The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

As the pillar was nearing Leland he had it lower itself back into the floor quickly, jumping to make sure he dodged the last half-foot completely, before raising it back up at high speed up into Tommy.

The glass fell downwards, gaining speed as Leland looked up at both it and Tommy above that. He barely had enough time to act to stop the glass, raising up his hand in a swift movement and circled the falling glass, causing them to stop. The glass held there for a moment as it was heated up before Leland threw it over to the non-armored members of the group.

While Leland was focused on the other members of the group, Alister stuck to the edges of the arena and wound up behind his enemy. As soon as the glass shards were launched and no longer a threat to him, Alister charged from behind. He brought his sword in from above, intending to hit Leland in the head with the flat part of the blade.

Tommy saw the pillar comming at him again, but this time he was ready. Before it had a chance to hit him, he swung both his fists down, smashing it into chunks that went flying in all directions at high speeds. He then landed in front of Leland and took a defensive stance, rooting himself in anticipation of Leland's counter-attack.

Richard immediately moved in with blades at the ready, unlike Alister he would stab Leland if necessary, he readied himself for a blade strike to the body followed by a kick to his one good leg.

It was all about the reaction time. Leland held up his palm to Alister's blade, stopping it with a loud thud as it hit him. He wrapped his hand around it (blood starting to drip down from the sharp edges cutting into his hand) and grabbed Alister's wrist with his free hand. When Richard charged toward him he pushed Alister towards him, using Alister's sword to block Richard's attack. Another tattoo glowed as he pushed them both back into the wall with a tunnel of wind.

He turned around as Tommy struck a pose, not exactly sure what to do but being wary incase he did anything.

Katie ran forward to aid her teammates, putting herself between Leland, and Alister and Richard. She sprouted the vines further and twisted some of them into a fairly large shield, quickly spreading a layer of heavy, fast-aged redwood bark to defend against any fire-based attacks Leland might use. The other vines she left open, adding thorns to produce a hopefully painful flail. While inaccurate, it would most likely hurt if it hit Leland.

"It's at the same time sad and funny that you all honestly think you can defeat him. I'm still just playing around with you all like a cat that has caught a mouse. He isn't even using his full potential and he is crushing you. Why don't you just lay down and die and make this all far easier on yourselves?" Omoi said in between cackles through the intercom.

"Even if you do beat him, you will all be so weakened that my armies will finish you off. I have you completely outmatched, outclassed, and certainly out maneuvered."

Richard shoved Alister, he was seriously getting sick of this battle, the trick would be actually hitting Leland though. He thought maybe he could cause Leland a bit of distraction. He stopped focusing on Leland directly and instead started to use the turrets to obliterate the symbols covering the walls and floor. He didn't know what they did or if they even still had a purpose, but it was worth a shot as direct attacks were getting nowhere.

Alister stumbled to the ground as Richard shoved him, clutching a small wound where he had been slashed in the collision. "Watch it!" He exclaimed. "We're on the same team, in case you forgot."

He got back up to his feet to find Richard not only ignoring him, but Leland as well, instead focusing on the runes covering the arena. Alister shrugged to himself and charged back towards Leland. If the bastard's got an idea, I guess he'll need a distraction.

He charged Leland again, swinging the sword towards his side; this was a feint, as once Leland was entirely focused on it he would slide and sweep his foe's feet out from under him.

"Don't worry about me Katie...i'm not out of this fight yet!" Jason called out to her in between breaths. His speed slowed as they stopped near their teammates. As Katie's shield grew, keeping a hand on his wound, spikes began to grow from his free hand's wrist. He pointed the spine-laden wrist at the powerful magic user before open firing, spikes rapidly growing and launching as soon as the previous ones shot out. As he shot the spikes, he backed up towards Richard, making sure to not hit Alister as he fought Leland up close.

"Hey Rich, what's up?" He asked quite nonchalantly as he fired.

The destruction of the magical symbols on the wall depleted Leland's extra magical reserves, forcing him to use his own. He yelled out as all the symbols remaining started to glow a bright red, looking almost translucent. Suddenly out from all of the symbols came out fires from hell, that took on terrifying shapes of wicked beings as they attacked.

Alister saw the strange forms, but continued with the feint maneuver on Leland.

 

[CounterAttack]

At the sight of the flaming horrors coalescing into life, Katie turned away from Leland and raised her shield in case one of them chose to attack her. One did, and rushed her with burning talons raised. Katie put her shield between herself and the burning apparition, but it lashed out nonetheless, carving straight through her shield and drawing blood. Thankfully the flames had been stopped at her armour, though they did set the plants aflame.

Katie dropped to the floor, her arm in a lot more pain than it should have been. A stab of agony flared in her mind as well, her natural weakness to fire coming into play. She let out a low groan, knowing her powers would be useless against the new threat.

Richard ignored the rest of them as he dodged the animals and focused on the runes. He would get hit from time to time with hist suit taking gashes and the area around them becoming red hot. He hoped destroying the runes that spawned them would be their undoing.

Jason took his attention off of Leland momuntarily, only to see Katie's defenses lit aflame by one of the demons. He quickly approached her as she hit the ground, taking his hand off his wound so he could use them both to pick her up. Setting her near Richard, he stayed over her in a kneeled position, continuing to shoot spikes at any of the flaming demons that were naïve enough to get too close. His aim became more and more savage as he shot, going from mostly body shots, to all head shots.

"Shit. We need to end this. My heart's starting to race. And we don't need any other demons running around here." He thought as he continued his barrage.

Tommy acted fast, as soon as Leland yelled, he struck with his right hand, chopping from right to left.

Richard destroying the runes cause some of the hellfire spirits to disappear, but a few remained and continued to attack. Leland was about to strike back against Richard for doing that before taking a solid hit from Tommy, falling to the floor with a loud thud.

Leland looked up from the floor at everything. For the split second he was back in control he caused the water from the pipes from the sewer below to come up from the floor; flooding the room for a moment before receding back. He yelled out in agony as Omoi (clearly not amused by Leland's constant fighting of the mind control) used the electric signals to get back in control of him, even if it would cause his much trauma.

"Now, now, Leland, the more you resist the more this is going to hurt you. I do have to commend you Society members for even surviving this long however, I almost thought you would be dead by now. Now if you'll just be a good boy and kill them Leland, this can be so much easier on all of you. All this resistance is only going to cause more pain for both them and you and won't change a thing. You forget as long as my implants are in your brain, your body is mine to control and you are merely a prisoner inside of it." Omoi said through the speakers as he took Leland back into his control.

"Now kill them!" He shouted as he ordered Leland's body to do everything in its power to destroy the Society members, even if it risked Leland himself.

Richard was going to take advantage of the momentary lapse in control. He charged Leland planning on injuring his bad leg further.

It was quick. As soon as Richard was within reach Leland grabbed a hold of his arm. A light blue aura started to surround Leland with all his tattoos glowing the light blue color. The pure magical energy surged through his system, causing inner damage that he was being forced to ignore.

The armor around where Leland had grabbed Richard was starting to melt from the energy. Richard was pulled forward by Leland before he used his other hand to shoot the energy at Richard's chest; sending him flying into the wall.

Richard screamed as his back hit the wall, between where the energy slammed into his chest and the burns covering most of his body he was in extreme pain. He had to use all of his strength to get himself up. It felt as if he had broken bones in his chest and it was hard to breathe. He had to wait for the right opportunity if he wanted to attack.

Alister cleared his throat behind Leland, a bit flustered that he had been ignored. "I think you're forgetting someone." He swung the sword at Leland's head, opting for a non-fatal blow.
