The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

Requiem looked up at the tall pillars in front of the Promenade as he crossed the parking area and went into the entrance hall. He was relieved to see that the doors were unlocked (one was even just open) though he had to wonder whether or not they knew about it. He had seen blood trails coming from the parking area, so he knew there had been a recent skirmish.

He walked into the dully lit main hall, not entirely sure on where to go. He looked at a map that showed that there was a lounge area and recalled the Society's member had mentioned it at one time or another. He walked through the museum since it was the quickest route, stopping in the Second Generation section to look at a few pictures before going down a hall marked 'Personnel Only'. He started to open a few doors before finding the one for the lounge, opening it and seeing everyone sitting down.

Cillian was the only one who noticed the young man at the doorway. He spoke up, "Um, guys? I think we have someone important here if you'd all turn your attention to the lounge door."

Richard looked up to see Requiem standing in the doorway.

"Well, at least somebody escaped, considering I doubt you joined Sykes. Now the question is, why are you here?"

 

[tsatoma]

Requiem immediately started to beep and flail his arms around as he tried to tell them what happened. The response was complete silence, everyone too confused trying to figure out what he was telling them. Requiem looked down in despair as he took a seat at the rocking chair. He was visibly upset by everything, and upon closer look his jacket and pants were torn up from the long trek.

"Umm, I got none of that," Garrus said.

"Alright since he obviously understands English, even if he can't speak it, I may have an idea. One beep for yes, two beeps for no. Are you speaking in binary?" He asked. If he was speaking in either Binary or Morse code Richard knew he could find a way for him to be understood.

 

[tsatoma]

Requiem beeped twice, getting a collective groan from the group.

"Okay now what do we do? I think that he's speaking his own language or something. Something that only those closest can understand," Garrus said to Richard, getting a beep from Requiem.

"Hold on Garrus, just because he isn't speaking in binary doesn't mean that he doesn't actually know it. Alright two questions, leave a two second interval between each answer so we know when you have answered the first question, and answer sequentially first answer will be to the first question and second answer to the second question. Now, you are a cybernetic being correct? Secondly, if you are a cybernetic being, is any part of your brain a machine?" He asked, there was still something he could do, it would just be a bit harder.

 

[tsatoma]

Requiem beeped once, paused, then beeped again after two seconds.

"That's good right?" Garrus asked, not exactly sure what was going on now.
"Yeah, just be quiet for now," Cillian told him.

"Yes Garrus, this is very good. I need to ask a few more question before I can set up a way for him to communicate with us in a way we will understand. Alright then Requiem, a few more questions in the same set up as before." Richard said before thinking of how to word his questions.

"Is there a way to access this portion of your brain or some other part of you that communicates with that portion of your brain? If so, can you show us where? Finally, if you can with both parts, can you grant us access to the signals coming from that are?" Richard asked.

 

[tsatoma]

Requiem beeped once as he took of his glove showing his robotic hand. The tip of his index finger seemed to open up, and he grabbed the the tip and pulled it out, revealing a cord. Requiem beeped again once he had a good two feet of cord.

"That's convenient. And kinda disturbing..." Garrus muttered, getting a nod from a few others.

"Fortuitous, would be the word I would use Garrus." Richard said before going back up to his room and grabbing the laptop he used to run diagnostics on his suit. He came back down and plugged the cord into the computer.

"Alright, now you will need to think in English for this to work. As you think of the words, the computerized parts of your brain should automatically translate the signals into binary. The computer will receive these signals and translate them back into English. Basically, your brain is now a keyboard. Now, tell us why you are here." Richard said after he had everything set up the way it would need to be.

Requiem nodded, practicing putting random letters and words on the screen before typing out:

It went down like this. I was like in my room charging up, it's kinda like a sleep state thing. Then my mom sent me a message...she can do that ya know? It basically told me to escape, and so I jumped out of my room and like escaped. And so I came here, since I wouldn't be able to break anyone out by myself...well maybe I could but it's better to be safe.

Requiem stopped after that, wriggling his thumbs as he waited for a response. The first one to talk was Garrus.
"Okay first off I don't know why you bothered with italics (It looks nice. Requiem wrote), second I guess you must be a teenager because you sure as hell talk, think whatever like one, and third what do you mean 'your mom'?" Garrus asked him, hints of anger in his voice.
Well she thinks of me as a son, and she did kinda adopt and raise me so... Requiem wrote back, inching slightly away from Garrus.

"Fine whatever," Garrus muttered back, crossing his arms and leaning back in his seat.

"Garrus, you can handle the adopted sibling issues later. Right now however, why did you come to us?" Richard asked.

 

[tsatoma]

"Fine. Whatever. This isn't over," Garrus told Requiem with bitterness. Requiem raised up his hands in an innocent way as he started to write up his next answer.

Because you guys are like the only other people I know. I couldn't go to any other Union members because surely they'd be getting attack and imprisoned by Omoi Sykes too right? So I came here, hoping you guys would help me get them out...so will you?

 

[blaze96]

"Well, I would, but my suit is in somewhat of a state of disrepair." Richard said before thinking a moment.

"However, should you help me, with your cybernetics we could easily be done within the hour. I have all the parts, they just need to be put together. As soon as my suit is back in working order, I would be glad to help even if the others will not. Your adopted mother did save the lives of my friends, now is as good a time as any to at least attempt returning the favor." The doctor who brought Alister down spoke at that point.

"Mr. Masterson, you are in no condition to be going anywhere, let alone engaging in combat." Richard stopped him there.

"Yes, yes, medical problems, possible death and all that, I get it. This needs to be done however, if I need to put myself at personal risk to do it then so be it."

Oh thank you! I'll help out alright! Thank you so much! Requiem excitedly wrote, shaking Richard's hands.

"Well I'll be sure to help you out in breaking mom and everyone else out. We could certainly use any extra help we can get. What does everyone else think?" Garrus asked, putting his anger aside for now.
"I think it'd be a good idea. I won't go but I can keep you guys updated," Cillian said.

"Alright Requiem, we need to get started as soon as possible in order to save time." Richard said as he let go of Requiem's hand and started up the stairs, he went back to his room and immediately set to work.

Requiem followed Richard to go and help leaving everyone else in the lounge.

"This is good. We now have a slight plan," Garrus told everyone, "I'll be going to help, not sure about the rest of you. This can be very beneficial, especially since I'm pretty sure everyone of those villains will be pissed off at this Omoi Sykes for imprisoning them."

 

[CounterAttack]

"I'll come with you guys," Katie said, standing up and looking to Garrus as she spoke. "We can't just sit around and do nothing. Unless someone has another idea, something else I could do? Is there anywhere else we could try to attack, to destabilise our opponents or something?"

"Hey, before you guys go." Alister said, raising his hand a bit. "Did anyone remember to grab my sword before we came back to the Promenade?"
