"Pissing him off isn't the best way to deal with what just happened to Garrus though. I'm sure Camille told him something major, and he's going to need a bit of time before he's absorbed all of it and come to accept it. If it makes you feel better, I'll put him under a psych evaluation once a day, if he doesn't pass when the attack happens, he won't be going anywhere with us." Richard said, it was half-hearted at best but he knew his tone did not betray that.

"Now, what can your powers do as a basic overview?" he asked Alister.

Alister sighed, trying to gather his thoughts. "Okay," he began. "it's a bit complicated. Let's start off by imagining that there are three 'tiers' to my powers, all right? Tier One is the basics, the stuff I was born with. That's easy enough, I have some above-average strength, agility and endurance. The stuff any superhero's got, really. Then there's Tier Two, the Holy Grail. As a result of drinking from it, I have extremely heightened durability, and a moderate healing factor. Then there is Tier Three, Excalibur. It kind of works like a power enhancer and a power all of its own. It's magic, no doubt about it; the thing can cut through other metal if you swing it hard enough. Besides that, it makes me stronger, faster, ups my healing factor a bit, and even lets me take a few more blows to the head."

He stopped to take a breath after the long explanation. "And that's it."

"I'm fine! ...I'm fine," Garrus said as he calmed down as he took a few deep breathes, "I'm good. Just...perhaps being alone would be best."

"All right," Katie said quietly as she released his hands. She put an arm around Garrus's shoulders and led him away from the group, weaving a chair out of grass for him when they were a few metres away.

"Come back when you feel you're ready, alright?" she asked, giving him a brief smile before she rejoined the others. Something was bothering her, though... Jason's absence. Where was he, she wondered. Hopefully he'd just gotten lost somewhere on the way back from the Union HQ.

"Alright, so you're pretty open and shut, fight the suits head on. Not much else to ask about really." Richard said after thinking it over a bit.

"We get it Garrus, you're saying you're fine. Not one of us actually believes that for a second considering an outburst like that has never happened before, but we get you don't want to talk about it. Now, can we all move off of Garrus' personal problems that he has now stated he wants to work through on his own, and focus on the army coming to kill us all, as well as how we are going to face a sociopath with magical powers?" Richard said blandly. If Garrus didn't want to talk about it, he wished the others would hold off on pursuing the issue until it had been at least a little while after it happened. He figured it was best to let the wound stop bleeding before they tried to patch it up.

Alright, where do we start preparing?
Tommy wanted to see if Garrus was alright, but he had said he wanted to be alone, perhaps he would check in on him later.

"Well first we need to go over your powers Tommy. Figure we'd get the last of the questioning over with before we move onto possibly planning for Leland, though any plan will probably go out the window once Leland actually comes into the picture." Richard said as he turned attentions to issues other than Garrus for at least Garrus' sake.

Well, as you know I'm super strong and super tough, I have a healing factor that heals all wounds in my body. My power comes from ambient magical energy which are absorbed at the top of my abdomen, you know where the triangles on my suit meet, it actually varies from place to place and the surrounding. If I place has more ambient energy then I'll be stronger tougher, and heal faster, and if there is less energy I'll become weaker. One thing is that this makes me good against mages, because as they use magic they charge the area with more energy that I can use. Also while I'm not agile, I am quite mobile, with legs as strong as mine and with my endurance, I can sprint and jump extremely well.

"Hmm, well know that you've revealed that you get your powers to everyone other than me and Garrus who already knew, we can get into more specifics. Can you manipulate this magical energy in other ways, say minor manipulation of objects or limited flight for example? Perhaps maybe something to do with perceptions or reaction times, like perhaps grabbing a missile in flight and redirecting it with your strength and jumping abilities." Richard inquired. He didn't know much about how magic actually worked and how certain people got their powers, so this would be a learning experience for the both of them he hoped. If absolutely nothing else there was much he could learn.

I can only manipulate magic outside of my body in minor ways we call them cantrips, just cheap little tricks like making a spark of a small light show. I can't fly, atleast not now, my father told me my powers are still evolving, maybe one day, but I wouldn't count on it becoming like that now. As for reaction times, my father was training me in how I could use my magic to over-clock my nervous system, allowing me to react faster, but we stopped after I tried it my first time, you see doing so makes it seem like everything is going in slow motion, but also makes me hyper-sensitive, if I get shot it'll hurt like having every bone broken in my body.

Another thing that might interest you is that when I'm overcharged on magic, I've notice the laws of physics seem to apply less to me, beyond just my powers I begin to be able to do things that shouldn't be possible.

"Hmm, well perhaps in small doses the speeding of the central nervous system would be good. I only mention it in case you can catch a missile going for a friendly tank and turning it on a suit, it shouldn't kill the operator, but it can severely weaken the suit. If not, it isn't a major loss, you're jumping ability may get you high enough to reach the suits capable of limited flight, if he has any, with suitable height before hand. Depending on how strong you punch, it may be you can punch through the outer layers and simply rip out the innards of the suit or hit the operator himself. You should be much like Alister, on the front lines and going toe-to-toe with the suits." Richard said before adding as an off handed side note.

"The more you delve into physics, the more you learn that laws aren't really laws. They are laws given certain conditions, and once you leave those conditions they no longer apply. The deeper you delve into science, the more murky the waters become. Perhaps it is the same with magic, and perhaps one day the waters of both will clear enough so that each finds a place for the other in itself. Who knows, maybe science is even a form of magic in and of itself, and magic is its own realm of science that few have had the chance to explore yet."

Playing catch with missiles would be awesome. As for the science thing, my father says scholars have been trying to sort out the relationship between magic and science for centuries, some times it seems like they're just the same thing from different angles, other times it seems impossible that these two things can even occupy the same universe.

