No, questions are all right, but I'm not good at history, I'll try to see what I can answer. Yes some religions where inspired by magical beings but I'm not sure which ones. Magic society has always been seperate from whats called "conventional society" it's only been in the last thousand years that we've gotten better at hiding our tracks. Like I said I don't know about the libraries, knowledge tends to be a very jealously guarded thing with mages, considering just knowing a spell means you can use it. Part of the reason I'm so suprised Leland is letting us use his library, but then again he doesn't seem to be intouch with most the magic society.

Katie danced out of the way of the icicle spear, not wishing to catch it and throw it back. That would just allow Aaron to use it again. She pointed two swords straight at Aaron to deter him charging, unless he wanted to impale himself. The others were brought up at angles in case he suddenly changed direction.

Aaron raised his left arm and blocked the two swords. He slid below her as he guarded and went for a leg sweep. Hopefully it would knock her off of balance.

Katie levitated herself a metre in the air to avoid the sweeping leg, and instantly realised her mistake. You never took both feet off the ground in a close-quarters fight. It gave you a disadvantage. Hastily, she tried to prevent Aaron from exploiting this by arranging her swords in a pattern across her body, to stop him from sending her flying across the room.

Jason watched on as the two fought. He thought of breaking through the wall, but remembered that they came to spar, and she was gonna have to build up some strength after the virus. Instead he decided to motivate her from behind the wall.

"Don't worry Katie, you got this! I'm rooting for you baby!" He yelled excitedly, pumping his fists.

Aaron quickly grabbed Katie by the legs and pulled her down slamming her into the ground. If Aaron put all of his strength then he could've done some real damage. Though he still brought her down with enough force to knock the wind out of her.

"Want to give up yet?" Aaron leaned up against the wall.

Katie sprawled on the ground, winded and probably bruised in several places by Aaron's move. She tried to get her breath back, but struggled to do so. The vines holding her extra arms in place constricted her, and the branch down her spine had been painful to land on. Katie released the vines' grip and began trying to breathe and get up at the same time. She coughed a few times, one of which spat a blob of something on the floor.

"Okay... you beat me," she answered Aaron, breathing hard. In an attempt to stand, she slipped and fell back to the floor.

A feel of guilt immediately fell over Aaron. He knelt down next to Katie and helped her up.

"I'm sooo sorry...I didn't mean to....I'm sooo sorry."

As he helped her back to her feet he got rid of the remaining ice in the gym. He walked her over to a bench and laid her down.

"You should be OK for now."

"Don't... don't worry about it," Katie murmured, looking up at Aaron and smiling weakly. "I'll be fine in a while." She went back to breathing evenly, trying to slow it down to her normal rate. Her heart was pounding as if she'd done hard exercise for the past hour. Which was somewhat accurate, considering the fact that sparring cost her a lot of energy, perhaps more so than Aaron or Jason. And Aaron's freezing of her plants added to that loss, as she had needed to use more of her own reserves to regrow them.

That was her weak point, she realized: she needed a lot of energy to grow, change and maintain her plants.

I'm going out for an hour or so. I'll still be online - I'm loading a YouTube video - but I can't post until I get back.

"Katie, are you all right? Do you need assistance?" Leland asked her, ready to get up and help if so.

"I can understand why the magi would jealously guard their information, even the books and scrolls that hold no magical power. I'm sure some magi saw the times where man has knowingly destroyed information and those who collect it themselves. Even though in one sense I can't help but sympathize and agree with the magi decision to hoard such information to protect it, I am actually glad Leland hasn't had much contact with the magical community at large. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish isolation from their kind on anyone, but I am glad to have the chance to learn so much about the history of my kind. Perhaps one day I will be able to tour the library under the ever watchful and vigilant eye of a high ranking mage and be able to see their library's collection of non-magical human history. Though that chance probably remains slim, I can't help but hope." Richard replied almost wistful at the though of all that accumulated history. Stories; poems; and tales of ancient battles, peoples, and lands simply waiting to be read for the first time in thousands of years.

