good at giving orders but sometimes he just doesn't have a clue about workers!"

"Yes, yes, I'm sure your boss sucks and good help is extremely hard to find. Now, will you please focus on the man wielding a very large blade and has multiple weapons that could kill you faster than you can blink? Now, I'll have it not be said that I've gone about killing unarmed men who have not attacked me. So Will we talk peacefully or should I run you through now and save myself some trouble?" Richard asked sarcastically with the blade resting against the armor's shoulder.

"Oh please, your weapons and your shiny ass suit don't scare me. I'm used to hanging around people a hundred times stronger than you! I'm used to be the physically weak one of the group. And besides I thought this talk was peaceful! Your the one with the weapons and crap! What do I have? Oh look, a beaker! How scary! I'm sure everyone is just terrified of little ol' me in my lab suit." Mordtoten replied back grabbing a random beaker and throwing it in the air a few times.

"And before you say anything I know I have a super deadly virus and that's why you guys are somewhat nervous around me," he added.

"Threats have greased the wheels of conversation with many men of all types before, almost a standard greeting before a fight at this point. Besides, I'm not nervous. My team is, you could release that crap right now and I would be the last man standing in the room." Richard said before pulling the blade back.

"Believe me when I say that I know that that beaker you're holding can be more deadly than my suit depending on what you put in it. Now, any particular reason you want to end human life on the planet, or did you just wake up one day and find the idea struck your fancy?" Richard said as he smirked behind the helmet.

"Oh I wake up every day thinking about how I can end human life. How I can make an AI that will take over the world SKYNET style, or how I can make some inter-dimensional portal that will throw everyone to some alternate universe where pigs fly and I'm really the good guy," Mordtoten replied sarcastically, putting the beaker back down.

"But really I was simply ordered to do it. Currently working on the next part of my contract, before you guys just had to interrupt," he said, looking at his gloved hand to show that he was already bored of this conversation.

"Well, I doubt you can tell me who ordered it, but it is my job to ask. So I'm not actually going to pose the question, but simply expect you to answer with the standard response so we can move this along. Now I do have to ask however if you will stop before I need to start destroying data." Richard replied from where he stood.

"Look I wouldn't even care if I did tell you and you went after whoever it was...means I wouldn't have to complete this contract. But I don't know who wants it, that's 'high-class' information that I am not entitled to. Only the Leader and Major Crime probably know, oh and the person who asked for it," Mordtoten replied with annoyance.

"All right, one more name to hunt down, beautiful. Now, about my other question, the one that specifically pertains to the parameters of this job. Are you going to end this or am I going to be forced to resort to destruction and violence. While I must admit they are fun, I have already had my fill with your hired help." Richard continued unfazed, this man being annoyed meant nothing to him and he had no reason to worry about him.

"Of course I'm going to finish this! I was ordered to do this, to see it to the end, and I wil-" Mordtoten started to yell, before a phone started to ring. "Two seconds," Mordtoten said as he took the phone out of his pocket.

"Professor Herkimer Amon Mordtoten here," he said, leaning against his desk. He nodded at a few things that the person said, hanging up as he threw his phone into the wall.

"WELL! Remember when I said that I would finish this no matter what? Change of plans. Just told to put everything on hiatus. Fucking hell," Mordtoten groaned, kicking his desk causing some of the equipment to fall of the table.

"Yea, we may both know that hiatus means you will probably never finish your work. I don't think my teammates will accept that answer. I'm going to have to destroy your data and dispose of the virus in a way that doesn't endanger lives. So, am I going to have to hurt you and burn this place to the ground, or are you simply going to end it now?" Richard said.

"Of course I'm not going to destroy it! This is my little virus baby, what parent would I be if I destroyed it!?" Mordtoten yelled back, "You'll have to go through me! And even then you wouldn't destroy all the data! I have a back-up somewhere where you won't be able to get it!"

"I can go through you quite easily, we both know that. About the data, I don't need to destroy all of it, what you have here will probably set you back years or decades anyway." Richard replied simply.

"Now, are you sure you don't want to get out of this. I know how it feels to create, but it isn't as if you can't just recreate it after I leave anyway."

"Hah I have another copy elsewhere! Even if this is destroyed I always have the hard copy! And if you kill me that data on the computer will erase itself too! So, basically there isn't a way for you to win," Mordtoten spat back.

"Actually, killing you and destroying the computer is technically a win. Especially after I destroy your virus as well. Anyone picking up your work will still suffer from a lack of insight and experience that you have. Still setting back the project as it takes time to not only go over notes, but become proficient at performing what they say. That's good enough for me, not complete destruction, but a massive setback." Richard nonchalantly said. He honestly was beginning to not care about what he was actually here to do, it was more to match theoretical wits with this man.

Sorry for the delay, I should have said I was bailing.

"All right, Blood Boy, here's how this is gonna work," Katie said, advancing on Husk. "We're going to play this out nice and peacefully. I'll just put you out of the way by tying you up and hanging you from a ceiling light. Sound good? That way neither of us have to get hurt. If you don't agree... it'll just be a little harder for me to do my job." As she spoke, trying to distract him, her vines snaked closer, some of them splitting and dividing into two to extend her capabilities.

"Yeah look that's not gonna happen. If I just let that happen then I'll be mocked at the next villain convention," Husk replied with snark, biting his thumb to get some blood flowing, already starting to turn it into a bladed weapon.

"See back in my days heroes didn't kill! Well...one or two of them might have, but they stopped being good and went neutral or evil," Mordtoten said, somewhat distracted by his new train of thought before continuing, "Anyways that's not the point. The point is that you will not be winning this battle today!"

"Hey. None of that, thank you," Katie ordered, pointing a finger from each hand at those of Husk. The vines connected to her pointing fingers shot straight at his wrists and wrapped themselves around him. Katie moved her hands in a gesture of separation, and the vines responded accordingly, pulling Husk's hands out away from his body, turning him into a human-shaped cross. Katie tried to prepare for the possibility that her opponent could cut his bonds and charge her.

"Jason, would you mind helping me out in case this guy tries anything?" she asked, not looking away from Husk.

"Yea, I'm not one of those All American, Apple-pie loving, fisticuffs heroes." Richard said bluntly.

"You see, I'm more of the hero that sees it as perfectly fine to kill one to save one thousand. If it serves the purpose of the greater good, sacrifices must be made sometimes. Maybe that doesn't make me the greatest hero in the world, but it certainly makes me more realistic than them as well." he continued.

"And I actually do win with my previous plan. With you dead and the virus set back years at least, that gives us time to find whoever picked up after you left and stop them. It may take a while until your colleagues realize that if they touch your work they end up dead, but they will learn it sooner or later. You're going to have to trust me on this, but I have way more resources and way more time than you and everyone else but the Union itself, so I can spend all the time in the world in the fun little hunt for your buddies. Sooner or later, I will find them, and I will stop them by any means necessary." he concluded.

"Hmm you remind of a person or two that thought the same way way back when," Mordtoten mused, "Anyways now that my mind is back on track...You think you'll win but there's a lot more at play than you think there is boy."

Husk was silent, quickly having his blood cut some of the vines on his arm, allowing him to rip it free from the rest of them. "Your little vines won't be doing much against me," he told Katie, drawing out some more blood and cutting off the vines on his other arm.