How about you Richard? We've all told you about our powers, but what about your suit in specific?

"I guess turnabout is fair play in this situation. I'll probably go into more details on the prototype suit that lead to this one and he has as well. My suit uses layers of carbon polymers to be stronger than the armor of a tank while still being light enough to maneuver. The power comes from a small fission reactor that is automatically monitored to stop the reaction whenever not in use or in extreme emergencies. The casing itself uses diamond casing and other polymers to make it the toughest and possibly most costly casing ever to be used for one system and is designed to only break under the most extreme traumas, so breaking has a probability of far less than one percent.

The jet propulsion system is the same as what you would see in an F-22 Raptor aircraft, with thrust vectoring included for added speed. Now the suit can't handle the same speeds, it isn't aerodynamically designed, but it can achieve speeds far faster than many older jet aircraft simply because of the strength of its components. I rarely need that speed, but it helps to know it is there should the need arise. The jets are located in the hands and feet for stability and ease of movement, it takes getting used to, but it is very responsive once learned.

The suit has two primary weapons, blades in the arms and two ion cannons, or plasma if you prefer, in the shoulders. The plasma weapons are automatically tailored to the situation by calculating distance to target, thickness and makeup of obstructions, and personal voice settings on mode. The helmet itself provides as many sensor types as the modern soldier might need, night vision, infra-red, sonar, radar, etc. each controlled by a different voice activated mode. This suit was meant to be shown off for special forces, so it also needed to be used to collect information. It is why the suit was able to interface with Requiem.

The suit uses very advanced hydrolics to allow me to be stronger and faster than most humans, as well as more agile. This is aided by GPS in the form of a HUD on my helmet, once again voice activated, that allows for real time maps of the area and targeting data as well as target tracking. The suit is upgradable so as to be able to keep up with advancing technologies, I in fact have a few ideas for upgrades already once this is over. Some of which are basics I simply forgot, and some meant to make the suit a bit less lethal since I'm working more as a police officer than a soldier for which the suit was designed. The prototypes have a few but major limitations that keep it from achieving the possibilities of the beta suit, as is true with all alpha units." Richard said before pausing to think over what would be needed to know about the suits they would be facing.

"The alpha suits do not have the fission power system, instead relying on ion batteries. This design does not allow for the use of energy based weaponry, so expect bullets and missiles. The blades in the arm are not present either, since they were only added to make up for a disadvantage in close combat situations. Another limitation is that the jets cannot use the fission power system, and thus require their own fuel, making their implementation far less likely. Expect to see some, but there will be many suits that don't fly, probably more than those that do. The armor is still as strong as my suit's, so they'll be tough to crack, and the sensor modes are there as well, making hiding near worthless. A fatal flaw however is that much of the hydrolics are exposed and are nowhere near as strong as the armor, to reach it requires getting in close to destroy them, but the suits are immobile without them. There is also the fact that wiring and microchips used for the suits many electronics are vulnerable if destroyed, and the batteries can be disconnected and the suits powered down by those means. It is difficult, but if Katie can grow plants from pollen spores, it makes it much easier. Otherwise, the best advice I can give to the upfront fighters is to hit hard and go for joints or where plate meets plate. Those areas are naturally weaker, and will provide softer targets.

Anything else you want or need to know?" Richard asked, knowing he overloaded them with information, but he figured holding anything back may prove to be a mistake in a fight.

Tommy past his hand over his head, flicking his hair, but then gave Richard a thumbs up.

"Right, sorry, the word specific is very dangerous around me. That is especially true of when someone asks me about my work." Richard thought for a moment before he spoke.

"Well, I guess we are finished here unless someone has something to ask someone else. As a side note though, leave Garrus be. I'm sure you're all concerned for one reason or another, but give him a bit of time to digest what he was told before we all start trying to show support."

Tommy looked over at his bike, which had several bullet holes in it, he got an idea and gave a note to Richard.

Code:
Richard, do you think we can fix my bike and maybe upgrade it with some left over parts from your suit?

"That will depend on what you want me to do exactly. If you tell me what you want I can either get the parts or order them. Working on the bike shouldn't be too much of a problem, an engineer is basically just a higher form of a mechanic after all." Richard replied.

Repair the damage, reinforce it with some armor plate, maybe see if we can make it go faster, and maybe integrate a few of my own toys into it.
Tommy handed Richard the note and then went and retrieved his bike, and brought it back for Richard to see.

Richard looked over the bike, going over every bullet hole to see how deep it was before standing up and speaking to Tommy. He put in an order for some armor plating that they had been using for armored vehicles as well as some spare parts, it would run with the damage it had but it wouldn't perform as well without the parts.

"Alright, the armor will be here within the hour. In the meantime, we'll take this into the garage and we can go over what exactly you want to do to it. Once the armor shows up I'll get my tools and we can cut it into the shapes we need to place it over the bike before putting it on where the body used to be. You may want to think about a few performance upgrades to make up for the added weight which can through off balance or affect acceleration or top speed." Richard said as he took the bike by the handles and started walking it toward the garage.

Tommy nodded, he decided he'd go to his room and try to find what kind of artifacts he would want to have added to his bike. When he stepped inside he saw his room was a complete mess, his drawers had been rifled through, and there where scorch marks everywhere. Maybed they got my artifacts. He was fearful as he looked for his trunk, and then found it, leaning against the wall like it had been thrown. It was badly scared but it was still locked. The wards on it must have held, that explains the scorch marks, probably got desperate to open it. He said a few words and the trunk unlocked. He checked inside, everything was still there. Then he began sorting through them to find the artifacts he wanted.