Jason's expression quickly changed as Katie went down. As soon as the wall of ice went down, Jason rushed to her side, kneeling and taking her hand.

"Katie, are you alright?" He said, worried and fearful of her health as his mask began to unravel and recede. He suddenly began to feel angry, angry at Aaron for striking her, and angry at himself for not interfering, the second time it's happened. His free hand began to ball into a fist and he slowly rose to face Aaron. The long spike from before began to slide from out his arm, but before he could strike he began to remember what would happen if he did. He took a deep breath and the spike disappeared back into his arm. He went back over to Katie's bench and sat down on the floor next to it.

"Don't hit a girl ever again." Jason grumbled in frustration before lightly placing his head on Katie's stomach. He took her hand and held it close.

"Never again." He thought softly as he closed his eyes.

"I'll be fine. It's nothing I can't live with," Katie answered Leland before looking at Jason, slightly confused by his actions, the spike in particular. It seemed to her that he had wanted to hurt Aaron as a result of seeing her get hurt at his hands. "You okay, hun?" she murmured. "Something bothering you?" She gently squeezed his hand to get his attention.

Oh god that would be hellish. Tommy was having trouble thinking of something duller than reading dusty old books in a library with some old codger sitting on your shoulder. Leland's library was interesting but that was mostly because of the novelty of it, and the artifacts, he didn't want to spend all day reading, he just didn't have that temperment. Despite that he nodded as if he agreed with Richard.

If you want I could probably get my Dad to let you look at his library, it's not as big or as old as most, but it has some interesting books on the magic side of the World Wars.

Jason looked up at her, worry still in his eyes.

"I can't just sit around to watch you get hurt. Not again, not anymore. After Husk got you a few days ago, it's been eating away at me. I was running my godamn mouth and you paid the price for it. I didn't interfere, I...couldn't. And seeing Aaron strike you down like that just brought my anger back. And i've been trying to keep my cool ever since..." He stopped as he remembered that Leland was amongst the crowd as he spoke.

"Never mind. I'll tell you the rest later." He finished with a sigh.

"I can tell the idea bores you, but I would appreciate the opportunity." Richard replied.

A whirl of emotions conflicted in Katie's mind. A mix of affection, pride and shame were the three major ones. She didn't speak for a few seconds, thinking over her next words carefully. She wanted to get them right.

"Jason... I think I understand what you're feeling," she said quietly. "I felt the same way when I heard about you and Husk fighting a while back. But we both know we can't be there to help each other every time one of us gets hurt. I'm going to take a few more hard knocks in the future; it's part of the job, right?"

Not for much longer, she told herself. Katie found that it was becoming easier to breathe as she spoke.

"My point is... Jason, sometimes you have no choice but to just sit back and let things happen. And when a time like that comes -" she interrupted herself with a couple of short coughs "- comes around again, because it will someday... I need to be able to rely on myself and my own capabilities. I can't rely on you to do everything for me. How would I experience things for myself if I did?"

Jason's eyes widened in realization as she talked.

"You're right Katie. Won't be able to save you or anybody else every time. It just wouldn't be possible for me, or any of us. And hey, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger eh?" He said with a smile as he looked around at his teammates and Leland. His eyes came back to his girlfriend.

"Thank you Katie. You're the best thing to ever happen to me." He said softly before kissing her on the hand.

"You're lucky to have her as a girlfriend, you know that?" Erebus asked.

"Of course I know that! If I didn't have her we'd probably all be dead by now." Jason replied.

"I don't know about getting stronger as a result of that fight," Katie answered. "My head's still hurting, from both the crash to the floor and Aaron freezing my plants. No disrespect, of course," she added with a small smile to the teammate in question. "But thank you, sweetie. Means a lot." She tried to sit up, but immediately decided against the idea, as little stars began to wink in and out of existence in her peripheral vision.

Jason saw as she struggled to rise.

You should rest. It's been a long day, and that attack knocked the wind out of you. Here, let me take you to the room." He said as he began to pick her up.
