"Dona used to go by the name of Jess. She was an actress and this Leon had his prop gun replaced with a real one. He shot Jess in the head, killing her. The body survived and Dona came from that. There is reason to believe this Leon replaced the gun himself in order to get ahead. It is why we are taking him in." Richard said from where he stood. He would be ready if Leon tried anything.

Alister leaned against the wall and buried his face in his hands.

"That is... even more confusing than I thought it would be. Still, being made from a woman's death would explain Dona's, well, interesting personality."

He took a few deep breaths and regained his composure.

"Very sorry about that, sir. It shouldn't happen again. Now then, we've got the guy. Where to?"

"He first needs to be restrained." Richard said before walking over to him with a pair of handcuffs.

"Dona seems quite convinced of your capacity to do so. The fact you went underground also makes it rather suspicious. Even if we can't get you for Jess' murder, we can get you for arson. Either way, you will be standing trial and likely going to jail. Now put your hands on your head and get on your knees."

Alister grabbed Richard's arm, staying him for a second.

"Wait." Alister said, stroking the few whiskers on his chin. "We're missing something important here. If Leon wasn't the one doing this to Dona, then who was?"

"I agree, it does require investigation, and we will. Right now though, I think we should make sure we take care of Leon. That way we can worry about one less possible threat. If whatever this is turns out to be a threat to us as well as him however, it means he will be kept safe and out of the way." Richard replied.

"You still need to face trial for the Arson. We also need to get you out of here in case whatever is causing Dona to hear Jess isn't actually the old personality surfacing. If it isn't, you will be in much danger. Now please do as I have said." Richard replied before walking over and putting his hand on Leon's shoulder.

"She is already dead. I was the one that paid for the bullet to be removed, and I also provided my mind to Dona in an hour of need. In all the time Dona's consciousness was shared with mine, Jess' voice never once spoke. Now get on your knees and put your hands behind your head or I will be forced to add a charge of resisting arrest and tampering with an investigation to Arson. I would really prefer not to, and it is for your safety as well as ours. If she is speaking now, I will investigate it to the best of my ability, but the chances are slim this is really her." Richard replied sympathetically.

"Wha-? Oh, no, I'm fine," Katie answered. Now was certainly not the time to talk about how she felt. Her mind was full of uncertainties and unknowns, and she wanted to be sure of herself and her decision before talking to Jason - or anyone else - about her problems. In an attempt to persuade Jason she was okay, and thus prevent further questioning, she leaned over and kissed him briefly.

"Fine, but you will remain handcuffed." Richard said before handcuffing Leon's hands behind his back. Once he was done he turned to the others.

"Alright, we need to find out why Jess is suddenly speaking. Whether this is an outside influence or if it really the personality resurfacing."

Jason began to lean into the sudden kiss, until he noticed that the car ahead began to move. Gently, Jason let up from the cpr practice session.

"Look, the traffic's back in motion. Finally!" He said with an exasperated sigh.

Katie pulled back from Jason, and settled into her seat as the gap between their car and the one in front widened. She put the car into drive, quickly pulled into a gap in another lane, and eventually found the appropriate turn off. She navigated the roads, turning into her home street within ten minutes, despite the traffic.

She pulled up outside a fairly medium-sized house, its front gardens full of a melange of small trees. The majority of them were leafless, but a few evergreens could be seen here and there. A simple brick path led through the forest to the double doors at the front of the house.

"So... this was my place before I joined the Society," Katie said, turning to Jason with a smile. "These gardens are nothing compared to what I did out the back. It's interesting what I've managed to do in three years, really."

"That felt strangely anti-climactic." Richard quipped as the plane flew ever closer back to home.
