The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

"Wait if you guys will be storming the Union base...wouldn't you all go since it must be fortified and guarded like crazy?" Cillian asked them.

"That does make sense. So we might have to deal with the Union's own security along with any guards this Sykes guy might have there. That does seem kinda daunting," Garrus said before turning to Alister, "I didn't. And if no one else did we'll make a stop to get it for you."

Close to an hour later Richard walked back down in suit with Requiem.

"Alright, I'm good to go. The suit is now back up to where it was before. So Requiem, where are we off to this time?"

Requiem was about to start beeping before remembering that these people wouldn't understand. So he plugged himself back into the computer and wrote:

It's quite a bit away, on the outskirts of Lakefall. The sooner we can get there the better. Wish you guys had a faster way to travel...

"Yeah well we don't have stuff like that. Everyone let's head out," Garrus said as he stood up.

"And I'll be either here or at the station keeping everyone updated on the situation," Cillian told them.

 

[CounterAttack]

"All right," Katie said simply as she headed out ahead of the others. Once out in the gardens, she flicked her comm back on, stepped back into her plant armour and uprooted herself from the ground. She proceeded to reseal the split in the armour's back. It closed itself easily, sealing her into the armour without a trace of the split's existence. Like it was never there... Perfect, she thought as she waited for the others to catch up.

Richard simply stepped outside and waited for the others with Katie.

"Whenever you all are ready." He said as he stood outside.

Alister watched from a window as the others left. He pressed his forehead against the window in a bored manner as the others took off.

"Have fun."

Garrus was about to head out (Requiem was just quickly showing him where to go on a map) before noticing Alister was going to sit it out.

"Hey come on man let's go. Unless you think you aren't going? Because then you'd be stuck here waiting for however long it takes us. Plus we can get your sword on the way over there," Garrus said taking another look at the map to make sure he was right.

"And I doubt you want to miss the action, even with the injuries."

Alister turned his head to look at Garrus. "Look at me man, I can't even walk without my sword right now. If I'm coming, then somebody needs to push me."

Richard got on his comm.

"What the hell kind of damage resistance do you have? I mean Christ man, I'm a normal human who got hit with shrapnel and then took damage from bullet shards after that and I'm going on this mission. You'd think you'd been shot before if you had been in combat in the past three hundred years or so with a sword. So get up and get moving hero, we have another battle to fight." Richard said before muttering into his comm.

"Freaking pansy, can't push through a little pain. Has a goddamn resistance to damage and thinks he can sit out because of a few bullet wounds. Figures he would be the rookie to wuss out." Richard did this hopefully in order to rile him up and get him to act rather than just sit there.

Richard's comment worked, but not nearly in the way he had hoped. Above him he heard a crash as Alister flung himself out of the window, falling to the ground beside him with a loud smack, a torrent of glass coming behind him and causing anyone nearby to duck for cover.

"You think you know pain you son of a *****, I take more abuse in one fight than you will in your life! Now pick me up and take me to the car, damn it!"

Garrus looked out of the broken window with slight shock, turning to Requiem and shrugging before leading him out to where his motorcycle was.

"Okay then. We'll be taking the freeway north until we get to the highway. You'll be riding with me," Garrus told Requiem who shrugged as he got on the motorcycle, "Okay guys let's get going."

 

[CounterAttack]

Katie flinched under her armour at Alister's actions. "Was that really necessary, Alister?" she asked, more out of the need to ask than curiosity. "You could have simply gotten Garrus to help you down here and we wouldn't have to replace a window. But anyways, I trust you'll help him out, Richard." With that, she crossed to her own motorbike, got on it and started it up.

"I'll follow you," she said quietly to Garrus while she waited. She knew it was over the comm system, but it didn't really matter as long as he heard.

"Really, because I remember you running and hiding in the last fight. If I remember correctly I took bullets after I was already bleeding, not cover. Now get up, If you had the ability to jump through a window, your ass can damn well stand up. By the way, I'm a businessman and a scientist, two professions not known for their fighting spirit, and I showed more balls than you did if that is the case." Richard continued, hoping to rile him further.

As Richard spoke Alister gritted his teeth in anger.

"And I'm a computer programmer."

He grabbed onto a piece of Richard's armor and dragged himself up, only to keep climbing until his arms draped around his ally's armor, his legs slightly lifted off of the ground.

"Mush."

"You honestly can't walk? Apparently damage resistance isn't as great as it seems to be. At least you found enough will to do something other than mope, guess it will have to do for now." Richard said realizing how he wasn't about to get riled up much further. He walked him to Katie's bike.

"You mind getting him where he needs to go, I'm going to be flying, and the last thing I need is a person riding on my back once again."

 

[CounterAttack]

"Sure, no problem," Katie answered, looking round. She got off the bike to help Alister onto the passenger seat, and asked him, "Do you think you can hold on by yourself? Or do you want me to make sure you don't fall off the way I did when you were unconscious?" If Alister said yes to the second option, Katie could simply tie him to either herself or the bike. Hopefully his reaction would be somewhat favourable.

Alister waved off Katie's attempts to help. "I can use my arms just fine. I'll be OK here, honest."

 

[CounterAttack]

"Fair enough," Katie said as she got back on the bike. "Just be sure to hold on. It'd be a nuisance if you fell off and broke something as a result." Turning to look ahead at Garrus and Requiem, she asked, "What's taking the others so long? Seriously now." The more time they wasted, the more powerful their enemies became.

"Don't worry about it Katie, we should be under way soon enough." Richard said before walking over to Garrus and Requiem.

"So requiem, how long did it take you to walk over to us from wherever you escaped from?" Richard asked before opening a small part of his arm that revealed a place for Requiem to plug in.

"Since this was meant to be the special forces model, it had to be able to collect information. Never honestly thought I would need to use it though." he explained.

Requiem plugged in and responded to Richard: I basically ran non-stop from early midday today.

"Holy fuck, you're ridiculous," Garrus muttered as he shook his head.
